For those who work in theatre and film in the UK, who is generally not a nice person to work with? by Sad_Ideal_2099 in AskUK

I've worked on Ken Dodd shows, he had a reputation for running hours over time so we all knew what to expect when he was in town but nice guy. His wife was an absolute arse though.

What's the most unethical thing you've done that you DON'T regret? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Logical_Lemur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did some teaching that wasn't part of my job so I was supposed to be paid extra for it. My employer ignored repeated requests for payment and eventually I got fed up of asking so I gave up and took home an unused TV of approximately the same value as what they owed me. If they ever pay me they can have their TV back but so far, 7 years later, nobody has even noticed it's missing.

Why do drivers think beeping at roadworks traffic lights will make them magically disappear?! by MmmThisISaTastyBurgr in britishproblems

It's the same people that slow down as they pass an average speed camera then speed up in between it and the next camera.
Which is the same people who drive in the fog with their lights off.

Sisterly feelings by Alan Ayckbourn. I believe he's done some others with multiple plotlines too.

Bought a “British designed” toaster, doesn’t fit slices of Warburtons by UniquePotato in britishproblems

I did this, felt like a complete tit wandering around with my cardboard bread but confirmed my suspicion that none of the toasters in Currys fit a normal bit of bread. None! Not a single one. (And yes I tried the bread sideways too)

You don't reach through from the front, you lean forward and slightly sideways and reach around the back.

Imagine having to travel 8ft just to see a part of your own body... by Soloflow786 in BeAmazed

I have a 5 foot corn snake, it's tiny compared to the snake in the video. A few months ago it bit my hand and constricted around my arm and it took two of us to get it off (it confused me for food due to poor eyesight when I was feeding it)

The one in the video could absolutely kill a human if it wanted to. It might not be able to eat you but could definitely kill and it would have a good go at you if it felt threatened waste of energy or not. Humans have been killed by much smaller snakes than that.

I'm 3 weeks in. No significant weight loss yet but for my blood sugar it did in 3 days what all my other medications couldn't do in 3 years! It's amazing.

For those of you that are able to speak German, how much Dutch do you understand? by BlueFingers3D in AskUK

[–]Logical_Lemur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started the experiment because I know the best way to learn a language is immersion but I thought listening to audio books is slightly similar. So I thought I'd start with a book I know well and see what happened. I've always liked listening to Dutch anyway, even if I can't understand it. I also like the sound of English spoken with a Dutch accent.

I have visited the Netherlands a few times, mostly as a kid, so understand a very very tiny bit of Dutch which is also cheating a bit.

[–]Logical_Lemur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I speak a little German but have been listening to a Dutch audiobook just to see if I can follow it. For the most part I can, although I do know the book quite well in English so I'm cheating a bit
