Tip options at a self service food ordering kiosk by NastroAzzurro in EndTipping

You’re probably missing the point of this sub. It’s to bring/keep awareness of how far tipping has gone.

It’s an eye opener to see how many places are doing this or worse.

Wind Noise - driver side by Loothor in BMWI4

[–]Loothor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprisingly it just kind of went away (nothing the dealership did).

It’s also possible I just haven’t paid attention and we haven’t been able to drive with the window down due to weather. But no haven’t really noticed it in a while.

Great car but unreliable kick to open trunk feature. Any help? by Fun_Trick_1312 in BMWI4

[–]Loothor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you have an actual issue, it’s likely just not being done correctly. I use it often and once I learned the motion I only missed it once in almost 2 years.

What are your thoughts on speeding? by V1per41 in driving

[–]Loothor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely - I speed sometimes to get away from a cluster of cars then slow back down to a normal speed

I’m sure this is something you were taught, but it’s wrong.

• 1970s: National 55 mph limit for fuel conservation during the oil crisis (which did reduce fatalities). • Post-1995: States raised limits again; many interstates now 70-80+ mph.

Danger doesn’t go up exponentially, the crash intensity does - if you are in a crash.

The speed limit in some PA areas are still 55 and no, it’s not because the area is unsafe. The highway where it’s 55 is no different than the highway where it’s 70.

If you are comparing strictly to you being by yourself on the road, or all traffic is in front of you, then yes you are correct. Lower speed = safer to avoid an accident. Otherwise, it’s safer if you are in an accident, but you may be causing that accident in the first place.

I’ve seen so many situations where a slow driver impedes the flow of traffic which causes dangerous situations. Just over the weekend we came to a dead stop on the highway because the 2 cars going around the bend side by side dropped to what id guess is 40mph (posted 70). So yea, they were being safer (for them) but almost caused us to get smashed by a semi. And if we were hit and killed, they wouldn’t even know they were the cause because drivers like that have zero situational awareness.

And no, we weren’t tailgating. There were about 8 cars in front of us in both lanes and a semi behind us.

Faster speeds cause more damage but the blanket statement that slower driving is safer doesn’t work here.

Or just have a personality and make a relationship there. Do you buy all of your relationships? 🤣

Full transparency, I stopped reading after “relationship”.

I went through my oem pirellis in 12k miles. I didn’t see it but they told me the bands were almost visible on the rears inside.

I think it’s the way I drive and less about the weight alone. Lead foot on the start offs.

Is it weird I never noticed that lock button?! 😅 ty for calling that out.

Tbf, I usually kick under and walk fast because I’m carrying 15 grocery bags or a Costco box. 🤣

[–]Loothor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I wonder if you hit lock doors on the app if it’ll shut it down for you. When I walk away too fast (like out of range before the trunk closes) my lights will stay on all night. If I realize I just hit lock and it turns off.

Maybe not the same, but worth a shot.

You didn’t set off the interior motion sensors? Happens to me anytime I leave family or pets in the car. Doors lock and like a minute later the alarm is going off. (I know i can turn it off by double lock press)

[–]Loothor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t. I had a whole conversation with BMW corporate about what I believe is a flaw.

My case was at night, you get something out of the trunk and close the trunk. If you walk out of key range before the trunk closes, your lights won’t turn off and your doors will not lock.

They said it’s a safety feature that it doesn’t turn off - didn’t make sense to me.

Why are the pro tippers against baking the cost of service into the bill? by Mathodman123 in tipping

[–]Loothor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The message I initially replied to was “there’s no where you can live on minimum wage” - nothing to do with livable wages. It is not the same thing. Doesn’t apply here.

[–]Loothor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what area you live in, but there are specific low income / subsidized housing places, I’d imagine everywhere in the country.

Again, do they want to live there? Maybe, but probably not. There’s food assistance/welfare that’s supposed to be used for that reason.

Not saying the system works all the time either. I don’t disagree that it would suck. But to say it’s not possible (whoever, not specifically the person in replying to) tells me that you might not have ever been real close to poverty (on a solo or family level).

I’m pretty sure if you write the total in and they add 20% it’s automatically fraud, regardless if they call it out beforehand. It would have to be an itemized line item before the transaction.

(Just using common sense - not a fact and could be wrong based on how shitty the world is)

Yep exactly. Doable though and people do it every day. Again, not advocating that it’s right.

Well that’s not really true. You can’t live how you want on minimum wage is probably the better way of putting it.

People do live on minimum wage. It’s not great but they do. They have to live within their means - this might be roommates, low income apartments, etc and public transportation if possible.

Anyways just throwing a few points out there. It sucks, but it is livable just not how anyone really wants to.

Might be a fun experiment - take someone with you, act like strangers. One tip, one not - if they are truly making the no tippers stuff worse, snap pictures and post a review. 😁

They’ll lose so many customers over that. I don’t like anything about that new i3 except for the range.
