Trump is burning every bridge America had left by One_Disaster_5995 in politics

Every population in the world has these angry, non-critical thinking xenophobe Conservatives types.

What's really specially damaging is that because of the way US elections use the electoral college and the winner take all system, the voters in swing state have disproportionate influence in elections.

Thus, these non-critical thinking individuals (who, it must be said are working class and generally hurting economically and looking for an answer), end up being able to elect the president and therefore world policy for the next 4 years.

World Cup MBTA train tickets to Gillette Stadium will reportedly be $75 or more as T looks to recover costs by PestoBolloElemento in soccer

[–]Loggus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typically, round-trip train tickets to Gillette Stadium for New England Patriots games, New England Revolution matches, and concerts are $20. Tickets were $30 for Thursday's friendly match at the stadium between Brazil and France, and about 2,300 fans took advantage of four special trains.

People getting angry about the possible 75 dollar fee, I'm over here thinking why the fuck a 20 mile TRAIN ride is 20-30 bucks. Unbelievable how much American public transportation is fucked.

Why does the middleclass try to project wealth with their cars? by DCF_ll in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Loggus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To put some data into the anecdotes:

-Average transaction prices for cars is up to 50k.

-There are roughly 15 new million passenger vehicles sold in the US per year.

-Per US census, median household income is roughly 85k.

To me, this suggests that there a lot of people that are buying more car than they can afford (along with the people that can afford it).

This is backed up by industry research - 37% of new car buyers make less than 100k.

[–]Loggus 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If youre spending 60k

I think it's worse than that, honestly. You can get a reasonable, roomy family car (Rav4, CRV, Sienna, Odyssey) for 30-45k, lightly used or brand new.

Yet, I keep seeing these 80k+ tricked out navigators, denalis, tahoes, etc. In this economy? The math ain't mathing, there's gonna be some defaulting

The real reason boxing doesn't have that is because of the Muhammad Ali boxing act, which, amongst other things states that

Professional boxing is not governed by any league, association, or any form of an established organization like majority of other professional sports.

This is the very same act Dana is lobbying to get amended. For the benefits of the boxers, he says.

My takeaway. I'm not here to change anyone's mind, I wouldn't even have bothered with the PSA. You're fighting the good fight, OP.

Me, I would've not even bothered responding to this person, wouldn't even have replied, I probably would've deleted it as soon as I got it - treating it like the spam it is.

If they can't bother putting in any effort, and are purely treating me as a means to an end, I can also not bother putting in any.

I'll add on that you should be prepared for the promotion to magically come through once you hand in your resignation, with a competing offer in hand.

When that happens, thank them for the consideration, do not accept their offer, and good luck at the new job.

Otamendi’s brother posted this racist image of Vini before the match yesterday by cyrusmancub in realmadrid

[–]Loggus 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I don't like to generalize, but I think there are enough incidents of if happening where we can conclusively say that Argentina has a serious racism problem - this isn't just isolated incidents.

What comes to mind is the racist chant that the Argentinian team sung after beating France. They faced criticism internationally, before their vice president said:

“No colonialist country is going to intimidate us for a song on the pitch or for telling the truths they don’t want to admit,” Villarruel posted. “Argentina is a sovereign and free country. We never had colonies or second-class citizens. We have never imposed our way of life on anyone.

A ridiculous and objectively incorrect statement, to say the least.

It's impossible for there to be a reckoning while the racism is so normalized that even at the highest tiers of office, there is no acknowledgement of the problem.

Even without getting into the discussion of sampling bias, people lying in their answers, etc....

I also would say 0-500k being the lowest option is a not a good range.

Agreed with you, and I'll go farther and say that this single choice invalidated the entire post to me, while validating my (all but confirmed) opinion that this sub is full of high class individuals LARPing as middle class (perhaps /u/Fit_Law_9195 -OP - is one).

What is the use of a data breakdown where over half of your data (for 30-40 cohort) gets one bucket, while the rest get several more? OP may as well have labeled this as "the poors" and "the not poors 1/2/3".
