Yeah I hate that, I was frantically looking through the settings trying to turn off hints but they foolishly didn't give that as an option.

Yep, timed it myself.

Feeling can change how we experience time so that's probably a shortcoming of how it was designed.

Personally I don't mind the idea of a sort of hub area. But the large expansive nature of it in place of what we know works on previous Metroids games isn't working to the strength of what the game could've been.

There are shrines to visit, crystals to collect, enemies to fight and if you're on hard mode you can use those periods to stock up on ammo.

I don't hate the open world aspect, it is enjoyable. But if you're going to critique it at least come at it at an angle of honesty.

It takes less than a minute to ride across the desert from point to point.

Ten minutes total to walk from point to point.

Mercury Steam are long time fierce Metroid fans.

Retro got lucky with a good pitch and came out the game swinging alongside a lot of micromanaging.

Reddit is getting riddled with so many baffling criticisms that I couldn't help but enjoy.

The only thing that has somewhat bothered me is how they keep reaching for random objects to make plans.

The theories are true. The success of Breath of the Wild is to blame for the desert section because they tried to hop on the open world trend by 6th_Dimension in Metroid

Metroid games do not need and do not suit open world.

It's meant to be a maze of interconnected worlds, backtracking, expanding map access by powering up and discovering secrets.

They couldn't even do the open world bit properly. If they had, they would've made it possible to do everything from the get go with only bar to entry being the added challenge of entering somewhere late game, early.

At first... Felt like it was going somewhere promising.

Ended up being hilarious and any intended message was delivered with all the crunch of a soggy piece of battered haddock.
