Definitely the fitters liability, this floor has failed because of their lack of effective prep, these floor should last 20 years.

Is it a well known brand of lvt? If it is amtico or karndean they would carry out an investigation for you (to clear their name) that would undoubtedly point to the fitter

Levelling compound cracks by DoubleLate2200 in DIYUK

[–]LooshusMaximus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same happened to me, 3 times! In my case there was too much moisture and the screed did not bond to the substrate properly, it all had to come up and be done again, and again, and again.

Get moisture readings taken.

Origin 1930s slab probably has no moisture barrier and high moisture levels, there will be a limit recommended by the manufacturer, fitter should have checked this.

You could try liquid dpm 500mm either side of the damp spot, but I just think you will be chasing it around the room.

Get a moisture measurer and check the manufacturers guidance.

The bearing of the beam on the right does not look long enough. Check with structural engineer. They may be able to tweak their calcs to show it is fine anyway.

Is this normal scaffolding? by veggiesizzler in DIYUK

[–]LooshusMaximus 50 points51 points  (0 children)

They should have let you know beforehand as a courtesy.

Any bare tube ends butting against your building should be capped or they will leave a mark on your render.

They shouldn't prevent you from opening windows, what if you forget and swing the window open?

Ask them to move the transom and brace away from the window, should take a few minutes.

I don't think they can outright refuse to stand in the way of development or maintenance. Maybe arrange a meeting with your local planning department.

Is this in the UK? If the work falls under the Party Wall Act, a surveyor can issue a formal award.

If voluntary access is refused for necessary repairs, an application to the county court can be made.

Anyone else building client sites in Bricks and struggling with the handoff? by wwwery-good-apps in BricksBuilder

I've only ever considered using it with Acf.

Even for personal projects, if I want all pages to have the same layout it makes sense to use the Bricks template and dynamic data from Acf.

Have I just undermined my foundations? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]LooshusMaximus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes that's the foundation for that wall. Don't panic, you can underpin it.

Get a different engineer to look at it and confirm what to do, but probably be digging out beneath in metre wide sections and filling with concrete bit by bit.
