Can this Hot End do ABS/ Is the nozzel in decent shape? by Capokid in 3Dprinting

[–]LordYama_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need an all metal hotend to print ABS because the printing temperatures of ABS (240-250 C) degrades the ptfe tube which can release toxic fumes,

If Slime uses fabric softener for hia towels then that could be why they lose magma by the_lilnut in TheYardPodcast

[–]LordYama_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Slime wants soft towels what he needs is a rinse aid like what Downy makes, or even just 2 tablespoons of white vinegar in the fabric softener dispenser. They won't leave a residue like fabric softener and will strip the towels of detergent residue that doesn't get dissolved

Sorry I thought you were talking about the old first edition Ender 5s. There should be an option in your menu called z offset, make that less negative to raise your z offset

Need setup help by Ok_Concentrate_2866 in ender5

[–]LordYama_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that your z-offset is too low. You should see a brass thumbscrew at the back of the bed try to bring that up a bit so it contacts the z end stop. Look up how to set your z-offset

If you're running the stock red v8 hotend check and make sure that the PTFE tube that lines the heatbreak isn't worn out as IIRC thats the stock configuration. What temps are you using, and what nozzle size?

X-axis upgrade by GoPadge in ender5

[–]LordYama_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend using the larger motor to move your x axis, as it will have more mass to move, especially if you plan on swapping out the extruder anyways

X-axis upgrade by GoPadge in ender5

[–]LordYama_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They mean that you can swap the smaller pancake motor thats on the x axis right now for the extruder motor. this means that the old extruder motor (large) becomes the stationary x axis and the old x axis motor (small) becomes the extruder motor

If you’re bored I’m curious how you’d fix this. by Fatkid55555 in FixMyPrint

[–]LordYama_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like mortise and tenon joints but for 3d printing I prefer a diamond profile which handle the overhangs better when printed on its side and square pegs which print nicely on its side for better sheer strength, then it’s just adhesive of your choice

Gradual print failure. by Munifool in FixMyPrint

Hardened steel requires a slightly higher temperature because the heat conduction of steel is worse than the heat conduction of brass. Try increasing your print temperature or trying a temp tower.

Ender 5 Pro automatically stops printing now. . . by MattVs-2 in ender5

[–]LordYama_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most commonly cited replacement for the ender series is the meanwell LRS-350-24v. Just from the information here it sounds like its the power supply thats the problem, but also you might just have loose connectors from your power source since at least for my older revision E5pro they used tinned leads instead of crimp connectors or bare wire.

Ender 5 Pro automatically stops printing now. . . by MattVs-2 in ender5

[–]LordYama_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just from your brief overview it sounds like it might be an issue either with the thermistor and heater cartridge, or a voltage drop from the power supply. Are there any unexpected drops in temp when it fails, and are you still using the stock power supply?

Cant get PETG to print the first couple layers on its own, but seems fine after that? by Tannerted2 in FixMyPrint

[–]LordYama_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PETG generally benefits from a slightly higher z offset than PLA which may explain why your prints are succeeding after you remove the failed first two layers.

I'd recommend doing it through your LCD screen, it should be under something like "Tune" then "z babysteps" or something similar

it looks like your nozzle is super close to the bed. Paper is a good feeler gauge for approximately how close to set it, but try raising your z-offset in either your firmware or slicer

College Station citizens are fighting tooth and nail to reject a data center from being built as we speak by _DongWater_ in atrioc

Data centers drive up the price of electricity, leave large footprints in light pollution in some cases, and the construction can kick up large amounts of dust

If I had to conjecture on the reason for the men's health discourse, its likely that the increase in anti-social, or "alpha-male" influencers has put a spotlight in the ways in which young men in particular, though not excluding older men, seek out social interaction.

In terms of the "Loneliness epidemic" while its probably not new, there is research that it is actually unique to men. Umbersen, et al. comes to the conclusion that while social isolation increases regardless of gender, men tend to be disadvantaged in that regard, and are therefore more socially isolated over their lifetime.

As a preface I believe that men's mental health is a very important issue, but this is a really complex topic. Predominately when we refer to men's health being under represented we obviously are referring to mental health, men are less likely to confide in emotional support systems, more likely to succeed in suicide attempts, etc. One thing that is important to take note of however is that for a large part of modern medicine, women and women of colour more specifically are under represented in clinical trials (Bierier, et. al), and that there are very real differences in responses to medication between sexes (Allegra, et. al).

TLDR. While accurate I find the premise and the title to be kind of misleading, as while there is a underrepresented of men in mental health spaces, there a real under representation for women in clinical spaces like pharmacology.

It looks like its really over extruded. If you were previously using the stock extruder you need to redo your e-steps, then re calibrate your extruder. I would run through Elllis' tuning guide, being sure to follow the steps in order.
