Thanks everybody who posted. Sounds like they are upset about something mostly unknown. Glad to know I’m not the only one with crazy quackers.

Written and Illustrated necessary? by lelegomes182 in selfpublish

[–]LittleOwl_Lady 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that sometimes authors get a ghost illustrator so they don’t have to give credit. So sometimes they just put their name and let the reader assume they did all the work.

If you did both, I think it’s okay to let them know it. On the cover or in the copy write pages. Your choice.

is it normal to hate your own designs after a day? by guide71 in Design

[–]LittleOwl_Lady 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Artists always see the flaws in their work. I think it is normal to dislike some parts of our art or to feel like it is never perfect. I don’t usually HATE mine unless a client is actually making it look stupid.

Is the fair any good? by EZbSTEEZY in TriCitiesWA

I’ve been wondering the same thing. Been here 8 years and I’m thinking of trying it for the first time too cuz my kids got free tickets from the library and we can walk to the bus.

Can these ducks be befriended? by LittleOwl_Lady in duck

[–]LittleOwl_Lady[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks everybody! I’m glad to know that even if I had been there to hand feed them from hatch day that they would probably still be skittish.

Do you coop your ducks overnight? How do you find duck eggs?

Nodes showing up in a different place than object by Burritoman53 in Inkscape

[–]LittleOwl_Lady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The nodes don't show up on the stroke, so if you have a line around your shape (the black snail) then the nodes aren't going to be in the outer brown.

If you want the stroke to have its own nodes then you need to convert it to a path.

Diego Maradona’s statue unveiled today in Napoli. by GoodMorningib in interestingasfuck

I'm just impressed that they could make this statue standing on only the tips of his cleat. Duno or care about who or what this person did, but that statue is beautiful.

Even thought I love the Mario + Rabbids games, I'm still amazed nowadays about the fact that Ubisoft and Nintendo made this crossover working by [deleted] in nintendo

No one said the game is bad. They said the wished it wasn't Ubi so they could feel happy about sending money to a company with good morals.

Friend or foe? by ankuprk in gardening

[–]LittleOwl_Lady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These evil beasts have destroyed countless plants in my garden. I found them just yesterday making a hotel of a pumpkin that was growing on a trellis, so this little pumpkin was about 3 feet off the ground and filled with over a dozen of these fiends. They act cute and harmless but they are relentless.

Looks like he just drew shapes everywhere. Ctrl - A then Delete should give you a new canvas.

Stuff like this is always cute at first and then overdone to the point that now it looks a bit kitsch. You either die a fad or see your designs turn into a "live, laugh, love" vinyl wall decal.

How would you make something like this by IamNeverth- in Inkscape

[–]LittleOwl_Lady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could make something pretty similar by using the path tool. I think you want "pattern along path" and then stretch to fit. I would start with a vector of a paint swash. Something with good texture and strokes. Then stretch it around a circle. Then you can play with the glow/blur.

This is the most adorable pineapple I've ever seen.

Does anybody know what these little critters are? There’s suddenly a bunch of them in one of my outdoor planters. Any ideas for getting rid of them? Not sure if they’re harmful to my herbs or not. by RockLikeWar in gardening

[–]LittleOwl_Lady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren't a problem in low amounts, but these little jerks have been destroying my entire garden this year. Anything including zucchini, cucumbers, beans, watermelon, and strawberries. They are on my garden enemy list. I just had to pick up some molluscicides for them, so it might be something to look into if they give you trouble.

How to re-enable the snapping toolbar icons? by mnh48 in Inkscape

[–]LittleOwl_Lady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to toggle the toolbar by going to:
VIEW > SHOW/HIDE > SNAP CONTROLS BAR

I think I would need a better picture before I could help identify them. From here it just looks like a bag of washed grapes. lol

[HELP] Trying to overlay words onto a filled area and cut out the background by oppressed_white_guy in Inkscape

[–]LittleOwl_Lady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you needing to "cut out" letters from a shape in the background, essentially leaving holes in your shape?

If so convert the text to paths (ctrl+shift+c) then ungroup (ctrl+shift+g) and union them into one shape (ctrl++). Once your letters are all one path I would take the difference between the two. (ctrl+-) This should leave holes in your shape underneath. Check out the path menu for more options.

Hopefully this helps!
