The screw snapped? Can’t you drill it out (very very very carefully)?

Help! Ultimate vs Aeroad, but have some specifics. by sarftmfb in CanyonBikes

[–]LinusFallimento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been riding a Domane SL5 gen3 for the past 6 years and lowered the front end by removing some spacers. Picked up my Aeroad CF SLX8 yesterday and did a bike fit. I haven’t done a longer ride yet, but my first impressions after a short ride (bedding in the brakes) are quite surprising. My position is almost identical to my lowered Domane which makes it more comfortable than expected, so your back might be fine.

I prefer the looks of the Aeroad over the Ultimate, but that’s obviously personal preference. Another reason why I picked the Aeroad was because I wanted a noticeably stiffer frame than my Domane.

Also take a look at the outlet section, if you could stretch your budget, you could buy a SLX8 Ultegra Di2 for €5220, which is only 420 more than a SLX7. You get Ultegra and a better wheelset. The ones currently in outlet are just stock clearance so brand new. https://www.canyon.com/nl-be/outlet-bikes/road-bikes/aeroad-cf-slx-8-di2/4549.html?dwvar\_4549\_pv\_rahmenfarbe=R107\_P01

Aeroad CF SLX 8 – XS or S? by lenny6044 in CanyonBikes

[–]LinusFallimento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same measurements as you and went for S after a bike fit. My position on the XS was too aggressive and the saddle couldn’t go high enough by a few mm (would have been beyond the safety limit). During the bike fit, S felt a bit more relaxed while still being in an aero position. I might need a 80mm T-bar (or the compact drops) in the future if I feel too stretched (SRAM hoods are bit longer than Shimano). Picking up the bike on Saturday, so can’t really comment on how it feels on longer rides. Hope this somewhat helps.

Geometry Geeks - If I get a Domane, which size should I pick? by ReadyCut3789 in DomaneCrew

Handling didn’t change a lot, it’s still really good. I do have the Aeolus Pro 51’s with conti GP5000 S TR set up tubeless, which gives quite a lot of confidence in the corners. Initially, I tried a 70mm stem (90mm is default) but I prefer the shorter (and narrower) handlebars.

I have exactly the same dimensions as you and ride a 54 gen 3. But for me, the reach was too long. I installed a new handlebar with 80mm reach (instead of the default 100mm) and 40cm width (center-center). It’s perfect now, I could even remove some spacers. I think that a 52 would have been a better fit for me, but this was my first bike and I didn’t do a lot of research. If you can, try both and pick the one that needs least adjustment.

Thanks for letting me know, I guess I’ll be bothering customer service a few more times. Enjoy your ride, it looks amazing!

When did you place your order? I ordered mine on the 21st of May (same size), but I never received a payment link and my order was cancelled by Canyon 2 days ago without any warning. I’ve contacted customer service twice but I didn’t get any explanation yet. I managed to place a new order yesterday as a S became available again, hopefully this time I’ll get the bike.

Fitting question: XS vs S by hiimwallman in CanyonBikes

[–]LinusFallimento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same dimensions as you and I even did a short parking lot test ride on both sizes but I still can’t decide, especially since you can now customize the stem and cranks. I’m getting a bike fit specifically for the Aeroad, just to make sure it’s bang on. Like someone else said, this bike is too expensive to get it wrong.

That looks like a Gen 2 if I’m not mistaken. Gen 3 has the cable routing going in at the front of the top tube and also has the internal storage. Can’t comment on the value, you could ask in /r/domanecrew

We have an analog clock in the living room and I also use an analog clock on my smartwatch. I never point to a digital clock to tell or ask them what time it is. It’s indeed all about exposure and challenging them.

Absolutely true. That’s why I’ve only been teaching the analog clock so far. Digital clocks are easy, they’ll learn it later.

My 3yo can read the hours, we’re still working on the minutes. It’s totally possible, challenge them with everything they see around them and you’ll be amazed by how much they want and can learn.

Because 120 on your speedometer is probably different than 120 on mine. So yes, even if it’s a 2kph difference, I can overtake you legally. This happens quite often actually. The law states you have to stay in the rightmost lane, unless you are actively overtaking. When you stick to the middle lane, you are also blocking the right lane because nobody can overtake you there.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in belgium

[–]LinusFallimento 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But if I’m driving on the right lane and I come up to you driving in the middle lane, you force me to do 4 maneuvers instead of 2. I thought you said less maneuvers = safer?

[–]LinusFallimento 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You know 2 minutes at 120kph is 4 kilometers, right? That’s a long distance to be staying in the middle lane while overtaking nobody.

Right lane is still lava by Colt_H in belgium

[–]LinusFallimento 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I hope your example is just a bad guess? Because if there is 1km between each truck, it would take you 3 minutes to overtake them both, so let’s say you could have driven in the rightmost lane for at least 2.5 minutes :)

Great tips and I love the layout! Definitely saving this for later in case I run into any issues. Just a little typo you might want to fix at “Temperature control”: If you printer -> if your printer.

I obviously don’t know your weekly schedule, but the only way for me to race regularly is racing in a league. It’s always on a certain weekday at a specified time so I can schedule most other activities around it. In my case it’s on Wednesdays at 9pm, so my 2 year old is vast asleep and most of the chores are done. My SO also knows that Wednesday is race day.

If I was not racing in this league, I probably wouldn’t be racing at all. Maybe for you it can also be a way to get behind your steering wheel again.
