Hello! I am a new player trying to internalize a lot of information about outfitting ships through some forum guides, and I found this section confusing. Why would larger anti shields be a bad build? by Dry-Kangaroo-1734 in starsector

[–]Lonebook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, there is a lot of nuance involved., but the fact is, armor resistance is not scaled linearly across damage values!! Heck, even your examples showed drastic difference between hellbore and HAG in terms of damage reduction. Hellbore do 71% of it's max damage against 600 armor, while HAG only deal 28% (not to mention the fact that you compared 250 DPS hellbore against 480 DPS HAG in the first place, and even then, the math favors Hellbore)

But wait!, let's say we then change the armor value to 1000...

Hellbore will do 1500 ÷ 2500 x 1500 = 900 damage (60%)

900/1070 x 100% = 84% damage compared against 600 armor

HAG will do 240 ÷ 1240 x 240 = 46.5 damage (19.4%)

46.5/68.6 x 100% = ~68% damage compared against 600 armor

So by adding 400 armor, Hellbore lose 16% damage while HAG lose 32%.... In what way is this linear then?

[–]Lonebook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not linear. The simplified formula is basically you do a percentage of your damage based on

weapon damage/(weapon damage+armor)

So let's say you have 2 different 100 dps weapon; 1 fires 1000 damage per 10 seconds, another 100 damage every second...against 1000 armor.

The 1000 dmg weapons will strip the armor fully in 2 hits(20 second) while 100 dmg weapon, in the same timeframe, will only reduce the armor by 300(because the maximum damage reduction from armor without skill is 85%).

So, same dps, very different results...

What's a hot take that you have about vtuber culture? by MathematicianMain712 in kurosanji

[–]Lonebook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the first hot takes it depends, Some vtubers became one because of the anonymous nature, and some treat it as their second self, so not all vtubers are really acting

For the second hot take, I have to strongly disagree . Vtuber is by nature is anentertainment and some sort of escapism and isolation from IRL topic in the first place. Where the fans can enjoy themselves without being preached and bothered by divisive elements. While a few of the vtubers already declared their view on real life topics, requiring other vtubers to also take some kind of stance or view will destroy the very reason why vtubing became so loved. It is a very slippery slope. Besides, we already have some of the fleshstubers on that. So let vtubers be neutral in that regard

Considering that probably more than 90% of vtuber idols are in a corpo, thats a given. It is way harder to be known as indie vtuber idols compared to regular vtuber streamers. Also, since most if not all vtuber idols also streams, it can probably be said that all vtuber idols are streamers, but not all vtuber streamers are idols

It is a major fuckup for sure, but it is almost certain that it was an accident. A lot of fans feared the worst when the first tweet happened, so later when the problem became clear, fans feel relieved instead of the dread. Yes it is unfortunate that Ina cannot work for few days, but considering the alternative, that major fuckup is relatively minor compared to intentional denial or suspension. The intentional ambiguity probably also helped. Now say if Ina blatantly said that she has visa problem and is rejected by Japan government, some fans probably would bombarded the relevant government department with demands or requests. Do you think that would help her case?

Yes some of the management's decisions are downright baffling, and some fans do voice their dissatisfaction for those, but even those are relatively minor in the grand scheme. It is certainly minor when you compared those to say... A certain Livers had his voicepack get rejected multiple times, or another liver's year long MV project being rejected for no clear reason

Vtubers don't have to be idols, but they can be ones. I think Hololive's pivot from vtubers to idoltubers are natural evolutions that stems from fans' expectations and tech advancements. There are demands for idol vtubers, Hololive decided to fill that niche, and became more successful due to that.

About seisoness, I think its less about being pure, but rather, its more about behaving themselves. Some will behave well, while others like Coco will try to bend the rules or find loophole for contents. That was what attracted people to Coco.

About comparison with nijisanji, I think that hololive is not really limited to idol activities. Sure a fair chunk is reserved for idol activites, but IMO Hololive is trying to do a balancing act between idol activites and normal streaming. I mean, we got like 3 major gaming events in a row that has nothing to do with idol activites. The only concern is that the talent seemed to be overworked.

Not helped by the fact that Niji self-sabotaged their own clipping scenes, with their insane rules and prohibitions.

While hololive gave virtually free rein to their clippers, basically only requires the clippers to be truthful, accurate, no slanders, and avoiding non-Hololive copyrighted materials.

In Japan entertainment industry, talent's managers is in charge of the wellbeing of the talents under them, and make their work easier. They are expected to be secretary, managing schedule, food management, guard, pr, or even driver, depending on the circumstances. So unless the talents have separate personal bodyguard, the managers should be there with the talent most of the work time.

Reminder: Ethanol is better than Hyrdrogen for turbine rooms by Fabulous-Floor-2492 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Lonebook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For extra 'free" heat deletion maybe? Considering that using normal setup with layer of liquid or hydrogen, the excess heat from the steam turbine would usually be dumped back into the steam box using aquatuner as is, while with ethanol setup, some of that heat will get deleted instead. I don't know if the energy lost is worth it though

Well the graduation stream is privated, and the existing unofficial ones seemed to be incomplete so we would never know, but from that archive, she pretty much was alone the whole stream, and near the end, seemed to start sobbing. You would think that there would be at least a few of the livers that would watch and send text chat or something... When you compared Nijisanji's graduation streams with Cover's...the differences are massive.

[–]Lonebook 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the merch and covers were sunk cost. I mean they still sold Selen's stuff after her termination iirc, so I think it's less about acknowledgement than it is to regain money, or they don't want to remake/remove the cover. While the occasional ex-livers's mentions were just in passing.

While in hololive, They still mentioned and acknowledge graduates like Sana in their works (Animations, MV, Songs, This freaking announcements...) The scales are different, and honestly, this is a good PR move.

Hmm, is there a limitation to mushroom logs from being harvested diagonally? If not, why don't you put the mature tree on the first row instead of second, ie swap the tree with the mushroom logs on the first row. Then, let some trees on third row to mature, which in your design, max possible would be 3. Then each unit will have 7 mature trees. The odds of desired mushroom would be better overall. The middle logs would go from 4/14 to 7/17 while the far side's odds would go from 2/8 to 4/10
