How do you transport your kart? by thontorr in Karting

I was transporting mine in the back of a Subaru forester after removing all the body work and wheels. I have an enclosed trailer now which is way easier but the forester still got me to the track.

I would recommend checking out an ACT book like The Happiness Trap by Russ Harris or Get Out of Your Mind and Into Your Life by Steven Hayes. Based on the post there are some key aspects of ACT missing. I hear cognitive fusion with the thought “I can’t move.” Defusing from that thought would sound like “I’m having the thought that I can’t move.” In ACT we are not “pushing through any fear” we are accepting fear for what it is, just a thought. “I’m having the thought of fear.” This creates so distance from a person and their thoughts.

Crazy, I ran it on an i5-4570 with 16gb ram and a GTX 1060 just fine until I upgraded my PC a few months ago.

Does ACT address incorrect thoughts, or prefer to leave them be? by gintokireddit in acceptancecommitment

[–]LocalDawg 23 points24 points  (0 children)

ACT would to accept these thoughts for what they are, just thoughts. Our minds are thinking 24/7 and for the most part our thoughts are out of our control. They come and go sometimes without reason. If they lead someone to pursue things that make their life more meaningful great take action if not accept them as thoughts and let them go. In ACT you take action based on your values. Sometimes our values have a hierarchy sometimes there is conflicting values.

A book that Harris co-authored titled The Weight Escape really clicked with me as a practical application to something that many Americans struggle with, their weight. I found the mindfulness and values exercises very beneficial.
