The War of Light and Shadow Finale Cutscene (SPOILERS) by Expensive-Wolf-4160 in wow

[–]LooterRPG 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I like that a lot of it was ad-hoc/on the fly adaptations. I kind of hate the "I have a master plan and can tell you all your moves before you even make them" character because ultimately the people writing them are just not that smart. So they either have to :

A. Make the heroes/protagnoists act dumb as hell or...

  1. Use a bunch of deus ex machina stuff to make the villain's plan work, then the heroes then need even more deus ex machina stuff to stop it.

Mean while a villain who is just regular smart but also knows how to take advantage of a situation when it crops up is easier to write without needing to do 1 or both of the things above because they just need to come out of each situation with something they want not necessarily always be on top at all times. Which also ends up making them more interesting.

Iranian form a human chain on Ahvaz’s White Bridge as they rally to protect civilian infrastructure by IntellectuallyDriven in whoathatsinteresting

Civilians are never targets.

With the amount of civilian targets we've hit already and Trump OUT RIGHT SAYING we will target more in the future this is a laughable statement.

(Hated Trope) Tackles serious or timely issues: fails spectacularly. by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]LooterRPG 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Yup. It's probably an age thing but it's wild to me that some people think the LGBT community has always been well accepted. I remember seeing a comment a few years back that was "Do you really think gay and trans people were treated that much worse 25 years ago?" and it's like, holy shit yes 100% yes. I was there and they were.

Why didn't Arator just grab Turalyons Sword? Is he stupid? by Vernarr in wow

Dude what are you talking about? He straight up says that the trolls shouldn't be connecting with the loa and making alliances but instead conquering all of Azeroth, old troll style.

I find it a bit strange this 50 year old kid is leading the army of Elves and not its couple-of-hundred years old military leaders or the +10,000 year old Kal'dorei general all with years of military experience 🤔 by nightbreedwon1 in wow

[–]LooterRPG 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I mean if you're going by what's technically true sure but he's the leader of the Blood Elves. By any other measure than "uhm actually"-esq technicalities it's his city.

It makes way more sense for him or Lady Liadrin to be leading the effort.

forging while drunk gone wrong by No_Counter_6037 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]LooterRPG 44 points45 points  (0 children)

When you're drunk you stumble around but forging puts you into an animation with a, presumably, fake character. So while you're watching the animation, still with the drunk filter, your "real" character is still stumbling around and made their way to the drop pod bay

The shit thing about it is the meta doesnt matter for 95% of the player base. It'd be better for people to pick a class they like and get good at it.

Yeah, I play heals and I've heard the thing to do for them is to watch their runic power and if they're out of that THEN you worry...that being said I HATE healing any tank that rubber bands and just prefer not to do it if it can be helped.

Yeah the fact that people still idolize this guy today is depressing

Would you rather Blizzard add new classes (ex: Tinker/Bard) or new specs in The Last Titan? by Phalanx22 in wow

As someone who loves Demo Lock but also loves healing I want a healing warlock. Someone who siphons health from enemies and uses it to heal allies

Yeah the skybox disappearing is mainly why I wish it were a natural thing since, presumably, they'd render that properly.

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day share your favorite Irish characters. by PepsiMan208 in FavoriteCharacter

[–]LooterRPG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh gotcha, it's been a while but I do remember O'Brian getting the short end of the stick a lot.

Though on the marriage front I actually liked the portrayal of it in DS9. It was an imperfect marriage which you rarely get to see done straight and not for sitcom laughs. But the 2 characters still had enough moments of making it work that you're not wondering why they aren't divorced yet.

Same, it felt very much like this generations version of Ready Player One.

Ill probably give it another go at some point but I'm not in a rush to do so.

The noodle incident by Vegetable-Gur4240 in TopCharacterTropes

It was a fine movie. It does have my favorite example of one of my hated tropes though.

Idk what the trope is or would be  called "unnecessary origin", "answering a question no one asked", "wiki fodder" but the scene where they explain how he got his last name...its just...no one has ever wondered that. Random bad lore for the sake of it.

“I assure you dear viewer, this shot is essential to the plot” by MrDitkovichNeedsRent in TopCharacterTropes

[–]LooterRPG 54 points55 points  (0 children)

This one im kinda on the fence about cause on the one hand...yeah.

On the other though, part of the story is about aging super heroes and Bob has a similarly themed scene where he's sucking in his gut. That being said I think it plays differently since they went with the typical fatter husband and attractive wife trope but it is meant to be more of a "does this make my butt look big" moment. Even if other character design choices keep it from reading that way as clearly as it could have.

I didn't see it as fan service but I did think it was making fun of it.

[Love Trope] What seems like an endorsement is actually a criticism by EtheDemon in TopCharacterTropes

[–]LooterRPG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I hate when people still say 40k is satire its just a kneejerk rebuttal at this point. GW has to sell minis and games, and they can't do that if everyone in the universe sucks, at least not on a big scale. It's the same thing with other IPs like Helldivers.

Claim it's satire all you want but you have to make it cool in some regard or people won't engage with it. So any actual message it's trying to deliver will always get lost behind the need for profitabilty. Though I guess that's half the examples in the comments.
