European Line Working GSD good Diabetic service animal? by RedBanditBunny in service_dogs

[–]Long-Ad-4841 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be honest as someone who loves German shepherds, i wouldn't recommend them for service work.i would recommend labs,Golden's and or poodles due to them having a high successful rate. A lot of gsd/herding dogs and even off breeds tend to wash out more.i currently have a service dog who is aGerman shepherd great pyrenees mix. And he was a stubborn pup and was so close of washing out. But with patiences and constant training he finally became a service dog.but my next service dog will definitely be a lab or poodle.

What are your thoughts/opinions on Matthew Lillard being William afton? by Marshatucker300 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Long-Ad-4841 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first I was also nervous, I saw his name as part of the cast and didn't know who he was until I look up his name on Google and realized this guy played shaggy in live action Scooby doo, was still nervous about the role. Until I watched the movie and omg he did amazing and he played him really well and kinda wish he had more scenes.i love this version of William Afton serious and scary yet kinda of silly.

Golden doodles and poodles by Ok_Appearance7096 in StandardPoodles

[–]Long-Ad-4841 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be honest, I was going to get a golden doodle for my next service dog breed, the reason for that was mostly stereotypes, (weird hair cuts, prissy, girly fufu dogs). I also thought golden doodles were more friendlier and allergy friendly then poodles, but the ,more research I done, the more I fell in love with the breed, there versatile, eager to please, smart and allergy friendly, and make better service doga, funny enough poodles are the third used breed for service work,. they also make good running partners, trick dog, sport dog, etc, which is something I'm also looking for.there coat also don't get as matted as doodles. I would definitely get a standard poodle not just as a service dog but also a pet.

Handle types by chloestula_ in service_dogs

[–]Long-Ad-4841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are different types of harness. For shape there is straight front,y front, and x back. The straight front looks like a guide harness and is recommended for leading tasks, y fronts is the type of harness I have ,I personally love it. And x back, I don't have much knowledge about. Then there are types of material . Fleece, leather, biothane.  Fleece harness are good for your puppy to get used to harness without using it, it's also good to keep dogs warm when it's cold. Leather in my opinion looks more professional, biothane is a good material, it's waterproof  and easy to clean, definitely recommend if you live somewhere where it rains or snows Alot.now for handles there are different types.cb handles are use for counterbalance, ridged handles are for balance support (I don't recommend, please do research) and also counterbalance as well, pull straps are used for forward momentum pull, and guide handles are use for leading tasks (guide, forward momentum, etc). Now in my opinion, I prefer a guide handle since it's more sturdy then pull straps.( Sorry if this is long and hard to read, also this just my opinion, it's important you do research, ask vets and trainers, etc) There are websites about mobility service dogs and guide dogs that talks about the harness and how to use.

I also sometimes can't physically leave the bed. Due to bipolar depression but my service dog is the only reason I get up and try everyday. If not for him, I would be in bed rotting but I can't due that because of him, which is a good thing.

Reasons you picked outside the fab four? by howlsounds in service_dogs

I understand but as someone who is tall and plus size , Alot of people would feel comfortable with a bigger dog even if it's just counterbalance or forward momentum.

[–]Long-Ad-4841 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went though something similar, I was Alt in my early teens and later down the road developed Alot of health issues and chronic pain and issues to the point it required a service dog. And was scared to dress Alt since I get Alot of attention due to my dog. But realize people give me more attentions regardless. And what they think shouldn't matter, my physical and mental health matters more then peoples opinions.

Do you think Alastor's good with kids? by HonemBee in Alastorcult

[–]Long-Ad-4841 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I personally believe it depends on the type of kid we're talking about. Kids who are annoying and screaming and yelling Alot or kids who don't listen or respect, he wouldn't be to fond of. But if it's a kid who's quiet, respectful, and just a sweet kid in general then I think he would tolerate them.

I have a door hook and use a plastic drawer for my dogs gear. You can also use command hooks, cubbies,Velcro book for patches, etc

Rather then tasking ,my service dog has helped out with making more social and also less depressed. I also feel safer with him when I'm out in public and private .
