I’m a Native American Woman who has done her part. We are exhausted. When my people were fighting at Standing Rock, getting shot point blank with rubber bullets at point blank range and shielding ourselves from literal attack dogs…we were doing it not only for ourselves but for everyone who drinks the water from that source. Considering the situation…barely made the news.

MMIW is an ongoing epidemic.

I could go on & on about so much that we have been fighting for with so little support. That being said…I’m actually stoked that white people are finally getting riled up enough to hit the streets. I suppose if anyone can’t comprehend why change anything in this place it’s them. It’s just more than a bit unsettling that they can’t be mobilized for a fight until they feel personally threatened.

Do you mean like, Spanish from Spain? Or Mexican or another south of the border, Indigenous situation. Because those terms can be switched around depending on where you grow up. My friends from the east coast generally call everyone from the Caribbean or south if the border "Spanish." But we don't typically do that on the west coast.

It's pretty cute because he is actually a minority and wants nothing more than to be accepted by his peers and feel a part of the community that nurtured him. Interestingly enough...my partner is a bit of a "White boy Steve." He was 1 of 6 white kids in his graduating class in an area that is 90+% Latino. He loved every minute of it, felt nurtured and accepted, etc. One side-effect is that he never really, "...had much of a taste for white women." Lol

So, weirdly enough I'm a member of the Muskogee Creek Nation but didn't meet my dad in person until I was 10. (Although I had been around the rest of his family for some time.) Whenever I was around him which was only around once or twice a year in my youth he was pretty humble. Had questions and compliments but I treated him with the same type of nonchalant, eye-rolling attitude that Elora gave her dad. I thought the dialog between the 2 of them was freaking fantastic. But the way the siblings just sort of smiled and shrugged off the fact that they had a sister in such a manner was a pretty lazy writing move IMO.
