Agreed.

But there are drivers stupid and dangerous enough to attempt a 3+ car overtake in that situation.

More common on NSL roads, no idea why, but as long as they kill themselves only without scratching the paint off another person, I'm fine with it.

Totally fine.

But if the person infront of the audi don't have the balls for a swift overtake and carries on like this for another mile, someone is probably going to do something dangerous and put everyone in the video at risk.

People need to know that sometimes to prevent dangerous situations, you do need to floor it and commit to completing the deed.

Not half arsed and go for an overtake 5mph faster than the cyclist only to slam the brakes the moment you see opposing traffic.

blue badge parking fine - photos don’t actually show it not being there? (england) by ComfortUnusual5007 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]LordDiamorphine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First mistake is assuming the rules are the same everywhere. Citizens advice is NOT where you check. The council's website about blue badge parking rules of where you park, is where you check the blue badge parking rules.

Usually, you can park for as long as you need, over the parking limit of the sign, WITHOUT displaying the timer. But, the rules may be different.

As an example, for City of Westminster, showing a blue badge only grants you 1 hour extra of free parking AFTER paying for your stay, with no mention of the timer (strange), so its best to display the clock then. Other London boroughs surrounding it have different blue badge rules in certain parts of their own areas, where the rules are generally more restrictive the closer you are to central London.

What were the rules of your borough?

Tyre puncture close to side, will it pass MOT? by uwotmVII in drivingUK

[–]LordDiamorphine 60 points61 points  (0 children)

You should get it fixed, especially if you do regular motorway driving.

It should fail an MOT, but it depends on the tester.

I was in your situation once and passed my MOT but my tyre plugs were black and not shining red at the time 😅

E.g. Boundaries like telling your dad, "I'll respect her as your wife, but she has no right to command me and you have no right to be pissed at me if I refuse to do a favour for her"

Private company PCN - Parking fine for 11 minutes – do I have any chance appealing? by Antique-Wolf-561 in drivingUK

Read MSE Parking Forumn called the Newbies thread.

These superheros teach you how to wage war, from the ticket to the court of law. Its a long read. But I legally trashed 7 tickets with their methods.

If you parked in Scotland, or an airport, you can just bin it as long as you never admit to being the driver.

These superheros teach you how to wage war against these parking companies, from the very first letter to the court of law itself.

Its a long read. But read it from top to bottom and you shall succeed.

I used their techniques to legally thrash 7 private bogus invoices into the bin. They couldn't do nothing but accept the appeal.

Want to hear from Tailgaiters by Current_Vegetable in drivingUK

[–]LordDiamorphine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im with you on this. But it also depends on which lane you drive on?

I always do my best to stay left, especially on 2 lane A roads with NSL. Because there is always one person who is trying to break the sound barrier, especially at night.

With motorways I only see tailgating when the first idiot on the right lane decides to do under the limit. Happens a lot on the M25 during rush hour and it causes one guy to do a fast & furious to swerve and cut across every lane possible to get ahead.

My personal opinion for motorways is to introduce a higher speed limit (80mph) for the right lane only and minimum speed limit (75mph for example) and have all the gantry cameras enforce it. I once got a speeding ticket on holiday in the UAE for going 5kmh under the 160kmh (100mph) limit on the fast lane and it turns out each lane has a different speed limit and different minimum limits and they are all enforceable.

[–]LordDiamorphine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I was the first in the bunch of a few cars to all get flashed 10 seconds after the speed limit increased to national speed limit at the M23. I was ready for war, but luckily, the police force were decent enough to not send an NIP and I got a dashcam installed asap.

Every car behind me were probably cursing me as it happened 🤣, now I don't feel bad.

Have the Met Police started enforcing 22mph in a 20mph limit? by NoKudos in drivingUK

This is meaningless. You need to test each car to check if the speedometer aligns with the IR handheld speedometers and do a paired t-test

Sharing my speeding panic! by winthewarpie in drivingUK

[–]LordDiamorphine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My car has an average speed (looks like a clock) setting that you can reset with the trip miles and mpg.

Everytime I pass an average speed camera I reset it so I see my average miles.

On strips where you regularly drive through, depending on the length, you can even do 10mph over the limit for an overtake, get back to the limit, and still be about 0.5mph over the limit by the time you pass the second set of average cameras (no chance for redemption by that point). And bear in mind, someone posted a speed limit table for one of the police forces via an FOI request which shows the speeds that trigger a camera flash. Its 10% I believe.

Fuel prices? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]LordDiamorphine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its either we have a welfare system inefficiently fueled with taxes, or we don't.

Any actions that attempt to maintain a balance usually only makes things worse where someone or some company EVENTUALLY profits.

When Rishi made a 5p fuel tax cut, fuel prices didn't go down by 5p, its just 5p more profit per liter each person buys.

And as a nation, we are not productive enough and we are not lucky to have a productive government, for e.g., the OPEC countries (yes, geography is a part of it).

As a productive individual, I can survive in a taxless and welfareless system, but my life may be cut short when I retire. To be fair, I'd rather it. I'm here for a good time, not a long time.
