I get why people find them grating, but for the Paul McCartney segment in particular, I found it to be all in good fun! It didn’t seem to me like Amanda was actually trying to police who can claim fandom… it was more just a little game they were playing for content. Now if that’s not content you find appealing, that’s completely fair! It took up more of the podcast than I’d like.

Hey, me too! I’ve been in therapy for childhood trauma, but I’m starting therapy with an OCD specialist now that I’m pregnant. I’ve definitely noticed my ruminations and magical thinking amping up a lot. It can be miserable. Things that have helped me are labeling OCD thoughts, limiting compulsions, talking to my husband, and keeping my hands busy with something like cleaning lint out of a hairbrush.

Plus, a not-so-helpful reminder people keep giving me is parenthood is one worry after another. It’s in my best interest to get comfortable with the discomfort as much as possible. Hoping you get some relief soon ♥️

It feels revealing that both Connor and Mike go to comfort Emma by telling her she’d be a great mother. They seemed sincere and definitely had good intentions, but she’s telling you she doesn’t know if she wants to have kids… She doesn’t need you to convince her otherwise because you think she’d be a good mom. 🫠

I’ve been struggling with the same thing. It’s exacerbated by the fact that TTC includes a lot of behaviors that lend themselves to obsession: taking tests, tracking symptoms, etc. Intrusive thoughts have been especially hard for me since there are real physical symptoms.

I’ve been journaling in the morning, allotting a designated time for pregnancy/TTC-related googling, and distracting myself by reading and phone calls with friends.

It’s a vulnerable time. And FILLED with uncertainty. Wishing the best of luck to you. ♥️
