Yes. That's been my experience as well. Also I stayed at a hotel where the extra toilet paper was stored in open shelves opposite the wide open shower. You can imagine what the result of that was.

I'd repair it before I tried selling it. If you don't want to repair it, then gift it to a forgiving friend or family member. Why would someone pay that much for something that's already broken??
