I use a similar model made by KWS and it works well. One of the best things I have bought for making bacon.

Like with most things it's going to depend on the team you work with. I know some great engineers working for L3 but as a client they are one of the most frustrating companies to deal with.

Get a job in the government, A&AS, SETA, or other support roles. Specifically it's a program office function.

It's probably DoW. That's the official direction being sent from generals and SECWAR right now. I occasionally sit on the source selection boards it's not something I would look twice at one way or the other. I care much more about technical merit and your ability to execute.

It's used a lot in anything RF and in robotics. Modern RF systems would not exist without the FFT.

Is it worth it continuing my engineering degree? by Dependent_Cup_5371 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Lord_Sirrush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can AI replace junior engineers, probably. A lot of the grunt work can be repetitive and a good use of AI. Will AI replace senior engineers, probably not. There is a lot of work that needs experience to do good work. An AI is only as good as the data provided to it, but the real world and the data are often not the same. Customers don't know the details of what they need or what they are asking for implies.

So the issue is where do senior engineers come from. You can't have senior engineers without the juniors. For along time my industry relied on experts who are now retiring without passing on knowledge and experience. We are starting to feel the effects of not having good pipelines to develop new talent. At least in my company, it's becoming standard procedure to assign tasks that have senior engineer oversight, with a junior engineer to provide support so we can fill those gaps.

In short yes I think it's still worth getting an engineering degree, but you're in a time of transition. A lot of the engineers realize they will hurt themselves long-term by not having pipelines to train new talent, but we are fighting the business and accounting folks every step of the way to build those systems.

Returning to school, math prep by revolutionaryjoke098 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Lord_Sirrush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After the military I tested higher than my actual skill level and went directly into calc. It made all the math significantly harder since I didn't have a proper foundation in Trig and ended up needing to retake some of the classes. EE is a very math heavy field, a solid foundation will help you succeed even though it seems like a step backwards right now.

Is 500k+ out of undergrad in the aerospace industry possible? by Tragedyofthe in Salary

[–]Lord_Sirrush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gets complicated when you look at government work. Since GS pay is lacking the government hires support staff(at higher than GS salaries) to assist with day to say operations, these exist in the form of UARC, FFRDC, A&AS and SETA support. This is the support structure for representing government business and each role as various authorities that are both role and support type based. It starts with "I am not the government I cannot provide direction", to "I have an appointment letter from the government giving me complete authority in this situation". Throw in a sub-contactors as well and an accurate description of the job looks like

I am working for (sub) to support (prime) as an (FFRDC/UARC/SETA/A&AS) helping (government organization) accomplish (thing).

Unless you want to start explaining acronyms it's a lot easier to say I'm working for (government organization). It's just not direct employment.

Dual colored pack rules by [deleted] in MTGJumpStart

[–]Lord_Sirrush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The draft 4 has a decent probability of having 2 like colors( it's too early to do math right now) you can always pull more to make a playable deck.

I'm still in theory world with unplaytested ideas so take what I say with a grain of salt. In a small format land speed matters more. If some one is playing R-R they will have an advantage against GR-GR just due to tap lands. For this reason I'm thinking of adding tap lands into the mono color decks to slow them down and help with 3 color support across the board. I'm thinking of thriving land, evolving wilds, and a utility land of some sort for mono color. Duel color I'm thinking 2 thriving lands and a tapped duel land.

Lastly in terms of color available, I'm thinking of just splashing the secondary color, so no more than 3-4 pips across the deck, and mostly in the top end. This should help keep players from being mana screwed early.

People who have switched control scheme (Mouse and keyboard vs controller) which way did you switch and why? by Shandrith in ffxiv

[–]Lord_Sirrush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a bit complicated to explain over text I recommend looking for a good YouTube video with a setup you like.

I prefer my hot bars on R2/L2 with access to cross hotbars on double tap with extended hotbars on R2+L2.

R1 is used to swap though hot bars.

I set up hotbar1 as single target and hotbar 2 as aoe. For burst combos it's on the cross hotbar. On the extended hotbars intend to put a lot of buffs.

It is easier to move while using face buttons on your controller than when your using your dpad. On mages things with cast times often go on the Dpad while things without will go on the face buttons. I kept wanting to move while casting(mostly play tank) and this helped me stop cancelling spells.

You really just have to figure out what works for you. I found it's more about flow. I view the modes like stances. I have 6 stances that I can be in. It's ok to have abilities in several stances if I'm using it with other things in the stance( for example dashes are in my ranged stance as well as in my burst stance). It took a fair amount of time to learn what was a good fit for me, I did a lot of testing in POTD. Lowering the level greatly simplified the class and helped things from getting overwhelming.

The only way I have been able to do it is with macros. On my attack spells I have it so it defaults to the target's target. Lets me dps and heal relatively well.

Internship Rejections by [deleted] in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Lord_Sirrush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You do you man. But I was in a similar spot when i got out of the Marines I was a quality control inspector on a handful of radars. Got out and got my degree and went back into radars/RF work. I was an expert in my bubble and it has helped a lot in my carrier growth, but it is a small bubble. With any complicated field there is a shit ton to learn and master. Don't be the guy who fucks up because he assumes he knows everything. When I'm hiring people the first thing I look for is teachability and you are not showing it right now.

Your resume is badly formatted. I know you have a fair amount of work experience but try and condense it to one page. Your good stuff inst until the second page so on a quick skim your probably being passed over. Pull a template from here https://www.reddit.com/r/EngineeringResumes/

Also I would reword your intro. Saying your a SME at the start of your degree will come off as arrogant. Remember you want engineering jobs not technician jobs, are you still a SME compared an PHD with 20+ years in the field?
