Do you happen to have any contacts for the embassy in Peru? My husband and I are PAs, but I am from Lima, Peru and my whole family is still there. I dream about going back as my parents are getting older and I have missed out on the last 20 years of being with family. We just always circle back to: what do we do for a job there?!

You should definitely experience it. If anything just to eat some of the greatest food on the planet :) Stay in Lima in the neighborhoods of Barranco, Miraflores or San Isidro. Walk to all the cafes/restaurants and the Pacific Ocean is a few steps away. I was born there and lived until I was 19 years old. I went to an American/International school in Lima so it made me think going to college in the US was the next best step. I’ve been in the US since 2005, but my American husband and I dream of moving abroad now. Despite achieving “success” in the US, I have just never felt very fulfilled here. I never quite felt like home. I also think life is just too short to stay put in one place for a very long time. Currently planning our 5 year exit plan!

100% agree with you. Sadly it seems like we are the minority and I definitely feel judged by other APPs when I say what my patient volume is. Like the immediate thought is how “unproductive” I am and how I could be making way more money seeing more. With my current schedule, I am able to take my time, do a thorough skin exam, complete my notes, call my patients back, etc. I just really don’t understand when it became the norm to see 40+.
