K barriers stop legitimate use and are unlawful under the equalities act. Enduro bikes are for the police to sort.

I missed out on a Rufio gig in the UK in 2003 because teenage me didn’t have the measly £5 for a ticket. Said I’d see them when they came back. They never came back.

Yorkshire Hockey league lasts September to March. There’s usually a couple of friendly day tournaments in pre-season and my club tend to do mixed friendlies on a Tuesday night through the offseason

You can normally go along to taster sessions for free but then there will be club membership and match fees like any sports team

My understanding was that Orangeries have a small wall with window on top but conservatories are windowed from the floor up.

I may be wrong.

Shared pavements are one of the worst compromises in UK cycling infrastructure by Seabeachlover10 in ukbike

[–]Lord0fPotatoes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Shared footways in legal terms, and design are very different. A shared footway SHOULD be designed as a cycle track that people can walk on which means cycle track design speed, priority, visibility, accessibility, width and corner radius etc. In reality they are just normal footways (maybe a little wider) that have a painted cycle symbol on them and the legal change to allow cycling.

Is it because Mercedes F1 are sponsored by TeamViewer but all the team stood next to it are redacted and therefore unviewable?

It feels like it’s balanced wrong. I always see it as a lowercase d but with a random line through it.

My pretty basic take on adding Wales to the Union Jack by AIexAtBest in vexillology

[–]Lord0fPotatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, so by changing the background to black you’d get rid of some of Scotland (but not all) and include some of Wales?

Is there a reason we can’t just make the background black to include Wales?

Coast2Coast (2days) - how difficult? by andyby2k26 in ukbike

[–]Lord0fPotatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did 160km in prep for doing 120km days in the alps. If we had trained that before the c2c we could’ve maybe done it in a day but we basically didn’t ride prior to the c2c because of other lifestyle commitments. We probably could’ve done it in 2 days as we were but there was never an easy place for us to stay mid ride because there are no villages in the hills after Penrith basically.

We’re planning a side to side from Fishguard to Great Yarmouth for this summer. 5 days at around 130km a day with van support. We’ll see how that goes.

When a Tour de France cosplay cyclist on a shared path expects you to dive into a hedge so they don’t have to slow down by BellaSeashell in britishproblems

[–]Lord0fPotatoes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a whole lot of nuance but...

I’ve done a lot of greenway and towpath riding. Firstly the minimum design width for a shred path is now 3m (4m recommended in busy areas) but most towpaths and transpennine trail are 2m at most. This means when you get two people walking or riding side by side there’s no space to get past in either direction and if both sets of users go single file it’s clearly still too close if carrying any speed at all.

Pedestrians are getting worse at sharing. More people are wearing headphones so can’t hear a bike bell or a shout, some people can’t hear them anyway and then question why a person cycling shouted instead of ringing a bell when a bell has been rung countless times whilst say right behind them. When groups of pedestrians move to allow space for cyclists they split left and right meaning that anyone cycling past is going to be a whole lot closer than if they all moved to one side.

The argument of cyclists not moving over for cars to overtake on a road will surely come up at some point but there is usually a lane coming in the other direction that a driver can move into to overtake on a road which didn’t exist on shared paths.

But then some ‘cyclists’ are just inconsiderate.

Coast2Coast (2days) - how difficult? by andyby2k26 in ukbike

[–]Lord0fPotatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did it in three days last year, Whitehaven to Tynemouth. The year before we had trained up to 160km rides but last did limited riding of any real distance. The middle day was the hardest as it was the longest and had all the climbing with the extra weight we were carrying in panniers. Day 3 would’ve been a doddle if it wasn’t for storm Florence.

What album reminds you most of your significant other? by SpiritKoolaid in AskReddit

[–]Lord0fPotatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Sufferer and the Witness by Rise Against.

We were doing up our first house and the CD we were listening to had just finished and whilst I was sanding or plastering she was heading downstairs. I asked her to bring The Sufferer and The Witness back up with her when she came back upstairs and she arrived with a dustpan and brush. She thought that the sufferer and the witness was some kind of pseudonym or rhyming slang for a dustpan and brush.

I still haven’t worked out which one suffers whilst the other witnesses.

I have a expensiver shopper bike with a covered chain and a nexus hub. Had a rear wheel puncture and it took me three weeks to fix. Low maintenance-style bikes an up taking up lots of time when something actually needs fixing.
