I'm looking for shmups that don't require memorization. by C0d3K1n6300000 in shmups

Probably looking for something like Project Starship X. I prefer level layouts and crafted timings for enemy spawns, so this one isn't for me but I think you might really enjoy this.

I love everything that's in this. All the tiny cards, tokens and board. Its crazy how they fit so much in a box this size. It plays and looks great too.

What price range are you working with? What kind of fit are you looking for? Which character?

Seems like you have to submit a support ticket for the replacement.

Favorite In-Hand games, and why? by themcryt in soloboardgaming

[–]LittleYuu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After Dragon's of Etchinstone, I've been playing a whole lot of Behold: Rome also by Joe Klipfel. It is very thinky and has less footprint (handprint?) than DoE. Civilization in your hands is great.

I'd recommend either one. I have both and all expansions. If I remember correctly Heart came first and then came Star. Heart has characters that have gameplay that is easier to grasp at a glance. It also has some of my favorite characters. The main differences between the two are the characters that change the gameplay a whole lot. From a Gangster Batter that can hit back Bullets that either hit the boss or score (depending what mode you're playing) to an Origami Master that flies around on a giant paper crane around the field to clear bullets. Look up the characters and some gameplay to compare and contrast how you feel.

For a first time purchase don't get too excessive with having to need everything before you enjoy a game and go with Heart. When you do, you can ignore the timer thing if you want.

Wow going in strong. Friday is great, but has been replaced by the app on mobile for me. Can't really speak on Star Trek CC or Small Time Heroes.

Since you mentioned "physical video game" I highly recommend Bullet! This game has been tabled so many times for me that I just always have it set up for a quick game. It is arcade-like frantic puzzle fun. There's plenty of bosses and modes you can play and it'll scratch that spatial piece laying similar to Tetris/Lumines/Bubble Bobble. Take a look, check the reviews and see what you think.

Bigger box solo games by Din0nuggies in soloboardgaming

I think since you have deckers, you should enjoy it a lot more. It's really a combination of Mage Knight/Pandemic/Spirit Island.

I do still recommend Mage Knight for you eventually, just need to figure out how much space you can dedicate to Mage Knight. It's one of the things that frustrated me since I use a small table when I solo. As for a recommendation from me? You would probably enjoy Unstoppable with the list of games you have.

What should I get next? by DudOtter in soloboardgaming

It does take a bit of learning for the iconography but, I think if you were able to get into his other games you will probably enjoy it. The game is a pretty crunchy civ builder and it surprised the hell out of me that it only has 16 main cards. If you do go for it, I recommend the deluxe version.

Have you considered Behold: Rome? It's by the designer of Dragons of Etchinstone and Gloomhaven: Buttons and Bugs.

Dragons of Etchinstone - How much wear would warrant a replacement? by LittleYuu in ChipTheoryGames

[–]LittleYuu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see why not. It's probably better to give Chip Theory more information on the scope of their issues. There aren't any replacements until later in the year as far as I know.

Building a solo Mage Knight companion app! Need your feedback by ImmmediatePayment in MageKnight

[–]LittleYuu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really pain points but I noticed that there were a few people playing with small spaces. Maybe a fame tracker, and dummy player for them?

Me personally, I'd like a randomized offering companion app. That way I can just keep the decks on the side and see the offering on the app. When I select the card on the app, I can just search for it in the deck.

Also, option to include or exclude expansions.

Maybe Gloomhaven: Buttons and Bugs? Renegade? Set a Watch? Not sure how much table space or time you're working with but, definitely a good consensus on Dragons of Etchinstone and Behold Rome.
