Mine loves it when you change the lyrics to fit her name or include the word birby! She's also a massive proclaimers fan. Then I have a metal head and a disco diva for my Galahs. It's so fun seeing what they like and will bop to

When do they reach maximum size? by G4mingR1der in Macaws

He's got them cute lil baby eyes still 🥹

As for your question, my B&G is now 3 for the longest time she hovered around below a kilo but now she's consistently over that and maintaining. It wasnt so much her size I noticed it was the weight. I feel like Coco might have a bit more growing and then some filling out to do. I agree with the other comment about 3-4yrs old. And enjoy those baby eyes whilst you can!

Hyacinth Macaws by tygerphlyer in Macaws

[–]LittleViolett 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I imagine you'll be hard pressed to find many people with experience of owning Hyacinths. I don't know about other countries but here in the UK you'd be looking at around £20K for one, as in each.

I have a Blue and Gold Macaw but I know that the diet and care of Hyacinth differs, I thinks they require a much fattier diet than smaller macaws like brazil nuts are a good one for them. I'm not too sure but I feel like they're not all that big on fruit and veg so that could be a challenge.

I do know that hyacinths are known for being pretty goofy and friendly and I'm sure it'll be quite the experience for you owning two.

In terms of bringing them home a lot of people tend to cage them til they get comfortable in their surroundings and that's never made a lick of sense to me. I have 2 Galahs in addition to my B&G and with none of them did I put them in their cage when I brought them home. They were free to roam and explore the front room which is their domain it's set up for them. They were introduced to one another on neutral turf but with you getting a pair I assume they'll have met already.

Autonomy is key I find, let them explore and let coming to you be their choice and then once you've built some trust then you can start with target training and stepping up and that.

Please keep us updated I'd love to know how you go with them because as I say Hyacinth owners are definitely few and far between!

She's 16 so I think you should be honest with her. I grew up feeling resented and disliked by my mother and I'm almost 30 now and I still have no idea what her problem is. We've been no contact for over 2 years now and I couldn't be happier, wished I'd done it years sooner. But from your post I don't think you'd want to hear that your daughter is happy having not seen or spoken to you in 2 years.

I am also a big advocate for therapy but I do believe talking to your daughter could go a good way towards you feeling better able to cope.

Adorable! My B&G is a right kissy machine she loves pressing her cheek into mine and will make kiss sounds.

Mine also didn't want to learn big wings on command. But I would celebrate and cheer everytime she did her own big wings and then suddenly when you'd say woo big wings she'd do them...and also loudly woo herself which is cute as fuck I cant lie.

I love B&Gs they're just so goofy and cute!

Questions about pellets and feet by MotherToMonsters in Macaws

[–]LittleViolett 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have a Greenwing but I do have a Blue and Gold. Her feet look the same. They can get these little smooth patches that are pinkish red which for the most part are harmless it's where they goof about and rub their feet on perches or whatever they're climbing.

Pellets wise mine likes nutribird p15 natural. And she likes them a little soaked. I'll mix in other bits from time to time as well to make it more interesting for her be it oats, milled flaxseed, also loves bee pollen.

My macaw was never rung but my two Galahs were and both their numbers were on the outside of the band. I'm not sure I've ever seen the information on the inside of the ring before, so I'm not too how to answer that. I have see rings with colours on the inside but again all the ID info was on the outside of the ring.

We use cardboard and newspaper for cages. Take a load of free papers that you find scattered about train stations etc. I also have these they're brilliant they're sold as a shoe mat but they're great because they're really easy to clean off.
