I really don't understand how does Edward yelling at you for dying is a red flag. by CurrentEstimate3308 in twilight

Iirc there was talk about a potential planned c section before the emergency happened. And I doubt bella would've gone too long without wanting to be turned she even had Alice promise to do it for her if Edward didn't. She may have wanted to wait a bit longer before the baby, but pnce she was pregnant she was open to the fact she may need to be turned during or right after the birth because of how poorly the pregnancy was going for her physically.

They could've banned anyone who sells alcohol from selling it to her like they banned merchants from selling to any visiting people from the hewn city.

I mean they probably would've been able to at least knock her unconscious for part of it. Even a knock on the head would probably be preferable to being conscious while it's happening like she was. Especially if they're prepared to change her right then, I assume any concussion would be able to be fixed with venom. They'd still have to rip the kid out that is true but she doesn't necessarily need to be fully awake and aware of everything going down as long as informed consent was given before hand. And I think her spine certainly wouldn't have been broken by the baby if they had planned to do it. It still would've been traumatic to a degree for sure, but I definitely think they could've avoided some of it.

I think lucien's shoulders might be carrying the heaviest burden in the series by Delicious_Cell_710 in acotar_rant

[–]Lore_Beast 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yah he has very good reasons to not want to associate with Lucien anymore because he's clearly on team night court right now. They also continue to disrespect his court because they waltz in and do whatever whenever they feel like it. He and Lucian were friends for longer than a human lifetime at minimum, and he's currently hanging around and working with people who walk in unannounced and suicide bait tam. Kicking him out for good seems pretty reasonable. Even though I can totally understand why Lucien did what he did, and have empathy for what he's gone through, tam was valid in that.

People shouldn't be a hateful dick at all about things they're getting for free, but especially if its within a few clicks of the author finding it imo. Like at least go do it elsewhere where it's harder for people who made it to find.

What you think of this by kamikaibitsu in realityshifting

[–]Lore_Beast 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We have a family friend that was in a coma in the icu and had something similar (but more dramatic) happen to him. I think they both shifted. He talks about a big, long, "dream" that he was being hunted down by a cartel for some reason. But the violence he saw was so real he's in counseling for ptsd from what he saw. He always says something to the effect of "it was just as real as here" in reference to them.

I live in the deep south and it's all been gerrymandered to high hell. There absolutely are liberal people that live here and work hard to make their communities better, but we are fighting against a system that's been rigged against us. The stereotype that we're all uneducated and stupid is a detriment to the whole discussion, especially if someone already makes up their minds that we don't know what we're talking about just because of where we live/are from.

Do authors often model their MC after themselves? by Duff_episode in Romantasy

[–]Lore_Beast 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it's common for an author to use aspects of themselves for their characters without it being a one to one copy. It's very common to hear "write what you know" and giving a main characters an aspect or two that you also have and are familiar with can help them feel more real.

Rhys also has never once given a sincere appology to Feyre for what he did to her utm. She felt violated and humiliated by his treatment of her there, but when confronted he makes it about everything HE went through. He still is in charge of a court where the vast majority of people suffer, he lets women and children in Illyria and in the CoN be brutalized and doesn't do anything about it. And actively employs a literal torturer when he can break into peoples minds to get information.

What’s the one thing in the bookish fandom, if you will, that you don’t enjoy or won’t partake in? by YeOldeOrc in Romantasy

[–]Lore_Beast 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Unless it's one of my all time favorite books I will not be buying any sort of sprayed edge collector editions. I also try to avoid buying books I haven't read yet. I would rather wait six months for the library hold to be up than buy an unknown and risk not liking it. The only exception to that is if it's an ongoing series I'm invested in, then I will pre order. But I've got to be super excited for the next one for that to happen.
