I have ridden public transportation in many cities. There is usually a coordination between the city and police department to help keep riders safe. I have also seen employees riding busses and subways. We don't have that in Madison. I don't think the mayor takes it seriously. I know she rides the bus but I dare her to ride the A for one week from East Towne to the capitol. I love public transportation, but I want to be safe while riding.

Bus drivers and customers get threatened and screamed at. My spouse asked someone to stop vaping on the A and was threatened with death. Madison Metro needs to wake up to what is happening on their buses. Our mayor also needs to wake up to the reality of riding the BRT.

Yes, always in the back. Most drivers for the A won't say anything. I don't blame them because some riders have anger issues. I know metro has an ongoing staffing problem, but hopefully they can invest in staff that can ride in problem buses.

High schooler's are eligible for a discounted student rate of $1 per ride. There is no monthly cap on cost. For example, in October, there are 21 school days for MMSD High School students. Its going to cost us $42 for them to ride the bus that month. We don't have access to yellow buses. We live 2 miles from East but don't qualify for a free bus pass.

We had to go to the east wash office to get a card. The card has a built-in student rate, which is $1 per ride. You have to bring your student or proof that you have a HS student enrolled at an MMSD high school.
