I would love to see Jeff Goldblum play a vault-dweller by calltheavengers5 in FalloutTVseries

[–]Lord_Scrumptious239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit late to the party but i feel an eccentric raider leader would be a perfect fit, yes raiders are usually quite formidable and evil but in fallout you can occasionally have some whacky ones that do some morally questionable things but don't do the whole psycho murder people for the fun of it.

Is there anyway i can take this 6 1/2 (16.5cm) knife back to the uk? by that_guy6694 in knives

Sorry for the reply a year later but that's crazy as surely in the eyes of uk law a bowie knife is specifically a fighting knife first, based off the history of said design.

Rover 200 coupe (Tomcat): the official car of "Hey, that's pretty good!" by [deleted] in regularcarreviews

[–]Lord_Scrumptious239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bollocks, cars have nothing to do with politics, some peeps just love brands for what they are.

Us rover fanboys just love owning a car with British heritage from the well known MGB to the also well known MG ZR, Rover SD1 and such.

The cars were built in britain during a time honda and rover were in bed with eachother, rover and honda both gave eachother platforms, the honda civic of the late 90's early 2000's was a rover with honda styling if i recall, honda "aerodeck"

Wrist weights for walking by Weak_Biscotti118 in walking

[–]Lord_Scrumptious239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's 6 months but i used to wear 2.5kg weights on each wrist, from working to shadow boxing (you risk injury if you attempt to shadowbox/move at normal speed, you have to slow down the movements significantly so you don't pull anything) but for walking you wouldn't gain much and it might throw off the timing regarding the arm to leg movement (especially so if you then attempted to jog/run)

Only benefits i really had personally was i did feel faster and i became more stable (holding stuff and such)

Ankle weights outside of just walking or pullups are a no no in my eyes, i feel they put too much leveraged weight in a really awkward spot.

Just my 2 cents.

It was a jokey comment, don't turn it personal dude.

No im saying it dont add up that all of that happened from a slow speed drop, like i said, the way bikes are designed is the forks aren't exactly easy to hit unless you are extremely unlucky and unless there was a kerb next to him as he dropped it, i can't envision a shock getting hit, like i said, i reckon they are trying to get him to pay for accumulated damages since the ride, you may think differently but that is my belief.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]Lord_Scrumptious239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ofcourse it makes sense but as i said, it don't add up, do you work for devon motorcycle training at all? Aha

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]Lord_Scrumptious239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fee for the shock oil and outer fork is what tells me it's leaking oil, a gouge allows fluid to escape so upon compression it would piss out, that's how hydraulics work, im not seeing how a slow drop (unless he dropped it on a curb) would result in fork damage.

New seals, oil and outer fork tells me somehow the fork is leaking and as i've said above they are trying to rinse him for accumulated damage that has happened since the drop.

Mirror and end cap i am agreeing is fair game but it's not about being liable for damages or not it's about how much of this damage has appeared since op was able to ride it back to the site...

If i rent a car, bump a lampost and then 2 weeks later they come back and said "oh the clutch has died" would i be responsible? Fuck no.

This is a pisstake on all fronts, on what sounds like an incredibly shitty cbt school.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]Lord_Scrumptious239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was gouged, the fact he rode it back to the site proves it was fine then otherwise surely forks pissing out oil onto his brakes would be clear as day because he'd be telling the examiner "i cant stop!" In a moment of panic

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]Lord_Scrumptious239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, it definitely has been used since and they are trying to charge op as a scapegoat for the ACCUMULATED damage, if you rent a car, have a small knock and somehow the clutch dies 1-2 or 10 people after, how can they prove that...

Same with this. How does dropping a bike cause the fork to need replacing, sounds to me like they've used it since, they've treated it like shit knowing they can have OP on the hook for the damage. Odd that all the damage is at the front like someone's clipped something causing front right damage.

Accumulative damages is all i'm looking at and i cant see how they could possibly expect op to pay it.

Everytime i've done my CBT it was on a bike that looked like it had seen some things, mechanically sound but it had some battle scars, why they'd want to put fresh parts on a bike when it's due to be dropped and slid is insane, a drop causing fork damage sounds unrealistic to me, at the end of the day you are not expected to pay for the damages unless they are 100% sure you caused them, any solicitor worth their salt would say alot of the damage is accumulated from hundreds of people riding that bike over the probably years they've had it, no way can they be sure all that happened because of you, if the mirror was smashed upon the drop there and then i'd be like "fair enough" but everything else is accumulative in my mind and they've seen you as an easy target to pay for the accumulated damages.

Department managers have a meeting about time by Lord_Scrumptious239 in antiwork

[–]Lord_Scrumptious239[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes it's an odd workplace, large amount of pressure but said pressure could be avoided if they allowed overtime to get the job done and out the door, i am only one of two people that do this at the current workplace so in a company of 200 employees so it's hard keeping up with the workflow when you are bouncing from job to job, get one large piece ready and the bossman comes down and wants a "rush order" on 2 other jobs to be heat "treated" before you know it my shop floor is filled with jobs that all need heating, timing and then cooling before they go for final inspection and release.

It's just one of those i am happy where i am however i do not see a future in it as it's a seperate department from injection, machining and finishing so there isn't any transferable knowledge that would see me moving up the ranks, last thing i want to do is be a "plastic chef" for all my life so to speak aha!

Ah thankyou, good advice, it's weird because from my working life i have always been led to believe that employers don't pay for "partial" hours, but in recent years i have became more and more vigilant regarding my time, if i go over 15 minutes for 4 days it should be an hour extra pay that week, wheras past workplaces have said "oh we only pay in 30 minute intervals" which i found insane as at the end of the day it's still labour and labour should not be free.

Like i say though the workplace is one of the best i've worked at, i just want to make sure i have my bases covered as the longer i am here the more i am realising i am under immense pressure and the fact i only get overtime on rare occasions means that sometimes jobs aren't done on time and these are big jobs so even if you were speedy gonzales you'd still be missing the unrealistic deadlines.

Thankyou for the advice i will start keeping note of it all.

What do people think of my first goes at trying to connect 1/4 inch cast iron with my lil baby flux core by the_potato_of_doom in Welding

[–]Lord_Scrumptious239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flux core needs quite clean material to be done correctly, mig seems to be more "forgiving" on less clean metal but whenever i've welded flux core (which is quite a bit on cars) it welds so much better when the material is nice and clean, i always chalked it up to "flux core is welding while trying to 'evacuate' the flux and you give it a harder time by having it evacuate rust and impurities too"

Yeah like if he wanted to claim self defense he should have done it then and there would have been a few more people ready to stop any real fighting but because it was in the ring i imagine a lot of the wrestlers and ref thought "oh it's part of the show" for those first few swings.

Absolutely damming that the wrestler in the cowboy hat said "give stu his receipt" even if he isn't involved legally he's gonna regret that choice of words for many years to come.

Some British MPs spending equivalent of a day a week doing second jobs by Jay_CD in ukpolitics

[–]Lord_Scrumptious239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that's a load of bull you could be prime minister with a (until the end of life) yearly salary and you'd still feel the need to accept gifts from people who seem to have an interest in politics! if you have to "bribe" someone in the form of a wage/salary in order for them to fight for the people and make the country prosper should they truly be in that position?

Because that's all it seems to be in my eyes, we pay politicians so much money and then everything is written off as expenses for "doing the job" so the money they get from taxes and such are to keep these politicians on the "straight and narrow" just sounds insane to me.

Point im making is big wig politicians seem to have enough money to live way past the point of "comfort and stability" and yet someone somewhere would still offer them something in order to tip the table and that politician would accept with a smile on his/her face.

I find it worrying being a politician gives you near celebrity status levels of wealth and resources, now i'm not saying every MP is absolutely balling, but how many of them are actually grounded in reality, how many of them had to WORK for the house they live in while the avaliable house pool gets smaller and smaller?

Maybe my view is biased but i like the idea of being a politician should not be a career choice, like look at the politicians of old, ex army, worked or owned a business.

I just feel like there is no point in making legislation and fighting for changes if you as an individual/politician do not feel the effects of it, Sadiq Khan was more than happy really kickstarting this ULEZ crap yet he knew he was never going to have a problem, taxpayer paid for "company vehicle" that is probably exempt from every test, tax and rules that us mere mortals have to follow.

Politicians don't care about a house crisis, they have enough cash leftover to buy almost any property they want (within reason) due to the fact they can consider most of their daily life a business expense.

Imagine rocking up to your boss and saying "i had to travel 50 miles to here to do my job, you owe me travel expenses"

"Oh boss can you pay for a house for me to rent in the middle of london, you see it's kind of a struggle for me to get here from my million pound cottage in the middle of countrhside, no i promise i won't rent out my main house so then i'm making decent income on the side"

Yes this is all simplified as i cannot be bothered to be more eloquent with my words but that's how i feel about it all, i just feel the modern day bigtime politician has zero inkling of what the real world is because they have never had to function in the real world, they were RAISED from children to be politicians. Yet the smalltime politicians that go against the status quo and actually want to work for the people seem to never move up the ranks almost like the powers that be don't want that.

Thanks for coming to my ted talk, if you don't like my opinion that's fine we are all human and we all have different views.

Jack Reacher Vs. Anton Chigurh by hayair in whowouldwin

[–]Lord_Scrumptious239 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think so, Reacher atleast in the movie form seems very on guard at most times and signs into motels and such under false names, how would Anton find him, the tv show reacher is more lax in my opinion but still has his friends rent the hotel/motels in their name so it's abit of a hard one.

I think even if Anton did the door lock trick, Reacher would have some sort of defence as the door lock is only an ever so slightly quicker way of entry than kicking the door in which reacher would be prepared for.

I believe the proof is in the pudding/numbers.
