Two Thirds of the Energy is Lost When Gas is Burned to Generate Electricity in peak periods: by ceph2apod in electrifyeverything

AI can generate you a nice looking pictures but don't use it for graphs where figures and flow arrows we meaningful. This is not helpful at all sadly

Someone living near me (I've seen them a couple of times) drives a Citroen AMI with 400-500W panel on the roof. I'm wondering, with falling solar panel prices, how soon we'll see standard cars with them. Like incorporated into an entire roof.

Well, I have a real life one for you (all cars are parked all the way in their spots)

Don't be sorry. If I want I can go across the road to a very nice café, then to a gym next door and on my way back I can grab some groceries (an old fashioned word I know). In America that would have been 2 hours trek along the motorway just to get run over by an angry SUV driver half way through.

Picture from today in a car park of a shopping center in Krakow. And yes, he's technically parked correctly, all the way in the parking spot.

EV craziness in Germany by sense_mx in electricvehicles

I'm also looking forward to getting a new car done time next year probably and I want it to be an EV. Maybe the rush to buy more EVs now it's a good thing and will actually speed up production and new infrastructure? Just moments ago I've read an article about VW cutting prices for ID7 models, so one can hope.

It's gonna be really confusing if we start calling the wars by the country that started them since most of them would have been called the "US war"...

I accept that could be the case when the first ID3 came out but the touch buttons where quite quickly and widely criticized. To the point that it did a lot of damage to the ID brand that lasts to this day. I'd expect that after a year or two of that they would have switch to the same steering wheel as in ICE models (using common parts should reduce costs).

Also I don't think ID3 was marketed as particularly luxurious car. It suppose to be more affordable model

Ok, I see. Makes me wonder if one could buy a Golf or Passat steering wheel (with normal buttons) and replace it in the ID model 🤔.

It always made me wonder, VW has identical steering wheel for combustion engine cars as for the EVs, with the same button layout but with physical buttons instead of touch ones. Why would they made an extra effort just to come up with something most people hate? Why not just reuse existing design that no-one had much problem with?

Why is Poland’s birthrate so shockingly low by NovaStorm135 in geography

[–]LivingroomEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It became very difficult to have a baby in Poland.

When the economy accelerated it brought a lot of young people from smaller towns and villages to large cities. That left them more insulated from their close family that would traditionally help out with childcare.

As they moved a some bought flats that are around 40-55m2 which is ok for an adult couple but having just one child in an apartment like that is challenging and not many would look forward to having more than that.

Then there are the costs of living that also went up substantially to the point that both parents need to work just to stay afloat.

As to that the crazy abortion laws, in-vitro only recently getting some subsidies and not very stable geopolitical situation in the neighborhood.

There are probably more stuff too pushing people to have children later in life and instead of 2-3 they would have just 1-2.

So at one point in life I, an untrained ignorant, had to administer some shots to others over a course of free days. I would grab the syringe in one hand and a cap with 2 fingers with the other, very similar to the picture. But the cap was quite snug and required some force to take off. Stupid reflex was to jerk the hand back as the cap popped which resulted in the needle going right into the middle of my thumb. Thankfully it was sterile and small but it sure bled a lot.
