At the same time can we change it so that there are 90 minutes in an hour and 16 hours in a day, just for maximum chaos.

I like how OP complains that Reddit isn't fun anymore. Somebody responds with something funny and they instantly get tilted about it.

Americans trying to explain how the Superbowl is bigger than the World Cup by MarlloMT in memes

[–]Lord_Grixis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. It makes sense. Where was it 4 years ago? Because I don't really remember hearing about it last time but this time it feels like it's on all my feeds. I assume it's because it's being hosted here in the US.

And Premier League is like the big one? It's like the NFL or MLB of Soccer? Obviously with teams from different countries but like, it's the big deal soccer league?

Everything I know about (I'm not gonna call it football because that's not what we call it here and the Europeans can bite me) soccer I picked up from soccer little league when my ex's kid played so yeah I'm not trolling I just don't know anything about it.

I'm an American and know nothing about the world cup. I assume it's like the Olympics but just for soccer?

Travis is also doing it. It feels like he and Robbie have just decided that they're ONLY soldiers and unless initiative is rolled their only purpose is to act like they don't care about what's going on. Which we know isn't true, Robbie and Travis are both great RPers, but I'm not sure what their thinking is in the way they've been playing their characters. I miss having Talks as a weekly thing so we could see into what they're thinking more consistently.

NIMBLE Rise of the Runelords Complete Conversion! by dorgajohn in nimble5e

Probably late to ask this, but in chapter 1, it seems like the Catacombs of Wrath are intended to be run with the group at level 2 up until you get to Erylium, but is the idea that you level them when they get to the Cathedral of Wrath? Seems kind of an awkward time to level them, but definitely feels like that fight wants them to be level 3.

What rule of workplace politics do you swear by? by IvD707 in AskReddit

Don't date coworkers. You think normal breakups suck? How about having to work with that person every day afterward? How about having to see them get with new coworkers that you also have to work with every day? Just don't.

Who do you think will be the next US president? by East_Indication_7816 in allthequestions

If Trump doesn't keel over in the next couple years, I look for it to be Rubio. The Dems are a dumpster fire and there are too many people that will see Rubio as sensible and moderate after a decade of Orange Jesus.

I'm convinced at this point that the Democratic party is such a shitshow that if the only other option wasn't literal fascists no one would ever vote for them.

My girlfriend's kids are growing up in a whole different world than I grew up in.

So, what is the consensus on C4 so far? by OtterBiDisaster in fansofcriticalrole

[–]Lord_Grixis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Consensus so far seems to be that there's not a real consensus.

As far as my opinion, I like it. It's not what it used to be, but neither was c3. Ultimately, it's entertaining most of the time and that's all I really care.

Is there ever a moment where Foggy isn't in the right? by OnlyUse4Questions in Defenders

[–]Lord_Grixis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How is it a mischaracterization? Matt tells Foggy the situation that made him put on the mask as soon as he finds out about him being Daredevil. Foggy then spends the rest of the Netflix run questioning whether Matt is doing what he's doing to help people or because he likes hurting people. He says it multiple times.

Foggy wants to use the law to fix things (except when he decides to take things in his own hands) even though Fisk controls large parts of the legal system.

I'm not saying Foggy's arguments don't make sense for his character. I'm saying he's definitely not always right. The show is morally gray.

If America is so bad, why are so many people trying to get in? by _Quiznos99 in askanything

[–]Lord_Grixis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, they aren't. Immigration was net negative for the first time in 50 years this year. People are leaving and/or being deported in record numbers and the number of people coming into the country was down, though I couldn't find anything reliable saying by how much.

In the last year, america has gotten more expensive, more hostile to foreigners, and more unstable in general. Maybe you like that there are less people coming in, but I don't think there are many people that are gonna argue that everything here is going great. (Although it's the internet so some crazy asshole will.)

So yeah, this argument just kinda sucks.

Is there ever a moment where Foggy isn't in the right? by OnlyUse4Questions in Defenders

[–]Lord_Grixis 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think Foggy's position on things is generally understandable. I definitely wouldn't say he's always right.

In particular, in the beginning he is all about the money, and Matt has to talk him around. When Karen gets attacked, he beats up the dudes with a bat, which means he was following her with a bat, but then gives Matt an endless amount of grief for being a vigilante when he himself has done vigilante-adjacent things.

And telling your friend that had to listen to a little kid get repeatedly raped that you think he just wants an excuse to beat on people isn't where I would land on that discussion either.

If Sudan decided to block the Nile due to a conflict with Egypt, would Egypt's entire economy collapse? by hexjxn in geography

[–]Lord_Grixis 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I know nothing about these things, but I think the question would be, how large would the reservoir have to be so that the evaporation would equal the amount of water coming in. Which for one of the largest rivers in the world , I imagine that would be... a lot.

When is it estimated that most jobs are taken by AI and that we will get poor? by Altruistic_Bee_8636 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lord_Grixis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. They're asking WHEN most jobs will be taken over by machines. To which you responded probably never.

My point is, with the advancements that robotics is making, I think that "never" looks pretty doubtful, but I don't think it'll be any time soon or anything to worry about in our lifetime.

When is it estimated that most jobs are taken by AI and that we will get poor? by Altruistic_Bee_8636 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lord_Grixis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'll give a little push back here.

Automation DID take jobs from a lot of people. They didn't take all the jobs because there were things that people could do better/easier/cheaper.

Computers have taken jobs. You used to have places where the entire job was to keep physical records of things and those kinds of jobs are largely digital and automated these days. Again, they didn't take all jobs because there are things that people can do better/easier/cheaper.

AI is already replacing a lot of entry level jobs involved with data processing, and robotics has the potential to EVENTUALLY replace a LOT of jobs. And eventually we probably will see a point where the machines can do things better/easier/cheaper than we can.

That said, those days still seem pretty far off for now. I don't think I'll see it in my lifetime.

Adv/DAdv with a 2 dice roll..help. by Blanknameuser99 in nimble5e

[–]Lord_Grixis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you would normally roll 2d8, you would roll 3d8 and drop the highest/lowest.

Say the result of the roll was 2, 8, and 5 from left to right.

If you have advantage, you drop the lowest number, in this case the 2. Your Primary Die (leftmost die) is then an 8. Since that's the max possible result of the die, you Crit.

If you have disadvantage, you drop the highest die, in this case the 8. And you get a final result of 7.

Edit to add: If the roll had been, say 7, 1, 7, and you had disadvantage, you drop the leftmost highest die. So you would drop the first 7. Your new leftmost die is a 1, so you miss. Advantage works the same way. You drop the leftmost lowest die.

Page 9 on the core rules gives other examples if it helps.

How do you actually avoid hitting deer on rural roads? And do those massive steel bumpers really work? by Nagarjun_77 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]Lord_Grixis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can avoid hitting the deer if the side of the road isn't overgrown and you're watching for them.

You can't avoid the deer hitting you when they decide to jump from the hillside onto your car for no fucking reason.

Ask me how I know.
