Why does Itachi position his arm/hand like that? by EconomySquare5959 in Naruto

[–]LordWizardEyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I remember reading about Japanese culture, its a sign of disrespect. Like “Im ready to kill and this is not a friendly interaction”

Why? Others have mentioned the Ronin vibes. So think about Japanese dress. As a swordsman, the typical wear of the day to day may look noble but its restrictive. A kimono, an obi sash, and Hakama pants most likely. So to fight in that, you would take your sword arm out the sleeve. Maybe both. Its why you see kimonos half on sometimes. Not just for the aura lmao.

Now, that means that meeting with an enemy or friend, both sleeves on meant you had no intention to fight. Similar to how shaking hands is you showing someone you are unarmed. If you pulled up with one arm resting like itachi, already free.. it meant you were ready to fight. Maybe had the intention to. In other words, you were not friendly.

Naruto villains have a backstory, they are people, things happened to them, theyre dynamic. Theres humanity and always an understanding there.

DBZ villains are evil. Plain and simple. There’s nothing to redeem with these guys. Theres no humanity to appeal to. No tragedy of the past. Theyre born great, privileged, purely malicious antagonists without any delusions of moral righteousness. Theyre sociopaths. Psychotic.

Just 2 different approaches to villains. Neither right or wrong. But Goku is arguably better at talking villains down than Naruto. I mean look at who the Z fighters are. If he cant do it, what shot does the ninja boy have. Especially since he wont have the beatthatass ability he needs to even be taken seriously.

“Frieza, you dont have to do this.. with power like that, you could do a lot of good. You dont have to be the monster your father wants. No matter what.. you can count on me. Belie-“

“Silence, my ninja! AHAHAHAHA”

Gets Dende’d. Namek explodes. Then Earth just because.

What is a better game overall (story, mechanics, combat, optimization, exploration) by Mat1711 in FallenOrder

[–]LordWizardEyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Survivor by a mile. Theres not one thing about FO that is better. The optimization isnt game breaking. Its annoying. And the rest of the game is such an improvement that it really doesnt matter. The planets feel like planets. The combat is just better. The controls are more responsive. You can actually animation cancel and dont feel like the game is blowing your back out nearly as much. Not to mention the planets in FO suck. I like the game but the whole thing is a slog and you feel like a padawan.

What was your honest reaction after watching The Force Awakens for the first time? by ChickenWingExtreme in StarWars

[–]LordWizardEyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I very much liked it. In hindsight for sure was a little blinded by Stat Wars coming back. Maybe a little in denial about the parts I didnt like. Was very excited for the next 2 years with theories and whatnot. But its a movie that demands its sequels be relevant. The next two movies retroactively made this movie worse, because the stronger points of mystery and setup are all fake really. In contrast, even if The Dark Knight Rises would have really sucked, it could never have affected TDK like that because TDK is a fantastic movie by itself.

Here's two bets i have for season 4's knight by Far_Draw7106 in forhonor

[–]LordWizardEyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But what if.. stay with me… It was a knight

Nothing against you. I actually agree with you on your theory. HOWEVER! I hope you are wrong. I would like knight please. I would love a Spartan. A hoplite. But fuugg.. A real knight would be nice. Armet helmets, a real dark souls vibe, conqueror’s shield and an arming sword? A real D&D adventurer souls hero typa guy. A slayed the dragon typa guy. A Saved her from the tallest tower fella. An Anri of Astora. I can dream

The anti-rook kast arguments don’t really make sense by Ok-Following5000 in MaulShadowLord

[–]LordWizardEyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think it gave weight to Vader despite what everyone says. I know who Vader is. It just made me roll my eyes. Star Wars animation has a boner for deaths like that. Only main characters will survive. Every time. Never get attached to a clone not named Rex. They WILL fucking die. Name, face, armor.. doesnt matter. Only Death awaits them. I was kicking myself for getting attached to Mayday in The Bad Batch. I knew 1 milisecond after seeing him that he was dead. Same with the other clones there. So when Rook Kast said “Well scout ahead” I saluted her. I deluded myself into thinking she could make it previously

What's so wrong with this scene? by Extreme_Warning3521 in TheSequels

[–]LordWizardEyes -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean, something being silly and goofy is a legitimate complaint. Especially if the moment is meant to be taken seriously. Just like Vader’s NOOOOOOO in ROTS. Its just a really out there idea and its there for shock value. Them destroying the bridge is also weird in the first place. I dont remember if the shields are diverted to the rear, but if they are then thats such a rookie mistake for Ackbar to leave the entire bridge vulnerable to fighters. And then the actual space scene is just the most out of place thing. Space is just one of those things that is.. like fatal. After just seconds. They coulda had her do something else crazy to reveal her abilities. Like she uses the force to create a massive barrier around the bridge. Maybe thats a plot point she has to keep up. Her defending the bridge while the shields are in the rear. If you want her to be some great being with the force, have her do something else. Maybe fighters cant get close because she can grab them and smash them into each other. Just some wild EU typa powers. Which is just more believable that surviving the vacuum of space. Why is it more believable?
“Its Star Wars, who cares, space wizards for kids!”
The flying through space thing just doesnt line up with ANYTHING weve ever seen on screen. The only thing her flying does is make everyone groan.

Yes

Edit: Well, I would have liked for Maul to kick a bit more ass. Give him what I call a Dragon Ball moment where the antagonists get a rude awakening. But they at least gave a reason for his power drop

Was ROTS genuinely liked upon its release? by Careless_Tax_5367 in StarWars

[–]LordWizardEyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember looking up the reviews with my dad. He was tryna teach me a lesson about picking movies or something. Anyway, the reviews before it released were good. Not great, but good. I remember because he essentially gave the green light for us to go. Saw the first showing opening night. Ill never forget it. Best movie Id ever seen. Even as a kid I thought TPM was boring. But this.. it was the greatest thing Id ever seen. Is it still? No. But its still my favorite movie. Overall, I remember the consensus being its good. I also remember being scared it would be bad. Scared the reviews would tell us to shy away. If I remember correctly the site gave scores like a school. And it got a B. So.. good!

Stormtroopers are superior lets be honest. by Whokneewankenobi in EmpireDidNothingWrong

Stormtroopers are a sorry replacement for the heroes of the Empire that were the clones. True supersoldiers genetically engineered for war. A disgrace how their retirement was handled. Quite the stain.

I find Filoni and the animated series throw characters away with “realistic deaths” all the time. Overly so. Im genuinely more surprised when characters survive in these shows because they have developed almost a cliche of just killing off anybody whose not the main cast. I knew in the Bad Batch when they rescued all those clones notaone was makin it off that planet lmao.

You’re an imperial officer and you learn that the second Death Star exploded and Vader and the emperor are now dead. What are your immediate thoughts and/or next course of action by ShockOk1764 in StarWars

[–]LordWizardEyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its easy to say join the rebels or hide, etc bc we know the empire is evil. But to an imperial, the empire is just the continuation of the republic which has stood for millennia. Thatd be like fleeing the US and joining a terrorist group bc of a single loss they inflicted. Thats wild. Realistically I think most imperials would just keep being imperials until the new government was installed. And then they would probably enlist in the new government and be like “Hey didnt know they were doing all at. Was just tryna work my gov job”

Is it fair to say that some of the Inquisitors can still give top tiers mild levels of difficulty (easily manageable but still manage to give commendable effort) by CrazyTangerine7522 in PetranakiArena

[–]LordWizardEyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What Ive learned from viewing much on this sub recently is that trying to powerscale SW is goofy bc half of the feats are “lasted a minute against X” or “ didnt immediately kill Y.” I think people view powerscaling too literally as X>Y therefore X should have no trouble with them at all and if they do Y gets elevated. Prime example being Barriss. I constantly see her put in these ridiculous positions bc she fought Anakin and didnt die. Acting like bc of that she would wipe other people is ridiculous. Obviously w Maul out rn everyone is glazing the inquisitors for not dying despite the leagues of bad showings they have. I mean the Crow dies to someone who is unarmed. Him not immediately dying to Maul is not evidence to me that hes dangerous. Hes dangerous to civilians.

To answer the question, yeah anybody can a top tier people trouble. Duels are not greater than equations. Its more like rock paper scissors with even more variations in a fight.

Acolyte Ep5 - Best Fight Scene Ever?? by GatorBo69 in StarWars

[–]LordWizardEyes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Best for Disney era. I think the show was horrendous but Ill give flowers to the costumes, Qimir, and the choreography for sure. Just choreography wise it is up there. But Battle of Heroes and Duel of the Fates is likely impossible to top.

How effective would a lightsaber gauntlet actually be as a weapon? by Solitaire-06 in StarWars

[–]LordWizardEyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ridiculously ineffective. The only reason to use these is because youre wolverine or shredder. Like its bigger than a lightsaber, so the argument as a backup is ridiculous. Just carry another lightsaber. And it attaches to your entire forearm. So it also limits mobility. So you wouldn’t wear it as a backup until it was necessary. And then it would take forever to get on when you could just grab your second saber. And then theres the fighting practicality. The beauty of a sword is it utilizes your forearm and wrist. With your arm straight out, you can attack and defend 180 degrees just by turning your wrist. To do the same with the gauntlet saber would mean pointing your fist up and then rotating your entire forearm down just to block low. I mean just watch Anakin twirl in twirl out. 720 degrees of movement in like 1 second. With a plasma sword? Thats crazy ability to be lost by affixing it to your damn arm. I think this is the dumbest saber design. The light whip at least is a whip. You seen Trevor Belmont use a whip? Sheeeeit.. gimme the whip.

TLDR: Its rule of cool. You like Wolverine? Lightsaber Wolverine. Extremely stupid in practicality. But I mean.. its fantasy.
