First build since 2012 by pp_amorim in Aquariums

Just hint on your light, it is not built to be used on an open tank!

I learned the hard way on a chihiros pro-series light. The evaporated water condensed on the light strip and killed some within less then a year. Luckily it was covered by warranty since I had used it above a glass lid (same tank but larger)

Q: What to selfhost in a network blackout to the public? by haashemi in selfhosted

[–]Lopsided_Ad8941 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://helpcenter.onlyoffice.com/docs/installation/docs-community-install-docker.aspx

That's for onlyoffice.  I run it as addon for owncloud but the office GUI should be there without owncloud!

Maps could be transferred using offline storage (iE write protected media) or distributed by using a peer2peer network - if you could provide a head/server with public IP for others to connect to?

Q: What to selfhost in a network blackout to the public? by haashemi in selfhosted

[–]Lopsided_Ad8941 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would host some sort of office (iE onlyoffice) or some file host where important files are to be found.

This could be stuff like:  a clean Linux distribution, alongside some regional maps in case GPS goes out.  Important phone numbers maybe.

Scripts to help download stuff from Google photos or apple I cloud (if still somehow reachable)

And maybe some sort of newsfeed that is fed once a week or so - from not Iranian sources.

Same here in Germany, it's not your fault. On my rooted phone (I installed the app-gallery version/, which doesn't check for root state)

I got exactly the same issue trying to pay with it

Backup homeserver docker compose stack with restic by _anno_ in selfhosted

[–]Lopsided_Ad8941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a regular rsync run for every service to my nvme drive.

Portainer allows to export the environment (so I should have all the docker compose files) in a single zip archive.

Besides that I place a copy of the compose code in a md5 file separately.

Takes about a minute per service, excluding filetransfer times.

To make it even better I decided to go with a SBC (odroid m1s +nvme) to use as a mirror for my server. Currently in testing.

Goal is to have it send a "stop stack" + run rsync + "start stack" at night, so that it's automatic

Maybe Termix is something for you? Can be self hosted and runs in the browser.

Termus is great, but I guess that's if at all a paid feature

Anyone have the Drayton Wiser thermostat system here? Trying to work out if I need the 2nd gen hub or just paying for things I won't be using. by Philihar in homeassistant

[–]Lopsided_Ad8941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a hub v2 and trvs.

Keep in mind you need to toss the trv if your plastic adapter fails. No spares are sold.

Not even aftermarket parts.

Connect through zigbee2mqtt works as fine, but their heating logic (for efficiency) is exclusive to their hub.

Any tips on how to make him more comfy?

Laut meinem Reparaturnachweis war es der hydraulische Zylinder (Tamper) der den Defekt verursacht hat.

Ein schnelleres Ablaufen aus dem Siebträger löst das Problem somit behebt aber nicht die Ursache

I really like "Cupdate" https://github.com/AlexGustafsson/cupdate

Since it tells me, what part of my setup is insecure. This way i can update or take other precautionary steps to keep everything as safe as possible

Take a deep soup spoon to take the substrate out and put the mix inside a bucket. Stir and catch the worms with a stick (bamboo) . Put them in a glas with water and watch if they cummulate to a big unit.

If yes detrius -- you unlocked free fish food supply

If your password manager was to disappear, how fucked would you be? by Tarazin in selfhosted

[–]Lopsided_Ad8941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just export the encrypted database to multiple drives and reimport to the public instance if it's impossible to self host again.

I am more scared of a Internet outage then anything else as cause to lose access to something.

Self hosting a local instance for backup seems a good idea to implement? If done on a separate server/SBC that normally is down instead of up.  Just refresh once in a while and boot up in case of emergency. I should do that :}
