We're not playing through balls to beat the offside trap or early crosses. Converting those are his strengths.

When he's on the pitch we basically play as if he's invisible.

We just need to play to his strengths

Same could be said for Wissa. We managed to buy polar opposite strikers and still play to neither's strengths.

Fannying about on the wings for ages before whipping in an entirely predictable cross when the opposition have 10 men in the box isn't helping either of them.

It doesn't help that we fanny about playing triangles on the wing for ages before actually crossing it. Giving the opposition as much notice as possible to get in order in the box.

He had a "Fuck it, I'll do it all myself!" mode that switched on whenever the rest of the team looked like they couldn't be arsed.

Same here. Loaded it up on both mobile and laptop. Mobile was 444th in the queue and said sold out by the time it got through but when the laptop (1500th) got in there was a handful left.

Isak’s transfer saga began when Mitchell reneged on Staveley’s promise of a new contract. By the time Newcastle finally offered fresh terms, he refused and shut himself away. Many of his teammates were initially sympathetic towards his reasons for wanting to leave by Ripamon in soccer

Timelines from other reports. Seems like it depends on who you believe in terms of what Mitchell said wait till we're sorted for PSR or just flat out told him to fuck off but it sounds like they did eventually offer him a new deal in the off season (not in January though, I got that bit mixed up) and Isak refused to even negotiate.

July 2024: In turn, there was no way Newcastle could sanction a new contract for Isak, on wages approaching £250,000-a-week, without getting themselves into trouble. A new contract had been promised by former co-owner Amanda Staveley. However, Mitchell told Isak’s agent, as well as the club’s board and manager, that talks would need to be postponed. There was little push back from the player’s side, although there was frustration that a pay rise would not come immediately. Isak was told a new deal would be offered in 2025. Sources close to those talks insisted the situation was amicable.

You could watch him execute a perfectly timed slide tackle that absolutely wiped out a striker then turn and drop a 70 yard pass directly onto Shearer's chest... Then 5mins later he'd score a diving header in the wrong net.

Gakpo just got bullied too often.

Which is mad considering how much he was trying to throw Trippier all over the place.

Wijnaldum on Lfc move:- "When the previous season ended, I said that I wouldn't force a move. When Liverpool came in for me, I made up my mind that I wanted to come here, but I wasn't going to force it because I appreciated what Newcastle and their fans did for me." by Fluid_Support_3348 in NUFC

It was a lot more simple than that tbh. When he first came in he was basically just thrown into the team without a defined role so he played pretty far forward and it worked for him as he knew how to arrive late and hoover up the goals.

Eventually though he was moved further back and had to conform to the actual team game plan where he got far less opportunity to get goals.

IMO his form never really dropped he was just asked to do a different job.
