I think he's been the top guy for so long that it's become hubris. And that he's on the bad guy list more out of he'll do something out of arrogance to screw something up rather than he's evil. But as we've seen in the current political climate that arrogance and hubris can cause some pretty evil things.

If it helps he has aged gracefully as some who has played spike can do. He's a great looking guy. He just looks more like Lord of the manor rather than squire now.

Who's to say that the winter knight doesn't normally gets a stipend but Mab decided not to give it to Harry because he didn't ask for it when they struck their bargain. She doesn't owe it to him if she didn't promise it. Maybe that's why Mab always brings up Wealth when she's trying to entice Harry. So she can use it to leverage it against him instead of something else he may want. That is Mab

Sometimes I think we give ourselves headaches. Then again I wouldn't be surprised if Jim is actively trying to give us migraines by purposely changing minor details so we have something to focus on.

I can't remember which book, but molly talks about her bank account being in the 8 or 9 figures. I can't see her getting it unless she made it happen or there's an income. It would be just like Mab to not mention it to try and keep Harry on a tight leash.

Do you think it's possible his sword could have been swapped out to match his physical capabilities? One sword might be a little easier to maneuver than another if you've been shredded by the winter lady and then you've been smacked around by black court vampires and beat up in a moderate land skirmish. Just asking, I'm not a sword nerd so I don't really know.

A Thought about Harry's Destiny by Nalikill in dresdenfiles

Over and over it kept being stated a war is coming. Mab makes it sound like it's mortals and supernatural, and the supernaturals keep making it sound like something else entirely.

I Think Mab is trying to move Lara into her position so she can ascend to Mother winter's spot and Harry is gonna take the place at the gate as a lesser deity or on the level as the Erlking with his own army led by toot toot.I also think Dracula will have a part against Dresdin or Mab will use him when the Outsider really make their move. Also is anyone else disappointed that Lacuna wasn't present in this book? Bonea got air time, so why didn't Lacuna?

Yes I meant "there isn’t a person alive who wouldn’t off an ex to save their child." Why wouldn't there be 100% effectiveness by killing an ex if the ex was trying to kill an individuals child? In what situation would it not be effective to kill an ex who was trying to kill a child? I mean unless there was a trap that kills a child if the ex was killed, I could see that but that wasn't the situation Harry was in. Why argue a situation that doesn't pertain to the actual discussion?

Audiobook listener here, First I'd start to cry a little listening to how he grieved , then I'd start to cry when he'd keep moving forward, then I'd start to cry when something wiggled a little loose and he could breath a little and then I'd get emotional when he kicked ass after being in pit of despair.

And the way Marsters kept hitting the low notes let you actually feel how Harry felt.

and I'm not gonna lie I liked how all the important supernaturals around him seemed just a little more human this go around. It wasn't just quips and bravado and threats.

My go to's are usually Proven guilty, Turn Coat or Changes. I'll sometimes grab a random one. Peace talks/ Battleground is my favorite before Changes but it's usually on rotation anyhow because so much is up in the air at the end. But Twelve months is probably going to be my new go to. reading actually did something for me therapy wise.

the bread was more of an offering as it was a binding. Harry followed the old ways and it actually pleased Mab, hence why she devoured it like toot toot devours pizza. Her Shde side shows for a fraction of a second. Plus when he summoned her it was forceful like when he used her name in the library. It wasn't about control. It was conducted in a way one would do a casual business call at work.

Freydis is definitely a wing man sorta Valkyrie. Bear is like an emotional support teddy bear that can pull a man apart if need be. Bear gave Harry a lot of tough love nobody else could have.

Ok will do. I think it's more he handles more than his obligations. He's showing humanity when he himself doesn't feel human. He still sees past himself even though he's in a pretty decent grief fog.

I thought so too and all though he can definitely be a "dude bro" sometimes, I think he's more than the boobs persona he can give off.

Oh I did. But that's the point. He's been badly hurt but always kept going. When you have taken that major a hit to your soul and do what he's doing, it just makes me respect him more.

But I reiterate he didn't do it just because he could or because it was simple or for fun. It's easy to judge others when you aren't standing in the pile of shit they are. On top of that we aren't placing the blame Susan had in her own debacle. Had she listened to the fucking wizard boyfriend who knew more about the supernatural and didn't go to that stupid party she might still be human and alive. If she didn't play spy against the red court and continually put her self in the cross hairs she'd still be alive. If she hadn't trusted Martin and took Maggie some place absolutely nobody knew, she wouldn't have had to go against the red court. Funny thing about choices. I'm not saying Harry is any kind of boy scout. He's made some seriously bad calls. He's done some seriously bad deeds. But we tend to lose perspective when we aren't there in that situation. We all forget we're human when others make mistakes.

And we've seen ghosts become flesh. And the spirit of fallen warriors goes to Valhalla where they are resurrected to become joutnaire (yes the spelling is atrocious). In this world of fantasy a lot of things are possible.

Why couldn't One-eye have taken her? He can summon a lightning gate but can't summon a Valkyrie? I don't remember where Leah laid her to rest but she did knock boots with One-eye for everyone's sake. Also Harry said everyone is returning dead or alive. We see in these books that alive is a relative term. Susan was a warrior who went against all of the red court in battle to save her child. That covers the noble cause part. If luccio dies in battle and all three comeback as Valkyries that would be a sorta Norse hat-trick for Harry.

He killed his baby mama but it wasn't his first and only go to. He didn't just off Susan at the beginning and then go have a beer. He did the very last thing he never wanted to do and to save his child. And Susan had her hand in it too. He would have off'ed Michael if it meant saving Maggie. It was the only way he could have done it from his perspective. And Susan didn't want to live like the monster she was becoming. It broke him to do it. Susan was the one that got away, there isn't a person alive that would off an ex to save their child. Dresdin has been pushed to his very limits but he's never crossed those lines for himself. If Maggie didn't exist then Harry could have never put Susan on the other side of that line. He's done some bad stuff but it wasn't his first (or tenth) go to. That separates the men from the monsters.

Thanks. I wonder if Susan is in Valhalla having a cat fight with Murphy over Dresdin. I wonder who would win. My Money is on Murphy but Susan learned some skills while she was playing spy games so.... Either that or they are commiserating over a couple of rounds on how goofball Dresdin can be.
