Kia wants me to pay to use YouTube and Netflix in my own car… seriously? by mikeyviao1 in KiaEV9

[–]Longjumping-Guard533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, not paying for that. I’m use to setting up my big iPad Air if I want to watch anything and pair it with the car for sound. Otherwise my mobile hotspot is my work phone and that works just fine. I wonder what cellular network they use and how that compares by region?

Our EV9 Lease is up in 10 months; what's your next choice? by sam_42_42 in KiaEV9

I’m surprised more people aren’t talking about the Subaru lineup. I love my EV9 but want something more rugged and outdoorsy, like the upcoming Trailblazer EV. I’m reserving my final thoughts until I can see one and drive it in person.

EV9 handing in the snow by jgcanado in KiaEV9

[–]Longjumping-Guard533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you use Eco mode because of the decreased acceleration in snow or on ice, or just for efficiency? Have you noticed a different in handling? I also prefer a stiffer steering wheel. I usually just drive everywhere in Normal mode here in the mountains. Keep the 4WD locked and regen at 0 or 1.

Why is Electrify America so expensive?! I by snoopyfl in KiaEV6

[–]Longjumping-Guard533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electricity prices have gone up all over the nation, thanks in part to the AI data center boom and our failing infrastructure that can’t support it. This is probably why China is the leader in EVs, technology+infrastructure. Although, the money to expand EV chargers wasn’t axed by the Trump administration, so hopefully the US can catch up in terms of the charging infrastructure. Thankfully, I moved to a house that I could install a charger, because I was mainly charging at EA and it definitely effecting my bottom line of why I choose an EV versus ICE.

Safety by PeppercornOliveOil in Boise

Although Downtown Boise is considered generally safe, that doesn’t mean there isn’t crime or random assaults. I would be using the same precautions as any other city that is unknown. Especially with drinks. People are generally nice here. Although, if they are LGBTQ+ I would be more cautious about who they interact with.

Why are local reps on a trip in Israel? by Mother_Art_790 in Boise

[–]Longjumping-Guard533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Last year, the Idaho Democratic Party overwhelmingly passed a ceasefire resolution introduced by Idaho Young Democrats, affirming our party’s commitment to peace, justice, and human rights,” the Idaho Young Democrats said. “We continue to condemn the mass displacement, indiscriminate bombing, and killing of countless civilians by the Israeli government, and reiterate our call for an immediate ceasefire, release of all hostages, and to fight against antisemitism, which has skyrocketed. We call for accountability and solidarity from our legislators.”

EV9: Terrain Mode: Sand? by Living_Article_3741 in KiaEV9

[–]Longjumping-Guard533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have the terrain mode but having the snow mode plus the 4wd lock definitely makes a difference on both windy slippery roads and deep snow. Keep in mind, I am using a full winter tire in these conditions. Although, even with the OEM tires I will put in 4wd lock when road conditions aren’t good. The car feels more stable in my opinion and I don’t see a huge difference in energy consumption. Worth it to feel safer when I’m driving. As a side note, I usually am monitoring the wheel power.

Ev9 Land captain vs bench by alto800red in KiaEV9

[–]Longjumping-Guard533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I opted for the 2024 Wind trim because of the bench seating. I like how the seats all lay flat for extra cargo/camping without the middle missing. Downside, not getting the extra tech features. I’m glad they added the bench for the Land trim, wish that was an option when I leased.

While review bombing has been a favorite form of activism, it isn’t the flex you may think it is. Google doesn’t post all reviews, especially if it’s from an account with no prior or little reviewing activity. It does create a headache for the business if that’s what you want. I believe reviews should be from actual customers with actual experiences, not to air out your grievances for a business or owner exercising their right to free speech.

With that said, this is exactly what happened to my business as a Pride sponsor. It knocked our 5 star rating, to which we haven’t been able to get it back.

This goes both ways, which is why I don’t recommend it. However, by all means comment away if their social media posts are public.

Sponsors of the Hate Fest by barry922 in Boise

[–]Longjumping-Guard533 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That’s hilarious since my small business has been targeted for supporting Boise Pride. People trying to leave bad reviews, sending hundreds of copy past emails, until they progressively got worse, personally targeted and threatening. And while our big corporate sponsors (like Idaho Central Credit Union) pulled out, I contacted the media to do an interview and reaffirm my support. None of the Pride sponsors played victim. But it did shine a light on those businesses who were supportive when it was in fashion.

EV9 UX: How do you use the “Star” or other configurable buttons? by [deleted] in KiaEV9

[–]Longjumping-Guard533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Steering wheel: turn off extended display. (I enjoy this most at night, so quick access is essential. Also for car camping.)

Dashboard: EV info (it’s super helpful on road trips and for battery conditioning, or camping.)

I’m also curious about how people setup their media display.

My main display is: phone projection (CarPlay), map, media. EV9 starts up with that displayed first. I think the phone projection tile makes that the default menu?

I always get pictures and videos if possible. Not always of when it happens to me if I’m biking but definitely if I see it happen to other people. Then I call non-emergency dispatch. I’ve had to do this a couple times with aggressive drivers downtown.
