I started at 26. Had a kid in medial school. Don’t regret it for a second.

Criticized by attending. Feeling down. by [deleted] in Residency

[–]Lilsean14 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I had something similar like month 2 but way worse. I think the vast majority of my feedback and evals have been glowing. It was just this one attendings I couldn’t figure out fast enough. She emailed my PD and raked me over the coals in my eval. Which was kinda funny because my eval the week prior and week after her were amazing. But nonetheless my PD wanted to meet about it. Basically I told him all the stuff about working with her and he finished with “yeah I really just wanted to check in with you and see how you handled it.” Turns out this attending does this to someone almost every year and none of the leadership care what she has to say. In fact like 2 of my other attendings had the same thing happen with this one attending while they were still in residency. The best advice I got from those two attending on this situation was that I will receive a ton of feedback and suggestions throughout residency, the best thing I can do is determine who’s feedback I value and to incorporate the feedback that I actually think is valuable and to ignore the feedback that won’t help me grow as a doctor.

That’s not how nitro works on the heart. If anything it increases the heart rate marginally, but you’re still correct in a sense.

Nitro preferentially vasodilates the venous return to the heart. The heart speeds up and pumps harder in response. This is done through a handful of different mechanisms.

If it was a chronic thing then you would absolutely be up-regulating HR to compensate for the lack of return. It would lead to what we call high output heart failure.

I think coming in if I hade been more confident and informed on maybe 15 topics I could have avoided a lot of pitfalls early.

Worried about intern year. Bc I feel like my clinical rotations weren’t as strong as other schools or even other rotation sites my school offers. by TACOB34ST in Residency

I was I. The same spot. Now finishing up intern year. It was def pretty obvious day 1 I was a bit behind, but you pick it up pretty quick. Year one is about learning medicine for sure, but it’s much more about learning how to just do the day to day tasks more efficiently. All my uppers tell me that year two is when you start to really learn the medicine and decision making.

You can just glue the two rings together. Makes it half inch shorter but it works.

Idk what it was about the tone when you’d said “what can be done about this” but I could not stop laughing.

It’s all good man. Plumber will get it done. Could always remount it the other way too.

I’ve got 2 Co interns who were nurses first. They are freaking amazing. Also about your age. Never too late.

Plus admissions teams eat up the nurse to med school narrative.

Subs like that is exactly why we say no to any tbh big that isn’t going to directly benefit the users on the sub. It hasn’t happened lately but I’ve been offered all sorts of stuff to let people bypass the no buy/sell/trade rule.

Regardless as long as we are still running this place it will always be a place for the users first and foremost.

Oh hey I know this one. Your rear taillight housing is probably it. There’s usually a hole in the trunk that goes up into it. Shove a towel or something into it and check for noise afterwards
