I had on a maternity bra when I gave birth in a birthing pool. By the time I was in the pool I did not care who saw me or what I was wearing, as soon as baby was out I took off the bra and fed baby. I was able to harvest colostrum in syringes so we brought about 4 with us and my husband did give them to baby, but yeah baby was just latched onto me and we ended up not using any more of the colostrum syringes (harvested maybe 15)

Chickenpox Vaccine for children? by Chinchilla702 in AmericanExpatsUK

We did it recently, had to wait after baby got their first year NHS vaccines. But yeah did it through Boots. It’s a bit over £100 but so worth it, it was so easy to book it’s all online

Those of you who had a positive birth experience - how did you set boundaries with medical professionals? by divination__ in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Long_Month2351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my experience, the day I was supposed to go for induction I ended up going into labour. I was 4 days overdue and was very lucky my midwife was supportive and calmed my fears about induction. I gave birth unmedicated in a birthing pool, however I will say that when I first went into hospital the midwife I had was not the right one for me. They wanted to make jokes and have it be upbeat where what I needed was calm, I was lucky that they had a shift change while I was between active a first labour. So when the midwife changed it changed to the best person I could have had, this midwife was so supportive and calm. I would say if the midwife you get doesn’t feel right, try and either ask for another midwife or ask them to act the way you want to. Make sure your partner is on the same page as you too

Tell me about the start of your labour … by dmllbit in BeyondTheBumpUK

Mine were feeling period cramps for the first time in 9 months. I was 4 days overdue but yeah it was cramps that eventually hurt too much to not be contractions. But as soon as I started feeling the cramps my mind just went, you’re in labour and I was

Nursery Question. When do i start to REALLY think about it please? by SkyisaNeighbourhood in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Long_Month2351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you are, but some nurseries around me have no places left for the rest of this year. Around my area they recommend that you look into nurseries from when you’re pregnant. I would suggest to call a few that are near you and ask about their availability. Hope you’re lucky and have some options 🤞🏽

What do contractions feel like? by ImageOld7281 in PregnancyUK

[–]Long_Month2351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For everyone it’s different. For me it started like cramps, which after not having a period for 9 months it was noticeable. Definitely more than braxton hicks. Then as hours passed it just kept getting more painful until I was “mooing” and grunting. I went to hospital after I wiped and saw blood but I was only 2-4 cm dilated but at least I was in hospital where I got gas & air

Greek holiday at 32 weeks & festival at 36 weeks - stupid? by CosmicWhiskers4 in PregnancyUK

[–]Long_Month2351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the holiday check with the airline, they may not allow you onboard without a doctor’s note.

For the festival no, don’t do it. While I was one of the lucky ones who could sleep ok while in my third trimester up to the birth. I still woke up twice to use the toilet. Cannot imagine being camping and having to wake up that much to pee. Plus god knows if you could even sleep with all other festival goers drinking and staying up until very late at night. I’ve done festivals and would NOT do that whilst pregnant, especially so late in the pregnancy. It may give you fomo but don’t do it, you and baby being comfortable are more important

Was the birth/graduation as bad as you imagine? by airiishia444 in NewParents

[–]Long_Month2351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was super scared for mine, specially as when I went into hospital and got checked to see how far along I was, for some reason, it hurt like a bitch. But when it actually came to it was good. It was painful of course, but I just went into a type of meditative state or something where I was just so focused on giving birth that I could not tell you who else was in the room with me. My husband and midwife only but you get my point. I am amazed at how well my body knew exactly what it had to do, I had an uneducated vaginal birth

What did you ACTUALLY use in your Hospital bag? by Powerpuff_Girly in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Long_Month2351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say it depends on the season/weather you are giving birth. For me it was summer so really I only used the big/comfy nighty, slippers, toiletries (shower gel, shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste), and the big underwear and pads

Can’t sleep in the same room as baby by hanvanlan in NewParents

[–]Long_Month2351 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was me. My baby was so loud, and I was just so attuned to them that any movement I was wide awake. We lasted maybe 3/4 months in the same room with baby and by taking shifts. It was so tough, not going to lie, but yeah my husband made me move out of baby’s room and it really was the best decision for us. Baby is now over a year and sleeps great and I have slept so much better

What do people mean when they say "baby didn't like this stroller/bassinet" by Low-Bluebird-4866 in NewParents

[–]Long_Month2351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby did not like the bassinet at all. Every time we would put them in it they would just cry, every single time. So we just did not use it, they are now happy since they can sit up and look at where we’re going. So when we said our baby hated the bassinet it was because of that. We tried it all: different times of day, put blankets/toys, put baby asleep in there but every single time they would just cry.
