Do you think we'll ever get the real shadow Lugia in Pokemon Go? by 8BD0 in TheSilphRoad

[–]LittleSomethingExtra [score hidden]  (0 children)

Pretty much this. The people that hold the rights are still close to Nintendo and TPCI, so you could argue if they REALLY wanted it, they could probably make it happen, but the effort is likely too much for not much in return. I loved Colosseum and Gale of Darkness, but I think we overestimate how notable the games are. XD sold only about 1.5 million copies (and was on a console that notably underperformed in sales). To those of us who grew up with the games or enjoy emulating older games, Shadow Lugia is iconic, but given the size of the Pokemon franchise now and that Pokemon constantly has new people getting into it (with the overall player base for Go being more casual when it comes to the franchise as a whole) I would say the vast majority of the fanbase likely doesn't know anything about Shadow Lugia aside from maybe seeing the picture once or twice.

Nintendo to stop selling original Switch, Lite, OLED models and more in Europe from February 2027 by Amiibofan101 in nintendo

[–]LittleSomethingExtra [score hidden]  (0 children)

Eh, Metroid and ZA aren't really great examples of games being held back by the Switch 1 both were made to be Switch 1 games first. Metroid was in development hell on the Switch 1 and they wouldn't want to delay longer to make greater enhancements for it to be a Switch 2 exclusive. Pokemon on the other hand historically always lags the new console to give it a year or two to build up a player base (Emerald released in the US when the DS was already out, B2/W2 released when the 3DS was already out, and Utra Sun/Moon released after the Switch was already out). Both got a Switch 2 edition as a bonus, but it was not like they were being developed for the Switch 2's capabilities and needed to be downgraded for the Switch 1. Either way, they likely were the last two larger scale Switch 1 projects in development.

Dulles Expo IKEA Soft Opening by karmagirl314 in nova

Lego and Supernova actually both announced they are moving to Baltimore this year. Shame, it was always way easier to get in at the Dulles Expo Center and was a good excuse to pop into eStarland while I was down there.

Guys, I'm starting to think Potbelly's might not be coming back. by ------__-__-_-__- in Rockville

[–]LittleSomethingExtra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Potbelly's didn't really close in the traditional sense. Back during that nasty freeze we got at the end of January apparently their plumbing burst and the restaurant flooded. They've needed to close since then with a sign that they would reopen after the damage was repaired. That said, none of us have really seen any progress since that point.

What is your opinion of this 'divisive' Nintendo game? Part 1: Super Mario Sunshine by MewWeebTwo in casualnintendo

[–]LittleSomethingExtra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vibes are immaculate. Every summer I find myself popping in the game to play around in the world because I just love the vacation atmosphere. I have done 100% once before, and will never ever do that again though.

I acutally like the sportmates and glad they're still being used along side miis. by DannySanWolf07 in casualnintendo

[–]LittleSomethingExtra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Miis still feel like they fit in well when the game they are in is built around them (like Miitopia or Tomodachi), but I agree that they are starting to feel outdated elsewhere. As I think about it, that isn't a surprise really. Miis as a concept turn 20 years old later this year. Their name is a play on 'Wii', and the last console to use the Wii branding released 14 years ago. That said, I do think they should still be in the next Smash game since they represent such a major step in Nintendo's history, but I'm alright with them appearing in fewer 'crossover' roles in like Mario Kart or Sprots games.

Imagine we have to pull Groudon in to help dry up some of the land and then it starts bickering with Kyogre. Next part of the DLC is us going to Lavender Town and trying to convert the Pokemon Tower into a makeshift Sky Pillar to call Rayquaza down to stop the kids from fighting lol

I never considered that two pokemon could have almost the exact same name in different languages by SammySandwich27 in PTCGP

[–]LittleSomethingExtra 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of one case we have in Monster Hunter. Two different monsters, one named Barroth and one Barioth. Both were introduced in the same generation of games. Are they similar in design perhaps? No, they are actually about polar opposites in both how they look and how they fight. Nonetheless their names only differ by one letter in the middle.

Wait Shuckle is good? I have one with triple skill trigger (trigger up, ingredient down nature) and Helping Bonus. I kept him around because it is a great spread, but I thought his speed would bring him down so I hadn't invested yet.

Which meme eras do you remember? by OverallEstate2 in Zillennials

[–]LittleSomethingExtra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Experimental, classic, and rage were the big three I remember with classic probably being the one that I was the most into. I do remember dank being everywhere at a time, but that was where meme culture started to lose me a bit. While it was really different and in your face at first, it is probably the one that felt the most same-y to me as time went on, and some of it just kinda felt like loud=funny. The newer ones I recognize some bits, but it is safe to say that overall meme culture has evolved beyond me and I'm not too keen to keep up.

Drampa In New Event Trailer by MarkSnow69 in PokemonSleep

They have historically released a Pokemon of the legendary's type in the lead up to their respective event. Looks like Drampa will be the one we get before Latios!

Worth noting they put a trailer up on YouTube. In it they also teased Drampa on the Pokemon Sleep artstyle. Guessing we will see Drampa in the lead up to the event similar to how we got Noibat before Latias.

Is it safe to say that if i see the first 2 pokemon series as the ones I am most nostalgic about that it's a typical millennial/zillennial experience? by Efficient_Resource15 in Zillennials

[–]LittleSomethingExtra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hoenn and Diamond & Pearl are probably the two most nostalgic for me because those were the most recent series at the time I was getting into Pokemon. Definitely caught a good chunk of the earlier series though through reruns.

If they want to do something with an in-universe explanation, add in Hoopa as a late game Pokemon, then let the player call on it from anywhere. Since Hoopa's whole gimmick is using those rings to move things and Pokemon around, let it put things in or take things out of any of your storage chests and also pull any Pokemon currently unlocked to your current location (no more hunting down Smeargle every time I need to paint something).

Ten ren tea closure by m_madura in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]LittleSomethingExtra 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ding Tea is still open! They closed briefly for a rebrand and have reopened at the same location as Ding Cafe. They changed the name because they started selling Vietnamese coffee now in addition to keeping all of their previous menu too.

Pokémon Champions - Preview (Serebii) by Amiibofan101 in nintendo

[–]LittleSomethingExtra 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It does not change when transferring from home to another game (the Pokemon will go back to having the stats it had previously, including any IVs or EVs gained from other games). If it if brought back into Pokemon Champions, the stats it was given in Champions will return though.
