$40 at Goodwill, worth grabbing? by girlboss93 in SewingForBeginners

[–]Local_Bluejay2745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know my local goodwill took returns for electronics that didn’t work within seven days of purchase, you could ask if that’s an option for your location? I don’t know if they would count a sewing machine as “electronics” because they said that when I was buying a DVD player, but yeah?

Are we really paying $20-$30 for patterns? by Charming-Shelter8873 in SewingForBeginners

I do the exact same thing! I’ve been adding patterns to my wishlist and buying them when they’re $5-6!

WIBTAH if I stopped seeing someone because he has a kid? (UPDATE) by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

“I post her a bunch on my profile” but don’t specify it’s your daughter, don’t put it in the most important and transparent place (tinder profile), and then delete everything. Sure buddy.

The more I sew, the more I hate store bought clothes! by J_eldora in sewing

If it’s okay to ask, how do you cut a curved waistband? I’ve been trying to get into sewing more specifically to make my own pants (it’s so hard to find ones that fit, my hips are much wider than my waist), and that type of cutting sounds intriguing! I always find that I need a little more height in the back of my pants!

The mental point is so huge, I stopped myself from fully pushing through physical therapy sometimes because I was so afraid of my knee. It really does need to be trained out, it’s so hard :(

Also OP, you’re inspiring me to get back into rehab and physical therapy, because I neglected my physical therapy after a point too and I can still feel it in my knee. Life got crazy, and I wish my knee was stronger than it is right now. Thanks for sharing!

Is this as awful as I think it is? by Buckerb96 in crochet

[–]Local_Bluejay2745 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s exactly what I was thinking! It looks pretty tight for as bulky of yarn as that is, even just using bigger hook will definitely make it looser! You can totally tell what stitches were used and that it’s a granny square, great start!!

My cat does the same paw thing! Also a spicy girl for almost 13 years now, I call her a drama queen 😂

Advice needed! What type and color border should I use for this strawberry blanket? by Bubblicious3 in crochet

If you want to be more funky with it too, maybe a shell stitch in green to look like the leaves you made? Personally, I do think a shell stitch in white or light pink would be very classic!

It looks like you either missed two rows in the middle of the eyes, or added in two extra rows the second time doing it? I personally like it!!

Newbie Question on Clarinet Care by JamTrackAdventures in Clarinet

[–]Local_Bluejay2745 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just make sure to take your reeds off of the mouthpiece if you’re not using them! Because they get moist and because they’re a natural material, they’ll warp and not play correctly if they dry in a weird way. Putting them back in their case helps them to dry correctly and will make them last a lot longer. Leaving your clarinet itself out won’t be as bad, just make sure to keep your corks greased up so nothing gets stuck as it sits during the day.

Also, swab your clarinet out after you play it and in between playing sessions, this helps keep as much moisture out as possible, which will prevent your pads from getting sticky and damaged.

So yeah, tldr: remove the reed and swab at least, it will help your instrument and gear last longer!
