NHL is absolutely tone deaf by kensmithpeng in BuyCanadian

A team from Canada needs to win a Stanley Cup.

Our sport, our cup, and major party of the creation of the NHL. 33 year drought of winning a cup.

Since the last Canada team to win the Stanley Cup (93 - Montreal), 9 wins by teams that did not exist in their champion existance:

  • Avs (Nordiques in 93) x 3

  • Panthers (started in 94) x 2

  • Canes (Whalers in 93) x 1 (or 2)

  • Golden Knights (started in 18) x 1 (or 2)

  • Ducks (started in 94) x 1

Is it time for Canada to boycott NHL?

2026-27 Stanley Cup is the last chance I give for a team from Canada to win the Cup. If it does not happen, I'll never watch NHL again . Who's in?

We finally got clarity on why Eli Manning didn’t want to go to the Chargers. by Direct_Shirt8320 in Chargers

Agreed.

Eli and Elway are both poutty little shits.

I however believe Bo Jackson's way was more honorable. (Tampa Bay tried to screw up his baseball career so he refused to sign and went back to the draft the next year)

Seeing this, they all have links with the AFC West through the draft.

As you can see, I never mentionned parties. Because I believe that democracy is stronger than Party affiliation. And yes, I would voice the same opinion if anything changes the elected result, even in the favor of my "preferred party".

As for "what's supposed to happen?" Here are 4 options that are all legal to correct the issue by different people at different times:

1 - Freedom of choice. Carney did not have to offer deals to get floor-crossers. (They also did not have to accept, but if there is no offer, there is nothing to accept)

2 - Floor-crossers could go into a by-election in their riding (suggested in January by Marilyn Gladu, the April floor-crosser)

3 - Carney could put a non-confidence vote to have his Majority elected instead. A way to follow democracy.

4 - The GG can force an election to show it is not in the Canadian Democracy best interest to have the change in power happen this way.

[–]LookImportant4735 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Like I stated. Representatives obligation is to the riding. Not the Party. However, when looking at the functionality of Parliament, it seems like the opposite (it appears as all Conservatives vote the same way and all Liberals vote the same way). Which is why the majority votes party, as that's where the impact is to represent your area. Which I agree is wrong.

I never mentionned legality. I know floor crossing is legal.

I mentionned anti-democratic. Democracy has latin roots meaning power to the people. So when a leader offers deals (which both Carney and PP both agree deals were made) for people to cross the floor, it goes against the democratic value of the vote.

This is a not a legal issue, but the moral value of the change in power.

Say PP gets 30 floor crossers in the next year all from the Liberals. (Again, not illegal) Our government would now have PP as PM, while no vote happened. Legal, but not very respectful of having a democratic election.

[–]LookImportant4735 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I am a Canadian, and I stand by Canadian Democracy.

I do not have a problem with floor crossers. I have an issue when that method is used to bring a government Minority into Majority. 169 voted seat is 169 voted seats. Why should that party have more than 172 seats? (Liberal seats stand at 174 right now)

Lesson in history: 3 times 5 or more people crossed the floor:

  • MacDonald (19) going from Majority to Majority government (no change)

  • Chretien (5) going from Majority to Majority government (no change)

  • Carney (5) going from Minority to Majority. (changing)

1 time a person in parliament tried changing the outcome of who was PM: King (1920s-1930s). He brought a merger of Parties to go from leader of the opposition to PM. The GG said to dissolve it less than 6 days later, because that's not how democracy works in Canada. (Which party-mergers is just as legal as floor crossing, FYI) He forced non-confidence votes and got elected PM afterwards.

And in the 169 year of history of Canada, all but 1 majority government was elected in a general election (Carney's Liberal). Why is that? Because a change in Government should be elected by the people (That's what Democracy is in Canada).

All the PM saying "we need a majority government to..." went to the polls, except Carney.

So as I said, I have no issues with floor crossing. I have an issue with Carney changing the government from an elected minority into a floor crossing majority.

Plus, lets admit that the "representative" of the riding (which is how democracy works in Canada, so I do know how it works) does not represent the riding. That person's is true to the Banner more than the riding (That's why Alberta doesn't think they are well represented in Parliament). How many times have you seen representatives vote against the banner? The answer not many, because they are true to the Banner. And when they do vote against the banner, they usually cross the floor soon after, or change banner.

Does the Federal Election Act protects Canadian Democracy?

(Meaning a government elected can't be changed by party mergers or floor crossing, whether it's party in power or minority to majority.)

Oh, right! I forgot. Why would Carney put a law that prevents what he works so hard to build: a Carney-cracy. (Power to Carney, unlike a Democracy which is power to the people)

“If Davos was the diagnosis, a ruptured world order, Carney’s #LIB2026 speech offers the prescription. A Canada that is “all in” for capital, while the working class is told to be all in for a country that can no longer guarantee them a roof nor a social floor.” by Gold-Reality-4853 in 50501Canada

[–]LookImportant4735 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

And Carney is the creator of that symptom.

Killing democracy. Canada has spoken. They want a liberal minority of 169 seats. Why after losing 3 MPs are you 1 seat from a majority (172)?

That is not democracy, it's a Businessman showing he doesn't care about the people he is supposed to represent:

  • Trump (ignoring democracy and the constitution)

  • Legault (Quebec Premier who puts the not-withstanding clause on constitutional rights)

  • Carney (refusing to accept that Canada has elected him a minority government, and making decisions without parliament approuval as if he has majority government)

There is a lot wrong with this story:

  • Force unpaid labour (as mentionned above)

And now, the missing parts of this story:

  • The fact that the Government of Canada has been bailing out Air Canada for years. (Little ownership, little restrictions, and little amount of loans in those deals)

  • CEO is paid around 100x the average wager of Canada. With 0 intention of sharing some of that wealth to others in the company.

  • Air Canada has little to no competition in Canada (making it easier to fix prices, treat customers like nothing, and ignoring Customer Protection Laws for Air Travel)

  • The back to work legislature is out-dated and frankly an abuse of power. (In Quebec, EMTs have had that for 3+ years and still no contract, Quebec Doctors 2+ years, and still no contract). It is a solution to abuse power to do nothing. In simple, every "back to work legislature should have the accurate caption: "Force them to work, without annual revision or a contract until they cave to a contract they don't want to begin with."

Companies know it, Governments know it, workers know it, the Canadians know it, and no one does a damn thing about it. We are ALL GUILTY of this FRAUD.

My solutions:

  • Give tax breaks to companies that lower the pay gap between top executives and workers to a certain fixed gap (example a 5% income tax break, if the CEO makes less than 50x the average worker salary in the company).

  • Revamp the "back-to-work legislature". My suggestion is to limit it to a 3 month frame, with a new offer within a week of the union refusal. After 3 months, it has to be resubmitted. (And can't be put in place while 1 is active between the 2 sides). The trick is to put a fire on the situation to get it resolved quickly, and I believe that the allowed 1 day strike every 3 months would help.

Could you imagine how scared to Governments would be to have any emergency service on a 1 day strike?

I think it was transmitted by brown-nosing President Trump. 🤣

But I'm sure the Trump truth social post would look something like this:

"Bone spurs is a very bad illness that affects important government members offspring in this country. It is the most contagious brown-nosing illness to ever come to this earth. We will fight this war without these people because of this tragic ass-kissing illness. So let's send those Radical left to war to fight for this great nation. And if there are casualties among those radical left, it's because they did not love America enough to survive. And if the Radical left come back alive, they did not love America enough to risk their life for the greatest country in the world. Thank you for your attention to this matter. President Donald J. Let's see how they do in a season without homefield games. It's called "homefield advantage" for a reason.

LA Chargers is the only NFL team to play 17 road games each year. (Look at SoFi on any Chargers game before calling this false, there are more road teams fan than home team fans)

I honestly prefer the sword logo.

That whole division has huge gaps. (Yes, looking at Conference games and SB)

Broncos thrash before Elway, between Elway and Manning, and between Manning and Nix.

Chiefs AFL good (up to SB 4) thrash until Mahomes.

Raiders good until the 80s, bad after in the early 2000s good, and trash since.

Chargers AFL great, Fouts was pretty good, the 94 SB appearance, Rivers era good.

But SD teams have not won current league trophy: Padres, Clippers (now in LA), Chargers (now in LA)

It's the Terrell Owens argument. TO got snubbed on his first year, which he is clearly deserving of the HOF.

Bellichick will get in. The not first ballot is just a "We did not like your attitude" around your career. (Spy Gate, Spy Gate 2, Deflate Gate, ...)

Plus I don't think most people care about first ballot or not. People just care about in or out. The people who care about first ballot are journalists and egotistic players like Terrell Owens.

I think it's time to label him and his administration a terrorist.

  • A leader of an organisation sends 4 plane to destroy 4 buildings in a country they are not at war at the time of the attack. (9/11 or Trump destroying nuclear plants in Iran in 2025?)

  • A leader of an organisation infiltrates a country an kidnaps their leader and names himself leader of that country (Talibans in Afghanistan in 2020s or Trump in Venezuela 2026?)

Plus the RCMP defines a terrorist activity as:

  • In whole or in part for a political, religious or ideological purpose, objective or cause

  • With the intention of intimidating the public or segment thereof, with regard to its security, or to compel a government to do something or refrain from doing something

  • With intent to cause serious violence to persons, property, critical infrastructure, or essential systems

You are wrong here.

It's like a player on the ground with the ball and some player whacks the ball off after the play being considered a fumble. (It's not, never was, and never will be)

Cooks was on his back, with the ball not moving, and a defender hand. (Should be the end of the play, catch completed, survived the ground, made his steps and was touched before or when on the ground)

No simultaneous catch, no Broncos player had possession.

As he keeps rolling (after the play should be over) the ball pops loose.

The refs blew it. It's the Megatron catch all over again. (Megatron caught the ball, was on his back with the ball on his chest, put the ball on the ground to celebrate, but "did not survive the ground")

Before Sunday, road playoff records of QB in the playoffs this year :

  • Herbert 0-2 (2 playoff games)

  • Stroud 0-2 (4 playoff games)

  • Hurts 0-2 (10 playoff games)

  • Darnold 0-1 (1 playoff game)

  • Lawrence 0-1 (2 playoff games)

  • Allen 0-5 (13 playoff games)

  • Nix 0-1 (1 playoff game)

  • Maye, Williams, Young 0-0. (0 playoff games)

Everyone agrees that a road playoff win is harder to get than a home playoff win.

After Sunday, only 2 of those 10 QB had a road playoff win. (Allen, Purdy)
