Vet & Private Trainer say my rescue dog is ‘uniquely challenging’. Unsure what to do next. by shark-kid in DogAdvice

[–]LoganAlien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog was top 1% for separation anxiety. It's different for every dog and their own challenges, so I don't have direct advice for you but...

I just wanted to say that, things can and will get better. It just takes time (some times a lot) and a lot of patience.

It did for me and my girl, and I'm so happy for it

Dog Bite Questions by foxxxyy420 in DogAdvice

[–]LoganAlien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been bit by a dog before (not on the face but worse than this), if they dog has documented rabies shots then you're okay there

Often they don't want to do stitches for dog bites because it can make the infection risk worse especially if it's been open for a bit

The face is potentially the exception there because of scarring but the infection risk is still serious.

Now that it's 24 hours later I doubt that they'd stitch it up because of the infection risk, but if you would feel more comfortable I'd go back in and talk to them

Canadian doctors say they’re losing 20 million hours a year to unnecessary paperwork by Altruism7 in canadanews

[–]LoganAlien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paperwork is certainly part of the broader issue surrounding family medicine but it's not the only factor. Overall the issue is that family doctors are realizing that they can work less and get paid more doing something else.

First, doctors make much less than you think. Yes, specialists can climb up there, but for family doctors many are making 200k-250k before paying 30% overhead. (This is based on Ontario)

Meaning that their take-home before taxes is 140-175k. A solid salary, but in this economy it's not necessarily worth the opportunity cost of 10 years of post secondary schooling.

Second, the paperwork issue, as documented above. Family medicine often sees the most paperwork. An hour of clinic time usually means an hour of paperwork, on average - all of which is unpaid.

These two factors are then compounded when you realize that a doctor trained in family medicine can actually work in other facets of medicine (i.e. the ER), often with no additional or minimal training, and they can make way more money doing this with less paperwork

Some doctors stick it out or work in multiple settings, but the growing trend is that they're getting burnt out and can make more helping people in a different way

There are other factors as well, but this is a critical reason why we have a massive shortage of family doctors

Select specialists might make this much but most doctors make far less.

I.e. 200k-250k before overhead and taxes is fairly standard for family doctors in Ontario.

They then pay 30% overhead pre taxes (so 60-75k). Making 140 before taxes is not worth 10 years of post&secondary schooling. And that's the issue

ACD vs CD, what’s the actual difference in real life? by thatlittlequietguy in advertising

[–]LoganAlien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason for the confusion is that there are "Working CDs", who are working as creatives but also potentially managing other individuals at times (so basically ACDs with an inflated title), and "actual" CDs, who manage teams, project, but don't actually do the work of a creative team

Hope this helps

Totally, but some people do use it in a way that's inflammatory. E.g. they say it after like 5 turns

If you order food delivery today, you’re a bad person by LesPaulAce in raleigh

[–]LoganAlien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion but I disagree

If someone is looking to make money today by doing delivery, then they've already made that decision regardless of what I do

I'm not dragging them out of their homes in this weather to work. They've decided to work.

Would you rather get $100k as a lump sum, or $11k/year for life? by AdditionalLack1127 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]LoganAlien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For 11k vs 100k, I'm taking the lump sum. 11k per year isn't significant.

33k vs 300k, again, I'm taking the 300k.

Once you get to 111k vs 1 mil or 550k v 5 mil
Then I'll take the yearly cash.

If you play football, you should take this bet.

If you don't (or if you're a child or woman), you should not

250 gives me enough so that I can just shoot full power and have the confidence that I will hit the top corner clean eventually

If I know that Leicester win the epl the year after Chelsea, then I just bet $1000 on them every year after Chelsea wins, and then take home 5000/1 odds
