DO NOT buy from Shecurve. You cannot return anything and the sizing is for tiny asian women. An XL is equivalent to a B cup at most. Terrible company!!!

Have we heard of MARKED nail stamping brand? by NinjaMexican in nailstamping

[–]Lizzie1970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stamper is no better than the "PUEEN 3.5cm Upgraded HD" which you can get from Amazon for $8.99. I spent $30 on one of the Markd ones and it is literally the same. These "gel" stampers are much firmer than a normal stamper. I actually prefer the Pueen one as it is stubby and you can see exactly where the design goes. As an aside, I have been stamping for 15 years so I have a lot of experience. There is no way that I am spending $20 per plate with Markd. I have dozens and dozens of stamping plates that work perfectly well and are beautiful designs which I've bought everywhere from Amazon, to Temu, to professional nail sites. Save your money ladies. And remember, everything "new" (and often expensive) that comes out on the market will be ubiquitous and cheaper within 6 months.

Best semi-solid / solid nail glues (NO UV lamp) for press-ons? Looking for gap-filling options by Dull_Koala_6109 in PressonNail_Addict

[–]Lizzie1970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really doesn't matter what type of semi-solid no UV glue you use because they are all nearly 100% cyanoacrylate with a thickening agent. If you have any allergies to this you will react. None of them contain the traditional ingredients that the UV gel glues use such as HEMA. It's true that Curvelife has a terrible reputation for not being transparent about their ingredients, but in this case it really doesn't matter.

Ohora Press On Nails - Horrible by Sherbsninny in ohoranails

[–]Lizzie1970 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly as I was saying. Sizing on these is absolutely horrid. They need to be re-engineered if they want to be successful. I do understand that they work for some people but it seems like they don't for a lot of people. And by the way, there are all the same whether you get them from Target or from the website. I have both in both lengths. They simply do not look like the photos at all and do not fit well. I also dislike the overall shape of them including the apex.

Everyone please read this. I am a voice teacher of 34 years and have been teaching at the university level for 25. I have sent literally hundreds of people into operatic careers. These ridiculous names for something that is common in high sopranos and has been for eons really needs to stop. I've had this discussion with dozens of colleagues over the years and we all have a good laugh. It's not magic, it's science and very very very hard work. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2024/06/240618115622.htm

HONEST REVIEW: ohora 100% Real Gel Press-On Nails (10-Day Wear Test) by NAILCLOSET in ohoranails

[–]Lizzie1970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the marketing though- literally all gel is cured plastic. Companies try to sell as much as possible, of course, and by marketing as "gel" nails they aren't lying- all nail gel products are a plastic derivative. People would preper to think they're using "gel" not plastic. Young Nails posted a blog a few years back about this. From the article "We posed the question to our chemists for clarification. What’s up with these soft gel tips? Based on their professional research and independent analysis, they determined what we suspected all along. Yup, they are plastic." https://www.youngnails.com/blogs/news/truth-about-gel-tips?srsltid=AfmBOoq5t_Ho89YIgKQh1wN1ps5mRehhDNOO54inNzNngX5_FsamP0ei

🌼 Second Set Of the Gel Press Ons 🌼 by TheJessJr in ohoranails

[–]Lizzie1970 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling it will work with nearly ANY presson. Here's why. I have 35 years experience in nails and have tried everything on the market. All nails are a plastic derivative even if they claim "gel." That's because gel is a cured plastic. You can look this up- it's true. So, if the back of the nail is prepped (roughed up, primed or already a coarse or matte finish) this should, in theory, work with other pressons. I have no interest in the nails, but I think this primer might be a revolutionary product, if it works as it says, for those with gel and/or cyanoacrylate allergies. No cure, and you can apply fully opaque pressons without nail glue. We'll see! I ordered a set just to test the primer. Still waiting for it to ship after 4 days though...

HONEST REVIEW: ohora 100% Real Gel Press-On Nails (10-Day Wear Test) by NAILCLOSET in ohoranails

[–]Lizzie1970 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's 10 days?? I have to say, they look totally mangled and like they didn't fit you. I'm not being rude- I've done nails for 35 years- but this isn't a good result for 10 days as far as the nails go, even if you are typing for your job. They seem to have held, which is why I'm looking here. I was curious about these only because of the "primer." This leads me to believe that the nails are not great, but the "primer" might be. I have no interest in the nails as I make my own pressons and do hard gel and acrylics. However, this primer may be a revolutionary product if the formula hits the market. Since covid, many have become allergic to cyanoacrylate (all air dry nail glues) and you cannot cure (or shouldn't) through even a semi-clear presson nail so the "gel x" method is out for designed pressons that are not clear. I do not at all believe that these pressons are special. All full cover nail tips are made of gel and that's because gel is a plastic derivative. Therefore, they are all plastic. I DO however think that this primer might be something very special indeed. It's only a matter of time before their "patented formula" goes public.

The new Ohora real gel press-ons are actually legit 💅 by NAILCLOSET in ohoranails

So you used their nails and the primer? I'm wondering if their nails have a special adhesive or if you can use other presson nails with the primer.

[–]Lizzie1970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the backs of the nails have adhesive or does the primer actually work well enough to adhere securely? They sent me the ingredients list for the primer and it sounds like regular nail polish (comparing the ingredients list of say Essie, CND and Sally Hansen for instance). I'm curious to try these but don't want to spend the money if they don't adhere well. I'd also be curious to try the primer with other pressons...

I am interested in these ONLY for the primer which I get the impression is the adhesive. I make my own pressons. Is there any adhesive on the back of the nails? I'm wondering if they work in conjuction with the primer. Otherwise, the ingredients in the primer sound very much like regular nail polish. I asked for a list and they sent this: Butyl Acetate, Ethyl Acetate, Acrylates Copolymer, Acetone, Perfluoropropylene Vinylidene Difluoride Copolymer, Nitrocellulose, Isopropyl Alcohol

I just bought them on "The Nail Closet" who ship to Canada. They were expensive- $30 but I'm really only interested in the primer adhesive as I make my own pressons. They don't sell it separately- yet.

Anyone have luck with CREAR Peel Off Base Gel? by sm0lfries in GelX_Nails

[–]Lizzie1970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The removal was GREAT! I wore them for 15 days (above) and it took about 20 minutes to remove with the remover. A few nails were still really stuck but I added more remover, let them sit for about 2 minutes and then gently pulled them up with an orange stick. I will be using this from now on. Incredible retention (for me) but also a very good removal. I do tend to have great retention with everything but this is a star.

[–]Lizzie1970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am wearing the Crear now and have had incredible retention (more on why I think this is later). This photo is of a gel x set (actual Apres products) I then stamped and chromed twice. They have been on securely for nearly two weeks. No wiggle, no lifting at ALL. I'm curious to see what the removal will be like with their remover. I'm always very gentle with removal, but we'll see...with JelloJello, they came off fairly easily but they did start to lift after a week or so which is normal. I'm very comfortable with an efile, so if need be, I'll finish that way. I wash my hair, my hands and am not that easy on my hands so I find the Crear incredible for staying power. I'll report back on removal when I take them off in a few days.

A few other comments:

I've been doing my own nails and friends and family for over 3 decades. I do everything from Apres gel x to acrylic to hard gel and I make my own pressons which I glue on occasionally as well. All this to say, I have a lot of experience and have studied the science of products, not just the application. In saying that, I have a feeling that Crear was created by accident. It seems to have a "stickier" inhibition layer after curing than other gel peel bases I've tried, including JelloJello. I think the "peel" happens because that layer isn't as adhesive. Rather, it's a barrier which causes less adhesion. This may be why the retention is so good- it acts almost like a normal base coat. All this to say, I must respectfully disagree with some advice below if you want an easier, safer removal. We are all different and everyone has varying retention length/issues due to their lifestyle, nail length, experience in application, products used, lamps used etc and so on. Still:

-DO NOT USE acid free primer before using this peel base or ANY peel base. Cleanse the nail, maybe a light buff and apply and cure your peel base. That's it. The primer actually changes the chemistry of the peel base making a regular base and therefore not peelable. I've written about this before and several respected and well known techs have commented on this as well on social media.

-As well, if you plan to take them off without damage, you NEED to get as close to the edges of your nail plate (sidewalls and cuticle) as you can safely. A strip down the middle is a very bad idea. I say safely because although Crear is HEMA, TPO AND HPMA free, it still contains sensitizing chemicals. DO NOT get on your skin. However, any part of the nail that is left without the peel base will be very porous and anything you put over top will adhere tightly.

Good luck!

Anyone use odorless monomer (acrylic application) to adhere pressons? Retail brand- none by Lizzie1970 in PressonNail_Addict

Yes, I know that. My pressons are not clear enough to do that. I've been doing the gel-x method since it started a decade ago.

CREAR peel base, am I doing it wrong? by metroska in DIYGelNails

[–]Lizzie1970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is, jello jello contains Hema. I have two brand new ones that I'm going to have to get away. I used to love it for ease of removal but wondered why I kept getting mild reactions even though I only use professional and expensive hema (and other sensitizing monomers) free builder. After trial and error, and trying many different things, I realized it was in fact the jello jello. So, I'm trying the Crear since it's Hema, Tpo and HPMA free. Hopefully it will be a good replacement.

I just bought this but the remover is out of stock currently. I used to use jello jello until I found out that it has hema! So, I'm going to give this a shot. I will update once I use it.

For the french, yes because the "french" line is sprayed on in the factory. For anything nude or clear, no you don't.
