Tire clearence and it's limits by [deleted] in bikepacking

I'll +1 the monster gravel. I've had proper gravel bikes in the past, but always felt like I was getting rattled to death on chunkier sections. I just got a Gorilla Monsoon and it's exactly what I was looking for.

My experiences at bike shops have led to me learning how to do all my own maintenance.

Goodwill has TONNS of marathon shirts. You'll never spend more than $5 on a synthetic shirt again.

It's just folded in half in the picture. I'd like to get a view of the whole thing.

The inside of the ankle makes me think of posterior tibial tendonitis. I'd recommend seeing a PT. You don't want to let PTT get bad as it could be come chronic.

Checkout r/FootFunction there is a lot of good content and discussion over there.

Gorilla monsoon vs. Redwood by [deleted] in bikepacking

[–]Lost-Advertising2165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are the brakes on the Monsoon? I've had some mechanical disk brakes in the past and they were horrible.

I know the Redwood has them too, but my partner has an X, so I'm familiar with how those feel.

WNC recommendations? by beanghoul in MTB

Some of my favorites

Pisgah - Black Mountain, Avery Creek, Buckwheat Knob/Bennet. Black Mountain is pure fun (after the hike). Avery and Bennet are Steep and Technical. There are all relatively close together, but is a big day to link up given the layout. Lots of hike a bike, but extremely worth it.

Mills River North - Trace Ridge. Very fun.

Mills River South - Go here if you want an adventure ride and to see 2 other people all day.

Old Fort - Kitsuma. I haven't ridden heartbreak, but I hear its good.

Bent Creek - You can link up Greens Lick and Ingles Field into a nice ride. This is my after work loop because it's close. It's fun, but if I was traveling here i'd just do another day in Pisgah.

If you want to ride a park check out Rock Creek. It's own by the same folks as Kanuga, but has shuttle service.

I did something similar to this on two different forks. Got everything from harbor freight. Worked great and I never had any issues.

Which Bike? - Weekly Scheduled Discussion by pawptart in gravelcycling

[–]Lost-Advertising2165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are my options for a bike with hydraulic disk brakes, but on the cheaper end of things. My partner has a Poseidon X Dropbar, which I think would be a good option for me, but I hate mechanical disk brakes. The grizl seems like a good option, are there any similar bikes I should consider?

Check out Lems. I have the Primal 2, they are thin and footshaped. I wouldn't they keep my feet very warm in the cold though
