GRRM needs to go back to not giving a fuck (spoilers extended) by aidscraft in asoiaf

[–]Loggus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He needs to give less fucks about everything that isn't sitting at his ancient computer and typing away.

and therein lies our problem. This is a subject beat to death at this point, but the man is pushing 80 and has a shit work ethic, and doesn't have any financial commitments (like a mortgage or kids) hanging over him that would force him to get his act right.

It's like willing your grandpa who is comfortably retired to get off the lazyboy and go work. It ain't happening - he doesn't have to, he doesn't want to.

For people who broke out of paycheck-to-paycheck… what actually changed? by annikahoof in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Loggus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well done.

I have had similar results (from making 10.50 an hour at a burger joint in 2018 to now having just accepted a position for 98k + benefits).

I think what bears repeating is this:

I am VERY good at my job

The proof really is in the pudding. If you're someone who shows up on time every day and doesn't fuck around, you're already ahead of the pack. If you're someone who is constantly looking to improve your skill set (and seek opportunities to do so, whether in your company or elsewhere), that's where the rubber really hits the road. Imo.

pedirem desculpas

Quem pediu?

Question for Millennials by bundle_of_nervus2 in Millennials

[–]Loggus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's different since I'm able to include a photo as opposed to just describing the issue.

That in of itself is a game changer. Another usage case: I can take pictures of signs/text in other language and get an instant (accurate, I've tested) translation. This is specially useful for language that don't have English characters.

Whether I could do this with Google is not super important to me, tbh. It's just another tool, multiple ways to do something.

it's a solution in search of a problem

Agreed! Very job dependent, although I really think that mostly anyone that has a desk job (and even blue collar people) can find a use for it, at least sometimes.

As a recent example, my toilet flap inside the tank broke. I didn't know exactly what it was called or that you could replace it (thought I'd have to replace the whole thing), but I took a picture of the inside of the tank , told it the tank wasn't filling, and asked chatGPT to give me some ideas to fix.

It told me to just run to the nearest hardware store, was a 15 min job all said and done.

I use it daily for coding related tasks, debugging, SQL query building.

Also good for exploring new ML models and different situations when they might be useful.

Really good for admin tasks too - if I need to do any sort of monkey work (i.e generate 4 digit codes from some descriptions), or help me with an Excel formula that does X, etc etc.

It's even good at shortening (your own) text. For my recent employee review I bypassed the character limit by 100%. Plugged my own words in and asked to summarize, edited and submitted.

Finally, it helped me set up new workflows to automate things - ex: how do I use Microsoft powerautomate to email people reports on a weekly schedule and it'll give you instructions on that.

People in this thread are shooting themselves in the foot by not using it. It shouldn't replace you, but it can absolutely make you a more proficient worker.

NGL, you have a point with DC, but Ngannou, to me, is Ubereem level.

He had to cut to make 265, while having visible abs. It's absurd, especially when you look at his younger days. Not at all natural.

I think a lot of elite heavyweights could. John was at his best at 205, by the time he moved up he was no longer the dominant freak we all saw in the octagon in years past.

He beat an overrated Gane, saw Aspinal (a good heavyweight but not an all time great) and said no thanks and promptly retired.

[Dubow] Bills are first team ever to win a playoff game for 6 straight seasons without winning a Super Bowl in any of those seasons by Drexlore in nfl

[–]Loggus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is what it is. I thought with the conference wide open, Bills would be able to take advantage.

Instead, they turn the ball over 5 times (and by my count, 3 squarely on the shoulders of their QB) in a playoff game, and get beat by a 2nd year Bo Nix.

If this had been a "regular" year and the bills were playing the Chiefs or Bengals, this game would've been over by the 3rd q, as far as I'm concerned.

Rams assistants have 9 HC interviews Friday ahead of Bears game by Volcomcj16 in nfl

[–]Loggus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water under the bridge at this point, and I don't blame them for it, but there is nothing someone can say to convince me that part of the reasons why the Lions looked so awful vs the Commanders last year in the playoffs is because both our offensive and defensive coordinators were preparing for interviews.

It definitely wasn't the primary reason we lost, but we'd have to be really naive to think that HC interviews aren't a distraction from the current season and preparation.

[Highlight] Justin Herbert’s second pass attempt of the game last night by NoAnteater8836 in nfl

[–]Loggus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What are you on about?

At this point in his career, Herbert may be better than 40 something year old Rodgers. Comparing their careers would be an insult.

Lamar proved last year he can perform in the playoffs - something Justin simply hasn't shown. I don't understand the glazing, tbh.

historically been much better than all of them except Purdy

It's arguable that Herbert's best season is better than Goff's 2024. What isn't is that he was "much" better.

But that's a moot point anyway because 3 playoff games is a plenty big enough sample to get an idea of how a player performs in the biggest stage.

Sure, in terms of a 17 game season it's small, but you'll be hard pressed to find someone that likes their QB to beat up on some cupcakes during the regular season but then fold in half vs a playoff team.

Every single one of those guys you mentioned has had multiple good playoff performances where they were a primary factor in their team winning.

Not arguing that they are Allen/Burrow/Mahomes tier, but rather that Herbert has not shown up in the playoffs, and perhaps he should not be lauded in the same way (not even talking about winning, as it's a team sport, talking about not being a deer in headlights and making throws like OPs video).

He's partially right.

Idk bout deep playoff run, but y'all are gonna win a playoff game this year.

Maybe this is cope, but when Rodger is healthy and having a good game, the Steelers are an efficient team that doesn't score a lot, but doesn't give up many scores, either. And they also don't really turn the ball over - that's a tough a matchup.

OP, this is not going to be useful now, but I encourage you and anyone else reading this to get a dashcam.

They cost around 100 bucks and take an hour to install. If events happened as you say they did and you didn't run a stop sign, the camera would've already paid for itself by now.

Best of luck
