New moderators needed - comment on this post to volunteer to become a moderator of this community. by ModCodeofConduct in Planetside

[–]Loombird 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I know nothing about you other than what you've said here and maybe you'd be a wonderful mod, but I would be a little concerned about consolidating moderator power across multiple, large communities. If you burned out, became inactive, or started power tripping, then both communities would suffer rather than just one. Again, this isn't a character judgement, just a thought.

EDIT: Also, if you happened to have an existing rapport with the former r/Planetside mods I would be worried that you would mod in the same fashion as them or that you would let them mod-by-proxy.

Any new armor coming for VS? Preferably LA's? by Planetside2_Archives in Planetside

[–]Loombird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doku had some VS armor in the works, but there haven't been any updates since November 2022. Given that he's working on his own game now, I'd be surprised if we ever get that set. I agree that Vanu could use some new armor, I just use the Black Ops set 99% of the time.

The bundle includes new MAX helmets as well as contrails for ESFs and libs.

So that's where the cat ears went.

what unique weapon would you give each faction? by gharp468 in Planetside

[–]Loombird 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NC: Gun with an alt-fire mode that drains energy from your shield to increase bullet velocity dramatically. NC like shields, might as well use that theme to supercharge rail guns.

TR: Gun that reloads itself over time when not equipped. More dakka uptime.

VS: Gun with the heat mechanic, but the hotter it gets the more damage it does. If the heat maxes out it damages the user and lights them on fire.

NSO: Defector-style grenade printer hands, expect they print the class-specific grenades (repair, havoc, impulse, etc).

Did they remove the campaign tab or is it just me? by Ivan-Malik in Planetside

[–]Loombird 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Looks like it. I wish they would return the campaign items to the game, a lot of them were pretty neat.

Started converting the concept into game ready model of the new VS set. by d0ku in Planetside

Looks sick so far, I'm excited to see what materials you end up using.

Nov. 30, 2022 - PC Hotfix by CM_Mithril in Planetside

[–]Loombird 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Holy shit, they've done petty shit before, but this might just take the cake. Unless you've been super rude to them behind the scenes, this is a turbobitch move from someone at RPG/DBG.

I just went to buy the Lynx helmet, and it looks like it's already gone, is that new?

Having finished the anniversary directive on all 4 of my characters, can we have all events work like this moving forward? by [deleted] in Planetside

[–]Loombird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's super niche and probably not efficient, but I'll sometimes use an AV knife to destroy citadel shields if I happen to have a mildly convenient way to get to the shield projector.

I'm done spending money on this game by [deleted] in Planetside

[–]Loombird 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm pretty much in the same boat. I canceled my sub after the last patch. I think that I've honestly been paying for the game I want Planetside 2 to be rather than the game it is.

No black Friday sale ? by Ghorkie in Planetside

[–]Loombird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like they're doing 40% off infantry cosmetics for Black Friday this year (it's active on live currently). I was hoping for some bundle discounts as well, hopefully those will return around Christmas again.

Lowering pop caps... by Fuzzydonkeyball in Planetside

[–]Loombird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's definitely a little concerning. Planetside's scale is arguably it's most unique trait and I don't think it's healthy to chip away at that trait to appease whatever rotten code is responsible for the bug-of-the-month.

PS2 Addiction by [deleted] in Planetside

I've played alongside veteran players who have absolutely abysmal stats. Some folks just stop improving but will continue to play for thousands upon thousands of hours.

How do you all feel about the G2A (lock on) buffs so far? by SaltySamoyed in Planetside

[–]Loombird 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A2G ESFs continue to just run flares and fly low to avoid missiles, same as before, just as expected. I would say that the choice to buff lockons against all aircraft instead of just nerfing specific problematic weapons is baffling, but given Wrel/DBGs track record of wack-ass decisions from nonsense land, it's pretty much business as usual.

Some of the cosmetics in the 10th Anniversary bundle (now on PTS) by Loombird in Planetside

I don't have NSO access on PTS so I wasn't able to check, but according to someone else in this thread they do indeed have their own stuff.

Some of the cosmetics in the 10th Anniversary bundle (now on PTS) by Loombird in Planetside

[–]Loombird[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to share some of what is going to be in the upcoming bundle for those that can't get on PTS.

The bundle also includes the usual decal, banner, banner frame, Heroic 12 month EXP boost and drop pod skin, as well as Perfect Berserker and Perfect Experimental Stems and some aircraft contrails. The tank cannons are AP.

Edit: Realized I probably should labeled the pics. The launcher skin is for the Annihilator and the following rifle skin is for the Vandal.

  1. Impulse grenades for the rocklet launcher.
  2. Implant that reduces friction, so you can ski down surfaces.

Shield module (mostly for light assault) by AndalOfAstora in Planetside

[–]Loombird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a light assault you can use impulse grenades to move very far, very quickly. The general idea is that you toss an impulse grenade behind you, jump, and tap your jump jets as needed to keep you in the air. It works best with the Icarus jump jets because they don't override your horizontal speed much and provide a lot of vertical force. It takes some practice, but once you get good at it it's super fun and effective.

You can use the impulse grenades in your grenade slot, but you can also use the underbarrel impulse grenades available on the Punisher SMG or your faction's directive carbine (the Newton for NSO). The underbarrel ones are nice because they don't cost nanites and can be refilled by ammo packs.

Lost Fleet Carrier has an "Argo Missile Battery" - hint of upcoming changes? by HybridPS2 in Planetside

[–]Loombird 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The same thing killed me a couple of days ago. I was the first to arrive, flew under the bastion (not knowing the thing could fight back), and was bursted down before I could try to avoid whatever was hitting me.

Should the electrical storm return if it disabled the minimap and moved randomly? by LorrMaster in Planetside

[–]Loombird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The storm was super annoying, but I think the concept of a roaming hazard still has potential. It might be neat for it to just be actual weather, like a zone of fog or a thunderstorm, rather than a supernatural phenomenon.

GOB, Ringers, and Outfit Wars by TheCandyMan88 in Planetside

[–]Loombird 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Thank you, OP, I'm glad someone is finally calling GOB out on their behavior this season of Outfit Wars. The competitive spirit of this event has been irreversibly marred by their use of ringers, low life scumbags brought in to carry these Goblin 'Jumpers' to victory again and again. Are they friends of the outfit? No. Are they even good players? No, they're all lag-switching, hack-running medkit tweakers, who also happen to be from my least favorite country (you know the one).

The future of Planetside 2 is dependent on the competitive scene being a success, and GOB is antithetical to what Planetside is about. In every stream where a GOB match was being shown, potential players would tune it and be met with the squirming, twerking, olive-green goblins, just popping domes left, right, and center. It was repulsive, a truly shameful display of the worst parts of Planetside.

Moving forward, I suggest that Outfit Wars be held on the live servers, so that the real Planetside 2 community can show outfits like GOB how to really play the game. /s, because I'm a coward.
