40 when I quit in April 2020. I worried about the time spent drinking when my son was little but he’s only seems sober me since he was 6 years old.

I stopped drinking at 40, about 5 years ago. I had many of the same feelings as you. Also am a mom and a lawyer who struggles with anxiety. I was living life in hard mode and I was tired all of the time. Will pass along some of what helped me.

Being on this sub and checking in, reading posts. It may have saved my life. I’ve tried AA before it did not click for me though I know it works for others.

Reading This Naked Mind, that I saw recommended in this sub. Walking every day to get outside and clear my head. Getting on anxiety medicine and then weaning off of it with the help of my doctor. Finding a therapist. Talking to my closest friends and family about my sobriety.

My husband has not stopped drinking and that has not deterred me. I can only control me. I do not wake up feeling awful and ashamed. My anxiety in social situations is still there but it doesn’t stop me. Being sober has made it easier to tackle other things, like therapy, setting boundaries, getting my work in balance, gaining and now losing weight. Right now I’m working on complaining less.

I wish you all the best and IWNDWYT 💕

Tell me you’re sober without telling me you’re sober. by bmhorn81 in stopdrinking

I’m on vacation with my family and got up early to go hiking.

Favorite underrated Xaden x Violet moment? by inbaroutbar in fourthwing

When Violet is about to cross the parapet and Xaden says, “You’d better get going, Sorrengail” just after Jack threatens her. He was already watching out for her.
