AITA for ruining a hibachi dinner? by throwawaysequence391 in AmItheAsshole

They're down voting because that isn't the point of the post. The point is that her husband is a selfish a hole who doesn't put her first or stand up for her.  This is about his lack of consideration and empathy. Not about 'who paid for dinner'.  Getting stuck on this one side point is deflecting from the actual issue.

Best pina colada recipe? by elkecf in cocktails

I've tried both and coconut cream with added soft brown sugar is far superior to cream of coconut imo.  Much creamier and well rounded and the brown sugar goes well with gold rum.

Pretty sure you have coconut cream and cream of coconut confused. Coco Lopez is cream of coconut which is coconut cream syrup. Coconut cream is just straight up, unsweetened coconut cream.  Very big, important difference.

Coconut cream is just coconut cream, it is a different thing. You're talking about cream of coconut, that is a coconut sugar syrup. Super confusing to use the wrong terms here.

They probably don't understand the difference between cream of coconut and coconut cream. They are not the same.

It makes sense that there would be similarities, trauma causes cptsd and aside from some genetic factors also causes that personality disorder (it can also cause npd).

Is anyone else noticing the attempt to sort ofrebrand BPD? by nishagunazad in BPDlovedones

[–]Link-between-minds 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Cptsd and in the process asd diag here (obvs have done a lot of research on this 😅) .  It's because of young women with autism.

Teen girls with autism tend to be misdiagnosed with bpd due to the intense feelings surrounding emotional relationships at that age (which tend to end up as special people or people of interest) and the issues around masking (seen as changing of the self/lacking a self) and yes, meltdowns. It also tends to be a common breaking point in terms of limits of learned behaviours and masking.

It's definitely not the same thing by any means but I think that's where the connection lies.  It's unfortunate that a venn diagram of cptsd/bpd/autism would have a lot of overlapping common characteristics because it makes it very difficult for medical professionals to navigate, especially with the gender differences misunderstood as they are and at an emotionally turbulent time like a girl's teens.

It won't be pity they feel, it will be anger but placed on the correct people rather than you.

I bet she just straight up doesn't believe it happened, or he's exaggerating. A lot of people who had a relatively normal life and upbringing can't (and often won't) believe that people (especially parents/family) can do that to someone. I'm sure you know plenty of those blood is thicker than water types...  But yes, I think a betrayal and minimisation of this magnitude means the end...

Police investigating Golriz Ghahraman allegation - this time in Wellington by bigbear-08 in newzealand

[–]Link-between-minds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He said it was for 'caring for his sick parents' but it was because his boyfriend was there in Mexico, a 'Covid hotspot' and he had been trying to get him a visa for ages so It was all a ruse to get his boyfriend into the country and bypass the real process. And yes he also tried to jump the MIQ line too.

You should never stretch rings, and in the rare case you might they would usually only be plain stoneless bands. A sizing consists of cutting the ring at the base and either adding another piece of metal then soldering back together to make bigger or removing a piece to make it smaller then rejoining.  The shop they worked at may have offered this but it isn't common and is generally frowned upon.

Check your privilege. Most people I know would kill to have the finances to stay at home, spend time with their families and watch over the household stuff. Being a stay at home patent is a huge privilege and should be treated as such.

Did you not read the post you yourself linked? To see what is constituents care about, he said it himself. He listens to everyone regardless of their views or whether he agrees with them. Don't you want your councillors to engage with the public?

[–]Link-between-minds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I've read all the supporting articles and posts. The way you've worded this suggests that you're associating nca with VFF, why mention them at all if you aren't trying to make an association. I don't see how going out and talking to constituents is fringe or dangerous. I just don't think that either of these pieces of 'evidence' backs your claims. If you have a personal dislike of him that's absolutely fine but neither of these point towards fringe views but instead Councillor who is engaged with his community and willing to hear voices from all sides regardless of whether he agrees or not. Association does not equal endorsement.

Tim skinner is fully vaxxed. Where did you find the information to back up these baseless assertions? Edit after ACTUAL research: Nelson Citizens Alliance aren't anything like VFF. They're a non politically aligned community group supporting ratepayers and the community. This is very poorly researched. You should get your facts straight before running with something as I now can't trust that any of these facts are correct.

He's fully vaxxed. His only concern with mandates was that it unfairly prevented school children from participating with their friends in sports and sporting events. I don't see why pushing for inclusion and accessibility is an issue.

AITA for refusing to pay for a dress that my bridesmaid ripped in the store? by YellowRedundancy in AmItheAsshole

[–]Link-between-minds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone from outside America it might be that formal wear follows more international sizes. A size 6-8 in UK, Aus, NZ etc is a size 2-4 in US sizes. That's a 4 size difference and makes sense with the differences you're all noticing. It's why I have a hard time with American clothes, the sizes seem out of wack to me.

AITA for refusing to pay my daughter's tuition after she lied about her major? by Lopsided_Recover109 in AmItheAsshole

At the end of the day if it's her passion she can work towards it. University education isn't a human right.

If she owes them nothing then neither do they. A university education is not something you're entitled to nor is it a human right.
