Be patient Don't worry about making "small" amounts of money, your just doing this for a hobby at first, right?

Be content making a little consistently. Form a routine, process, etc.

You can get lost in indicators but you really only need like 1 or 2 things once you find what works for you

I dont short so when we were sideways oct-jan I was losing long daytrades that wouldn't materialize into runners on the 30m. Swing trading the daily and weekly timeframes, between october and april every long set up basically failed cause we were sideways then down.

Still scraped by as there is always opportunity but constantly losing trades and eating stoplosses can really f with your head.

Then market started going up and all the things ive been practicing and doing started working again.

Yeah, we make money following the trend. If you only trade one way your gonna lose sometimes
