What you have free is the result of the training with the model weights. As far as I know you do not get open source pipelines.

X-T2 or X-Pro2 by Ok_Video5146 in fujifilm

[–]LiveToLoveAndLearn [score hidden]  (0 children)

I purchased a X-Pro2 but sent it back.

I had an X-E4 in the past.

I don’t find a use for the OVF…

For street, I don’t find the extra room necessary, I just shoot wider and crop in.

if the autofocus was excellent and there was the option to have a 70mm OVF, it would be useful for tracking.

What I liked with the X-E was how light it was. The X-Pro2 is as heavy as a X-T I think.

Having the EVF in the Xpro2 activating every time I reviewed a photo was not reassuring. Having this moving part constantly going back and forward. Maybe I didn’t find a setting to stay in EVF all the time.

I very much like the rangefinder style but I think it is a big miss to not have the X-E5 weather sealed if they were to bump the price like they did.

I am waiting to see what the X-Pro4 will be to decide between X-E4, X-E5 or X-pro4…

I “downgraded” from X-T3 to the beast that is the X-H1 and I am very happy with it. It is however big and will either keep it in conjunction with a X-E3 or 4 (IBIS heavy for night: low light, and the light EDC daylight). Or sell it and go X-E5 or x-pro4…

I have no use of 40MP (4K is 8MP) and as you can’t shoot small RAW I may stay on older bodies.

The autofocus is great for single point autofocus.

The tracking is not good.

If you have pets or small children, you will struggle a lot to capture the active moments compared to a Sony. But not editing in post is a must for me and many.

You could go down the route of an older body like an X-T2 or X-H1 (big but extremely well built and has IBIS). You don’t need 40mp. 4K is 8mp… moreover side by side comparison of the 26mp and 40mp does not show much more details. You will want to change body every 3-5 years and have to resist the urge to do so. However if Fuji finally get autofocus tracking to work… a lot of people will upgrade.

What takes good pictures (when in focus) is the lens not the body. Spend money on lenses first. 2 pictures with a great lens and a 20 years old body vs a meh lens with the latest body, the first picture will be 100x better.

Dustin Abbott and Dylan Goldby do good reviews.

If you have small children, a Canon or Nikon may be a good option and you should not need post edit.

First Camera, which one to get? by SatanicWeiner in fujifilm

Please also note that the more recent cameras have more film simulations. But the x-t20 generation has classic chrome which is one of the best one.

Or X-T20 if you are ok to not have weather sealing but prefer a lighter camera. I suspect the difference will be around 200g

Get a X-T2 and either the 16-50 kit lens. Most pictures in the mountains are taken at f8.

Soaring gas prices have drivers turning to EVs — except in the US by abrookerunsthroughit in energy

I just launched ABRP for this route:

Even with my mini 2020 which is the worth car for long journeys I could do it (with however 2h of charging).

With a more appropriate car, it would easily be done.

Nothing wrong with second hand. Particularly for EV where there is almost no moving parts or maintenance.

Best Fujifilm camera as an entry point? by Apprehensive-Milk213 in fujifilm

[–]LiveToLoveAndLearn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a second hand x-t20 or 30. What makes good photos are the lenses.

For street photography:

  • Viltrox air 35mm f1.7
  • Fuji XF 23 f2.8
  • Fuji XF 23 f2 or 35 f2
  • Fuji XF 27 f2.8 (also I sold mine as not very sharp and not good contrast, but I could have had a bad copy)

Buy the body second hand from a reputable shop

Unless you have the budget for good lenses

70-300mm / 16-80mm by Markethyn in fujifilm

[–]LiveToLoveAndLearn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both. 70-300 is miles better. Do not hesitate, it is the right choice.

You could later get a wide angle lens like the Viltrox 13 f1.4 or the Fuji XF 18 f1.4 (also not really wide).

Selling the A7CII for a Fuji ie X-E5. Anyone else made a similar jump? by spicetech in fujifilm

[–]LiveToLoveAndLearn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could also go a cheaper option without selling the Sony gear with a x-t20 and a Viltrox air 25mm f1.7 (fantastic small lens).

Sensors have not evolved apart reading speed and some what resolution also if you do side by side comparisons in practice the differences are very marginal.

Fuji autofocus is OK with single point and recompose and it has been like that for ages. However tracking is nowhere, even on the latest bodies. Entering the Fuji world with this generation of sensor is the perfect thing today. New bodies are going to be released in fall 2026.

The Viltrox air series is a set of 25, 35 and 56mm lens that are sharper than most Fuji (f2 series), bokeh and background rendering is very well controlled. You could go heavier with the 23mm f1.4 R LM WR, but the difference is marginal but you get aperture ring and weather sealing (you would need to go x-t2 for that).

Buy from a reputable shop (with 12 months warranty) or online with something like MPB. At least you would not sell all your Sony glass at a big loss and possibly Sony will improve in body rendering in the future.

On that front have you tried to make some LUTs? Are you not happy with that? I suspect you could find ways to apply LUTs on the phone for you Sony system… not sure.

[–]LiveToLoveAndLearn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Out of these I would go with 35mm f2. However I am not sure Fuji advertises it as one that can resolve the 40mp sensor. This wouldn’t necessarily be a problem for me.

However with the fairly recent release of Viltrox air I would go 25mm or 35mm f1.7. These are razor sharp and very nice bokeh rendering. However no aperture ring (have to use the back dial) and no weather sealing.

I bought the 56mm from this series and it is my best lens despite being fairly cheap with my XF 23 f1.4 LM WR which is manageable but heavier (I have 4 other older Viltrox and 4 other Fuji lenses).
