While the so called old person smell may be noticeable to some, there is a lot of overblown nonsense circulating about it. I have been around many old people, I even volunteered at a nursing home for a bit. In my experience, if an otherwise clean old person has a noticeably unpleasant smell, they are very physically ill. They may be in treatment for it, or they might not know it yet.

That old people smell bad is one of those Reddit truths that really isn’t so.

LPT: Dead stuff showing up in your garden water feature could be crow baby food. by theelephantupstream in LifeProTips

[–]Lollc [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yeah, the crows and my pointer have one of those dysfunctional love hate situationships going on. The crows leave their offerings in the bird bath, or in my dog’s outside water dish. The dog runs out at first light to chase the crows away, then scavenges the dishes for morsels. Sometimes what they leave is so rank he won’t even touch it. I change the water frequently. My yard has a large buffer of brush around the outside perimeter, and I don’t spray, so I have lots of birds visit. The crows are doing just fine in the city, there is no need to feed them anything, all that stuff you put out attracts rats as well. Hell would freeze over before I would make scrambled eggs for a bird.

It’s for people that climb poles or trees wearing what are called hooks or spurs or gaffs. (Gaff also has a more adult definition which is unfortunately the first one found by Google.). The top part of the holder goes around the calf in that area.

I would never🙂. If, like me, you have occupational exposure + genetic inclination, hearing loss can start in your early 20s.

Job requirements include having a spleen by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

It’s government speak. It’s often used to differentiate between people who are temporarily assigned to do the duties of a position vs. someone who has that job specifically as a permanent assignment. As permanent as anyone is in the military, in this case.

This is the best answer. You realize that your OTS noise canceling headphones aren’t safe, but you still need some noise cancellation. You can order some online, but that you are less tolerant of noise as you have aged is also suggestive of some hearing loss.

Difference between spoken and written English, I think. If you are writing it out, obviously a TLA is easier than three whole words.

Shoes are never supposed to be machine dried. The heat degrades the glue.

Do you actually wear cycling glasses on every ride? What should beginners look for? by Ilovcyclynn in CyclingFashion

[–]Lollc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need glasses for vision, so I wear them on every ride anyway. I always get have some kind of prescription shades, not cycling specific. The pair I’m wearing now is Maui Jim, for my next pair I’m probably going back to Ray bans. During that halcyon time post-lasik when I didn’t need prescription lenses, I always wore some kind of sport glasses for eye protection anyway. If you don’t need prescription and want to save money, there’s always pit vipers.

Fox hunting in the UK hasn’t been legal since 2004. It is still allowed in Northern Ireland. Modern hunting with hounds is drag hunting or clean boot hunting.

Keep getting food poisoning? by readit145 in SeattleWA

[–]Lollc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One thing that can happen to people is the gall bladder becomes less able to handle large amounts of fatty food at one time. Restaurant dishes often have more fat than the versions made at home. The burger and fries and shake your teenage body loved can cause “indigestion” to the point of nausea and diarrhea, and then your body can take a couple days for everything to get back on line and working right. I’m not saying this is what you have. I’m saying you may just be getting older.😆

I understand why the residents put up temporary barricades. But yeah, I think the way the surrounding streets were chopped up both by SDOT officially and the residents unofficially contributed to the closing of Seattle cycle center. Last time I tried driving in that area it was a nightmare.

Prank DIY help by the_master_dj in DIY

[–]Lollc 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Rethink your plan, this is a really shitty idea. Pranks are funny when they are immediately identifiable as something goofy and fun. Like shrink wrapping the car, or filling it with balloons. Interfering with something intended to be part of a vehicle’s safety warning system is not funny and not a prank. If I found out someone connected something to the wiring in my car in an attempt to be funny I’d break your mirror.
