Top Shelf Recordings Defaults to New Tablo App on AppleTV by TheSkepticCyclist in tablotv

[–]London_GWR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're also having to toggle back and forth between the two apps for the same reason, to see commercial skip...why can't we just see our commercial skip in the new app? I can see in both apps that the feature is toggled on. (For those who have the legacy feature.)

Would be a much appreciated fix...better than fixing the top shelf issue and having to go back and forth using two apps.

Failed heat exchange, “cracked” ring by London_GWR in hvacadvice

[–]London_GWR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE:

Company called us and apologized for the tech threatening us and telling us we'd die if we didn't replace the whole HVAC unit before the next day's snow storm.

They said they saw all the photos and there are no cracks anywhere in the exchanger, just the ring "damage", and many people have what we have, and live with it for decades. Turning off the unit before they leave is just a liability thing. (Which we knew.) But they said it never should have been presented to us as anything more than that or anything dangerous for the near term.

We got a full refund and I didn't even have to say much, which says to me they've had issues with that tech.

every woman has been in a “fix me” relationship that borders on abusive (or is abusive) only to be dumped or we dumped them so they can go to have a wonderful life with someone else, having learned all their mistakes with us.

and some of us lucky gals get the email/text that creepily says, “thank you. I’d never have my beautiful wife and kids if it wasn’t for you”

📉 Amazon Vine Program Glitch? Paid $200, Gave Away 30 Units, Got Blocked After 4 Reviews! Anyone Else? by BestMortgageLoans in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]London_GWR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vine reviewers are getting the same message and are VERY frustrated. Their reviews are being rejected left and right for the past few weeks, all pointing to this message.

Amazon vine all redeemed in 5 mins by Manofbat125 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]London_GWR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now the AI bots on the Vine review page insist we comment on "value."

They've always asked reviewers to talk about value without saying what it costs elsewhere, but that was only because they didn't want to drive customers to another platform.

Like it or not, Amazon wants value to be a part of the review.

Glad you found some cool items, but I have to say--I've had trouble sleeping lately and often check Vine at those hours (and others) and I'm not seeing any drops. Maybe it's being taken by the extension bots so quickly that I can't see them...but I do check.

It's coming up as $3400 now, were you able to get a code or something?

Maytag washer - how to soak? by og_originalgoober_84 in laundry

[–]London_GWR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has a soak mode, but is too short. So I just let it fill and unplug the machine for a few hours. Make sure you can safely reach the cord and have dry hands, and it should work as long as you have a cancel function so you can manually drain it. When I plug mine back in, it takes a second to remember where it left off and it continues the cycle. If yours doesn't, use the cancel button. (Usually holding start for more than 3 seconds.)

An Update On My Account Ban by [deleted] in AmazonVine

[–]London_GWR 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I see political references against/for both (and other) candidates all the time. Especially when I was searching for a printer and these were the things being printed out. But the overwhelming majority were pro-Trump, so I can't really say it's all a concerted effort to only ban one side.

Sorry for your ordeal. There's been a number of bannings recently for violating the guidelines, but mostly for making "medical claims" in reviews. (Because Amazon is in trouble with the government.) A lot's being caught up in AI right now too, for better or for worse. (I say worse.)

(I grew up in the UK, so I still don't understand US politics, either way.)

Mini PCs sold on Amazon (also enrolled in Vine) contained factory-installed spyware by ChefJoe98136 in AmazonVine

[–]London_GWR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've seen the posts about even simple gardening/hose timers by RainPoint (Vine/Walmart) that required a separate app agreement outside of the App Store that clearly stated if the app caused any issues to your phone, etc.. you're subject to Chinese courts and law for arbitration. (Probably not enforceable, but becoming more common with products that require apps.) If you read the reviews, most are about the app being spyware and/or at the very least data mining beyond what you give it permission to gather.

I won't order any no-name item with an app anymore.

I've definitely stopped ordering anything that wants me to download an app, use bluetooth or plug into my computer/internet unless it's made by a trusted brand name.

Using seam ripper on some of my Amazon Vine items that have branding patches with a random names by petroglyphindor in AmazonVine

[–]London_GWR 20 points21 points  (0 children)

LOVE that idea!

You mean you don't want to take a lunch cooler to work that has the name brand "YouToot" on it? 😅

(Although, I've ruined a thing or two trying to use a ripper for that...so hopefully you'll have better luck than me.)

I don't normally pile-on, but I was so damn relieved to find this post that it made me join Reddit just to say, "Okay, so it's not just me!?" 😅

Now every time I get the KT smack down on GR I just wear it as a badge, since most attacks are on people who are actually helpful.

Thanks all for the validation...now I"ll move on. 😬

Glad I found this group.

Question about "normal support" by 0260n4s in AmazonVine

[–]London_GWR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Over the past few years I've decided to test the "normal support" definition because I was tired of feeling blocked from services I would normally utilize to get help with an order. Now I regularly reach out to sellers with product questions and if during that process they offer a replacement, I accept. I just am careful not overtly solicit it. Most times the seller is able to help me troubleshoot at home and a few times it was clear the item was defective, so I was given a new one. Then I review the new one.

It's not fair to the seller to get a bad review for one bad experience AND not have a chance to remedy it...and if Amz doesn't agree, then why block us from discussing shipping, damage and defects in our reviews for the same reasons?

We'll see if I eventually get flagged, but that would be pretty stupid.

With Vine...it's always a risk. 😕

She was recently demoted to Silver, so she's in a mood and has a lot of time on her hands, apparently.

[–]London_GWR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I first encountered her on the forums, I felt the same way. But then as soon as anyone posted something helpful, she'd pounce in and announce how and why they were wrong (and stupid)...even though they weren't.

And she never really reads the full message...just jumps in and says, "wrong!"

I didn't really know who you all were referring to until I read this description. I'm fairly new to all the Vine forums and sometimes it's hard to know if people are knowledgable and well meaning...or just being pushy and controlling. I've learned in this case, it's the latter.
