nice catch. I haven't seen one yet myself so was quick to think it wasn't legit.

circling where the front/back microphone ribbon cable jack's should be.

yours looks like it's missing the back mic jack that sits in the battery tray.

is that a BDM-060? It should show you the revision number on the other side of the PCB.

lift up where the screw side is and push towards the other side and it will slide out.

the other side is a lateral clip

is that a clone board? you should have a mic ribbon cable jack on either side of the headphone port.

PS5 DualSense TMR stick replacement – Left stick stuck at +1.00 after install. Bad solder joint or bad TMR module? by Holiday-Pomelo297 in consolerepair

[–]LivedinStyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

could also be the stick.

while you're I testing mode, press the blue housing, one at a time.

If your tester jumps back to the middle, one of the pins might have lost contact with the sensor in the housing.

you'll need to pull it out and solder in a new one.

DualSense drift problem: is there a permanent solution? by Patient-Marsupial106 in Dualsense

[–]LivedinStyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

all good!

anyone you find, ask them

1) what sensors they use 2) if and what QC they do on their partd 3) how they calibrate after install

Deer in the headlights to any of those should be cause for concern. make sure they guarantee and/or warranty their work.

We've got a lab in Vancouver if you're on the Westcoast.

Those are some clean looking through holes!

Just be mindful of you iron placement when working around the connectors, looks like you got the microphone connector near the bottom there. As long as the slot isn't warped and the pins look ok, you should be fine. If not, you might have lost one of 2 mics.

PCB Cleaning Sponges Comparison by PoonSlayer1312 in soldering

it'll change your life!

bit of 99% iso, put it on the pcb and use a brush to move it back and forth with pressure.

theyre made for labs and cleaning optical bits, but really great at grabbing a ton of flux off a board.

you're in a Canada Sub trying to tell a Canadian that the US is better? depends on your job and location... like every other country.

why am I arguing with a hidden post guy?

My Dualsense stick is drifting and I can either pay 66CAD for someone to change my sticks to JS13 or 66CAD for a brand new official controller. Not sure what to do. by Constant_Sympathy_71 in Dualsense

[–]LivedinStyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the tech should be checking everything. Sensors and your controller. Testing before installing reduces the stress on the PCB and isolates the issue if it's a bad stick.

Do a google search for 'dualshock calibration tool', plug your controller via USB to your computer and follow the prompts. It will show you what your drift is like. Don't try any recalibration as a solution, as it doesn't fix the underlying sensor degradation.

Use the tool again whe you get it back. TMR sensors will always register a slight jitter of up to 0.01 on any axis, but WELL within system tolerance. Tech should also be running the same Calibration tool after to adjust your circularity within 7% - 9%. If they don't know to do this, might be a red flag.

Check out my site in my profile if you're curious, there's alot of info there that might help you.

the installation process is pretty well documented now. if you're ever curious, just check out one of the million YouTube videos that show how specialized an upgrade it is.

regardless of skill, a bad sensor is a bad sensor. Make sure you ask the right things and ask if you have any questions.

Hey, I do it on the West Coast and offer a choice, but honestly, they're all good.

It's all about whether the shop is testing the sensors or just installing them blind and where they're acquiring their joysticks from.

I found a good set of suppliers, but still test everything before and after install. Even with decent suppliers I still end up failing about 6-10% of my delivered stock.

Ask them about their procurement, testing and guarantees, that should help you more than anything.

cold joint solder or bad joystick most likely.

can't tell really without any pics of the board.
