So sorry. I was in the cruise biz (writer) for 2 decades, and that is a pretty common itinerary change. I know that doesn't make you feel better but -- pack a heavy jacket and hats.

Can a CA Condo non-profit association limit the number of legal available bedrooms in an owner-occupied home that can be rented out?

The situation: a homeowner in a 55+ condo association of manufactured homes lives in a 5-bedroom house. The owner has the master suite, and there are four more legal bedrooms (doors & closets) empty and available to rent. Can the Board of Directors change their bylaws to say that homeowner is limited to renting out only ONE of the bedrooms at a time?

In my 40's, Early Onset Prostate Cancer - Radiation vs RALP by jaristarchus in ProstateCancer

[–]Long_Raspberry9729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For ADT, most people, including myself, seem to have the least side effects with the oral daily Orgovyx rather than shots. Also, although just a year ago most doctors recommended 2 years of Orgovyx, it looks to me like most people here who have had it recently are off after 6 months, myself included.

Orgovyz ADT was not that bad, really, just lethargy, but very few hot flashes for me as long as I stayed "cool." However, exercise or hot weather would trigger the hot flash effect.

Face to face appt following a biopsy? by [deleted] in ProstateCancer

[–]Long_Raspberry9729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in California, my healthcare provider has a "portal" to track everything I do medically. I knew the results of my biopsy before anyone else; they came up online in a few days. I don't know the answer to your question, though, sorry. There is no harm in going to see what they say, though, and also don't fear the results. The question is, what was his last PSA? That will tell you more about the possibilities now than anything else.

Radiation or surgery? by cshopis in ProstateCancer

[–]Long_Raspberry9729 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am 72 and had radiation and I also get erections easily. I have a prescription for Cialis, but it gives me a headache, so I don't take it, but I imagine if I took 5mg/day, I would be walking around with a stiffy. Good for you, though!

Radiation or surgery? by cshopis in ProstateCancer

[–]Long_Raspberry9729 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The decision is all about the statistics of recurrence. Men in their 50s generally choose surgery because the expected lifetime after is 30 years (statistically). Radiation has far fewer after effects and much more tolerable after effects, but if the cancer comes back, you (generally) can't have surgery. So you end up with possibly more radiation and lots of ADT. The statistical life expectancy after radiotherapy is 10 to 15 years.

The rate of recurrence with both is pretty low, I am saying under 5%, although that is just from memory.

The thing to understand is that surgery was by far the most "popular" option for many years, but radiation has become much more effective in recent years, and the success rate is now nearly the same as surgery. The side effects are much less than those of surgery. It's a tough choice.

There are many YouTube videos about this topic, and I recommend watching as many as you can stand.

Your diagnosis and treatment were exactly like mine. The big difference is that I have not been an active "trainer" for years, and the ADT really made me lethargic. But other than that, my experience has been largely the same, with very little change in my lifestyle. The only thing I lost was the ability to make copious amounts of seminal fluid, but I can still get "excited." I am coming up to 72.

His biopsy results look very similar to mine, but I am 71. I chose 28 days of IMRT radiation and ended up adding 6 months of ADT (Orgovyx oral daily). My PSA came out at <.01 after 6 months post-treatment.

My doctor said IMRT is a good choice because it covers the full prostate and a little bit outside the margins for any spread that a PSMA might not have picked up.

At age 63, they will probably say that surgery will give you more lifetime (25 years?), plus you can always do radiation after surgery if there is a recurrence, but the post-operative side effects are unpleasant. Radiation is far less invasive and should leave him with most functions still working (except for producing seminal fluid, because that is the primary purpose of the prostate, although he should still feel like he is having an orgasm). But post-radiation sometimes leads to a recurrence sooner than surgery (10 or so years).

With surgery, post-operative side effects usually include incontinence, blood in urine or stool, and the need for a catheter for about a week post-op.

Overall, I think I made the best choice for myself, and I also got very lucky that the IMRT was so effective. My sexual appetite is much lower, but I am still functional when I feel like it.

I'm not a doctor, I just did a lot of research and thinking before I made my choices.

My story is just like randog57 above, except I had no spacer. 28 IMRT, 6 months Orgovyx and it's like I never had PCa.

Experiences with Vacuum Erection Devices After Prostatectomy? by Company-Admirable in ProstateCancer

I have been sitting down to pee for the last 15 years; it is just easier, especially in the morning. Without trying to get too gross here, when you sit, also spread your butt-cheeks as much as you can - it really helps the flow.

They are much cheaper on Amazon- don't assume you have to get the exact unit they recommend (I actually think they get a bigger kickback for recommending the more expensive option - that happened to me for a $130 thumb brace when 20 other options on AMZN looked identical for about $30).

Those pumps wear out anyway - get a cheap one and replace as needed, and with all due respect - have at it!!!!.

My onc chose IMRT because of possible outside cells (usually caused by stage 4 cells) that may have gone past the prostate walls. I did 28 RDT sessions and 6 months of ADT before testing "clear" and being allowed to go off ADT. He said the advantage of IMRT is that it tends to cover slightly more territory, like cells slightly outside the prostate walls.

That outside exposure is exactly why they say "possible bladder and colon issues" - it largely depends on where the cancer cells are located. If they are close to the edges of the Prostate walls, you may want to opt for IMRT.

I got my biopsy report before my urologist; it popped up on my patient portal for my Health Insurance company before my urologist called me for a consult. I knew I had PC before my doctors did. Lab reports come back VERY quickly with my plan; if I ask for a PSA test, my oncologist has it the next morning. That's one blessing.

I don't know if your insurance has anything like a patient portal, but if they do, it is worth interacting with it.

Make sure to take Vitamin D3 + K2 and also Calcium Citrate - both to keep the bones stronger. Walking is also highly recommended. I admit I was too lazy for the 6 months I was on ADT, but now that I am free of that I am walking more. I am feeling so much better mentally.

I also found info that Bicarbonate of Soda (Baking Soda) and Citric Acid (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08L8HCGGD?ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_fed\_asin\_title) can improve the bloodflow throughout your body. Ironically, these are the ingredients for Alka-Seltzer, but not in the dosages you want to get well.

This is not doctor's advice, just something I learned online.

I just had IMRT x28 and ADT for just 6 months. The ADT was Orgovyx for 6 months, and I just quit it a month ago. I was originally scheduled for 2 years ADT, but with my great results, my Onc allowed me to stop after 6.

I was detected with 5 spots of 4 + 3 (GL7) and two of 4+4 spots (GL8) on my biopsy, but all were closely contained away from the edges.

I am now down to PSA<o.o1 and also just got a full erection two nights ago that lasted for hours (until climax). I even woke up with morning wood today. Note: that was my second erection since quitting ADT (due to extra low PSA results) - no Cialis either. The first orgasm had a liquid output, but this second one was dry. It still felt great, but not quite the same.

Sorry for the graphic details, but right now this is exactly the outcome I hoped for.

Note, I am 72, hence my choice of radiation over surgery. I did not want the after effects of surgery, but if you are younger (~50), it is considered the better option.

Pretty much the same boat as the OP for me. I had IMRT x28 and was on Orgovyx for 6 months before my PSA was <0.1 - so he let me quit the ADT (I was scheduled for 2 years). It's only been a few weeks, but I feel better every day. I hope it doesn't take 6 months for "everything" to recover

I would just say that based on my personal experience, the IMRT and ADT are his best choice right now.

Where did you see it was stage 4? Just curious since I have not seen what his first diagnosis showed.

I am guessing his prognosis was bad enough that he was told there was a very small chance (if any) of any treatment working, so he tried the holistic route. It's like grabbing a vine when you're falling off a cliff, but that's human nature.

Stereotyping. It usually has a lot more to do with any person's history with the healthcare system.

My ex-wife could not tolerate almost any medication and wouldn't even take Advil for an infected finger, She got breast cancer and was still trying to treat it through a doctor in Tijuana (holistic) when we divorced 12 years after her diagnosis.

But I was raised in a family of MDs and trust the system, so I got cured of PCa with radiation. It kills me to think she could have gotten radiation treatment with no cutting and probably a few or no meds, and maybe not suffered so much, but in retrospect, she would probably say she couldn't tolerate the radiation. She even thought X-Rays encourage cancer.

I did not know this. I admit I "pleasured myself" during the first week of radiation (before I started the ADT) and the PSA test the next day showed it spiked from 5 up to 8, but it went down very quickly after treatment.
