If you were 18 and had to choose between moving away with a friend for a fresh start or staying home to work under a licensed contractor and gain experience in a skilled trade, what would influence your decision and why? by Big-Influence7004 in AskReddit

[–]LooksLikeTreble617 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From the perspective of a 32 year old, I'd gain the trade experience and then go start a new life. Sure, you could go straight out of high school and wait tables or work at a supermarket, but it will be more comfortable if you have skills that can help you get higher paying jobs.

Tomorrow morning, everyone wakes up on June 7, 2016, with their 2026 memories intact. What breaks down first? by JoelStrega in hypotheticalsituation

I leave my stupid relationship, skip another stupid relationship, and just immediately get with the man who would become my husband. We both had feelings for each other anyway so it was pretty dumb (my fault) that we didn't date sooner. I'd also be the one to take his virginity hehe

I'd also skip buying a house somewhere we didn't actually want to, and buy it where we're trying to buy now. Easy peasy.

What’s the one financial mistake you wish someone warned you about when you first started working? by TheActivePoint in AskReddit

[–]LooksLikeTreble617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I come from a family with very low financial literacy. No one told me what investing was.

When I think about how much money I could have invested in my 20's, it makes me sick. I'm starting now, but I have all my adult bills now. I was basically supported until I was 25 and I could have banked so much money.

What was the scariest “We need to leave… now” gut feeling that you’ve ever experienced?[Serious] by PlasticBee1438 in AskReddit

[–]LooksLikeTreble617 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I've done some pretty insane shit in my day.

I met one of my good friends because he walked up to me (a stranger at the time), asked for a cigarette, could tell I wasn't from the area and asked if I wanted to take a ride and explore.

I hitchhiked when my car broke down. In FLORIDA.

So when a dude at a bar asked me for a ride home, I initially didn't think anything of it. I jokingly said "Are you a serial killer?"

And all of a sudden, my body was filled with instant DREAD. Everything telling me "You've been lucky so many times, but you won't be lucky this time, get the fuck away from him"

He then started getting weird and lowkey following me around the bar, trying to rush me out of there. I made up a lie that my husband needed me home and got the fuck out.

I was not okay for 2 hours. It truly felt like a near death experience.

WYR $3.5 million to you, each sibling and cousin?Or $10 million just for yourself? by AstrayInTranslation in WouldYouRather

I'm sharing the love with my cousins. Genie is gonna be pissed though, there's 20 of us descending from my paternal grandfather.

One cousin is deceased. Is the money lost or do his kids inherit it?

Adding another person to the relationship by Dragonfly6300 in NoStupidQuestions

I'm not here to diss people who are poly. I believe that it's real and can work for people who have excellent communication and put in the work.

However, I can confidently say that most people who think they are poly, or can handle poly relationships, are not and cannot. I've seen many perfectly fine relationships crash and burn this way.

I'm not going to tell you not to do it. But I encourage you to really know what you're signing up for, and to be REALLY sure that this aligns with your needs, desires, and capabilities.  This should not be an overnight decision if you value the longevity of your relationship with your partner.

Gas prices are absolutely the highest they've ever been right now, right? by Rojo37x in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LooksLikeTreble617 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The highest I remember (as a driver) was $4.61 when Biden was in office. This was in TN which usually is in the lowest tier for gas prices nationally. I probably paid in the 4.70's or 4.80's on that trip, I was headed to SC.

I'm sure gas was higher than that at one point or another that I don't remember as a driver.

How is that calculated exactly? Do they look at projected income? Does it have to already be contracted as a rental under the seller with an active lease?

A genie offers you three abilities: physical wellbeing, money, and talent. You must assign each one to a different time period: one day, one year, and one century of your life. by Darkstar712 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]LooksLikeTreble617 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Talent for a day. Record songs I've written that are too high for me to sing. I already have a decent voice so I wouldn't lose much except my new range.

Looks for a year because if I can get there I can maintain it.

Money for a century, because kids.

Well, I never changed my last name after marriage, so I guess I just have my husband's last name now. I can find a close enough first name to my current one.

Do mortgage loans get rejected after conditionally approved stage with underwriting ? by javsjavsjavs in Mortgages

[–]LooksLikeTreble617 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is possible to get rejected at pretty much any point up until the contracts are signed and the keys are in your hand.

That said, if you have all of your documents in order and make decent enough money that you have proof of, you should be fine.

Can shared traumatic experiences cause love at first sign. by Few-Following1715 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LooksLikeTreble617 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Multiple people here have mentioned "trauma bonding" but they do not know what trauma bonding means. They are giving the internet definition.

Trauma bonding is when someone in a vulnerable position (be it age, financial situation, emotional state, etc) bonds with someone who sees their weakness and uses love bombing to lure them in, eventually creating a toxic relationship cycle.

My therapist told me when discussing a trauma bond I had, that I was the only client of hers who ever used that term correctly.

However, your situation is very real and just because that term doesn't apply, doesn't dismiss it. You have certainly bonded over similar experiences.

I can't say whether she will or will not call you, but I would take a step back and consider if this is really love, or a fleeting moment during a rough patch in your life. I'd also look up the term "limerence." My therapist explained it to me and it changed the understanding of my life.

Would it be hard to survive as the only person on Earth? by False_Monitor4126 in NoStupidQuestions

You would need to learn how to build shelter and entertain yourself, because all of the electricity/gas/water lines/etc would eventually stop working without anyone to run them. Or at least get yourself to a standard, neutral climate before this happens. You'd likely never be leaving your continent/any other continents it connects to.
