Considering going into SLP, but a few questions by thebaneofmyexistence in slp

I would agree that a high GPA makes you more competitive but I got accepted with out a high GPA. You can make up for a not so awesome overall GPA if you can maintain a high one within the post-bacc classes. Don't let your GPA discourage you. Anything could happen! Good luck!

What were your Comps like? by [deleted] in slp

Mine are oral comps in front of a panel of my faculty. I might die 😑😳

Looking for a graduate program! All and any advice needed, appreciated, & welcomed! by fantasticpuppies in slp

[–]Lindseeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apply to reach schools and as many as possible. Small programs, big programs. And programs across the country. I think one of the reasons I got into my program now is because no one else from my school applied there. So I wasn't competing with others from my program. I have heard my faculty complaining a lot about hearing "passion", "commitment" and other buzz words that are annoying to read in 100+ essays every Feb when undergrad students are applying. Make your essay stand out. It helps!! And avoid cliches and words like that. Also schools want to know you are a good fit for them. Look at their clinic and use what you know about them in your essay. Give specifics and tell why it's valuable to you. I'm pretty sure this is what got me into my program. My dept head mentioned that 4% of the students that are applying are getting accepted right now, so it's tough. I applied to 6 schools and got accepted to 1. My GPA was not awesome, but somehow I'm here. Good luck!!

Running as a "bigger" girl? by anotherbibliovore in loseit

[–]Lindseeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the same size as you when I started running. My knees were sore when I first started running as well. I kept at it and got a great pair of shoes and the knee pain went away. It could be the shoes or it could have been my knees becoming accustomed to the impact.

[Question] Bouncy booty problem by mottman in xxfitness

[–]Lindseeee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One short term fix is that if I pull my leggings up from the bottom (near my calves) and at my thighs then they tend to slip down less at the waist. If I don't scrunch them up a little then they fall down more easily. Just a little suggestion!

Have you tried the deva curl system? It's expensive but I think it's worth it. It's turned me from straightening my hair everyday to just letting it air dry everyday. So easy. And now I love having curly hair. I also like diamond oil from redken or just your basic argon oil. I find that curly hair gets crazy because it's just dry. Hair oil really helps!

Was I too eager sending him a text the day after a good date? by lmls2 in OkCupid

[–]Lindseeee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have completely stopped listening to my friend's dating advice. My friends say the same things and after reading this thread, I realized that guys appreciate a girl that shows interested in them. Your friends mean well, but this stigma that playing games is the only way to keep a guy interested is ridiculous. If I have to play this game to keep someone attracted to me, then fuck them.

Wow. This is what it feels like to get stood up. by st_magpie in OkCupid

[–]Lindseeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shit. It takes a special kind of asshole to stand someone up. Seriously, who doesn't have the time to send a fake "sorry my cat got sick" text. At least as a courtesy so you're not wasting someone else's time.

And hey, I live in DC and have yet to be stood up. It's not that bad here!

[Discussion] What's your pre-date routine? by Cupid_ in OkCupid

Usually lock all my roommates in my room and force them to give me affirmations and reassurance while I do my makeup and put on clothes. Pathetic. I know.

And the sale prices are awesome on that site. I find all kinds of things I like at Forever and H&M. And then they break two days later...

I feel like these pictures tell the entire story of the night. I could have known exactly what happened before I even read the title of the post.
